    Pogo to kick off summer ’22 programming lineup with ‘The Pandavas’

    Mumbai: To kick-off the summer holiday season, Pogo, India’s leading kids’ entertainment channel has planned plenty of fun-tainment and summer campaigns between April 25 to June 3.

    Pogo is launching the thrilling adventures of five brothers “The Pandavas” on April 23 with new episodes every weekend at 12:30 pm.  

    The action-packed series, developed in collaboration with hi-tech animation, adds to Pogo’s fun-filled line-up of amazing characters, exciting storylines, and diverse worlds.

    “The Pandavas”, inspired by the mythological characteristics of the Pandava brothers, will be centred around the chronicles of “Righteous Yudhishtir”, “Powerful Bheem”, “Astute Arjun”, “Adventurous Nakul” and “Valorant Sahadev” in their childhood days, as students of Guru Dronacharya.

    Created by leveraging cutting-edge CGI technology, the animated retelling will bring alive the adventures and heroic battles nestled in the lessons of unity, respect, morals and sibling camaraderie of the young princes of Hastinapur.  

    Commenting on the launch of the summer campaign, Pogo and Cartoon Network’s South Asia Network Head, Abhishek Dutta said, “The Pandavas is a thrilling mix of action and comedy. We are positive Pogo’s young fans will relate to the inspiring stories of the Pandava brothers.”

    He added, “During the ‘Pogo fun-tastic summer’ campaign, fans can expect celebrations, awesome content and a chance to meet their favourite toon characters.”

    MUMBAI: Discovery Kids will celebrate Diwali with a line-up of animated classics like Ramayan, Mahabharat, Hanuman Immortal 2, Pandavas, Little Krishna and Krishna aur Kans starting 19 October 2017. All the animated movies are being showcased as a part of Diwali celebration campaign called Diwali Dhamaka.

    Discovery Communications India’s Discovery Kids head Uttam Pal Singh said, “We have put together a line-up of timeless classics with an aim to ensure that kids enjoy India’s rich mythological heritage along with their parents on the auspicious occasion of Diwali.”

    Discovery Kids will witness the victory of good over evil with shows such as Ramayan (11:00 am, 19th October) Hanuman Immortal 2 (19th October at 1.30 pm), and Pandavas (20th October at 1:30 pm). Mahabharata, India’s biggest multi starrer animation film, will air on Friday, 20th October at 11 am. The voice-over in this mythological epic have been given by renowned Bollywood celebrities including Amitabh Bachchan (Bheeshma), Vidya Balan (Draupadi), Ajay Devgn (Arjun), Sunny Deol (Bheem), Anil Kapoor (Karna) and Jackie Shroff (Duryodhan).

    Krishna aur Kans, a stereoscopic animated feature film, will air on Saturday, 21 October 2017 at 11 am. Bollywood celebrities such as Manoj Bajpayee, Juhi Chawla, Mukesh Khanna and Anupam Kher and Om Puri have given their voice for various characters in this movie.

    ‘Ghatothkach’ is the next character in animation

    NEW DELHI: The success of animation films ‘Pandavas’, ‘Hanuman’ and ‘Shri Krishna’ has made filmmakers realize that Indian audiences accept characters from our epics.

    And it is also clear that the character has to be someone with either superhuman powers or extraordinary guts. Expectedly, the next animation film features Ghatothkach, son of Bhim and Hidimbi from the ‘Mahabharata’ as the hero.

    ‘Ghatothkach’- Master of Magic, lovingly called “Ghattu”, is about the magical escapades of Bhim’s son. The film will not only have magic, action, romance, comedy, and fantasy and but also foot-tapping songs.

    The film has been directed by Singeetam Srinivasa Rao who has been the director of several internationally acclaimed films, experimenting with unique subjects and platforms over a span of 50 years and across 60-odd films in his career. He is known for his innovative children’s films “Little John” and “Son of Alladin” a 3-D animated film. Other films include the dialogue-less film ‘Pushpak’ with Kamal Hassan and Amala, ‘Appu Raja’ again with Kamal Hassan, and ‘Mayuri’ on Sudhachandran’s own story.

    Shemaroo’s Vice-President Heren Gada said in a statement here that ‘As a content house, creation of content is the next step of us. In line with this strategy, we have ventured into creation of live-action and animation among other content. We look to bring unique entertainment genres across the various platforms that audience will love to consume.’

    Smita Maroo, Vice-President of the Animation Division at Shemaroo, said: ‘we were looking for some innovative project when we came across Director –Singeetam Srinivasa Rao. Mr. Rao mentioned that he was directing “Ghatothkach” which was under production at the Hyderabad-based Sun Animatics. The character of Ghatothkach and the script brought out the inner child in us and we were totally fascinated’.
