In what is seen as a first for cinema anywhere in the world, Fox Star Studios will premiere the song titled ‘Mohabbat Buri Bimari’ on hotstar during the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The song will play out at 7.45 pm on 17 April on hotstar, just before the Pepsi IPL 2015 match between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.

  • TheOneAlliance to switch off signals for Reliance Big TV

TheOneAlliance to switch off signals for Reliance Big TV

MUMBAI: TheOneAlliance has decided to suspend the signals of its premium channels to direct-to-home (DTH) service provider Reliance Big TV for non-payment of outstanding dues.

According to TheOneAlliance, the DTH operator has failed to make payments of the outstanding amount despite constant follow ups and repeated reminders.

This resulted in an issuance of a public notice for disconnection of signals on 18 March. In case the DTH operator fails to clear the outstanding dues, approximately 1.6 million Reliance Big TV subscribers will face a blackout after three weeks of the issuance of the public notice.

The switch-off could be a setback for sports enthusiasts, in view of the upcoming season of Pepsi IPL 2015, which commences on 8 April and will be aired on Sony Six and Max.

In addition to the Pepsi IPL 2015, the subscribers of Reliance DTH platform will also miss viewing other channels including Sony Entertainment Television, Max2, Sab, Sony PAL, Mix, Pix, AXN, Animax and Aath.

It seems as though Reliance BIG TV is making a habit of this. It may be recalled that last year too, TheOneAlliance had informed subscribers of Reliance Big TV via a public notice that the channels it aggregates can go off, if the DTH player doesn’t clear outstanding dues.

  • 123 players retained, 5 traded across teams for Pepsi IPL 2015 season

123 players retained, 5 traded across teams for Pepsi IPL 2015 season

MUMBAI: A total of 123 cricketers including 79 Indians and 44 overseas players were retained by the franchises for the 2015 Pepsi Indian Premier season. Five Indian cricketers have been traded during the window for player trade this year.

The window for the franchises to extend the player contracts on existing terms for Pepsi IPL season closed on Dec 15, 2014.

Ranjib Biswal, Chairman IPL, commented: ‘Teams have the right, at their sole election, to extend player contracts for another season. This allows for teams to make any course corrections to their squads as a way to strengthen their team ahead of the next season. It is a way to balance the need for continuity whilst allowing for churn which is very important from the league’s perspective. The released players will have the option to put their names up for the player auction for the 2015 season’.

Teams have a total salary purse of Rs 63 crore for the 2015 season (5% increase over the 2014 season purse). The salaries of the players retained will be deducted from this amount.
