    Mumbai: Gran Turismo, the most popular racing video games in the world released under the Sony Play station banner since 1997. Sony Pictures Entertainment India in collaboration with Nissan Motors, have joined hands for a unique marketing partnership for ‘Gran Turismo’ a film highly awaited by movie enthusiasts and gamers. The film, which premieres in India on 25 August 2023, showcases the remarkable true story of a group of underdogs who dared to challenge the elite world of motorsports, forever changing the landscape of racing.

    In 2008, Nissan introduced the ground-breaking GT Academy, a gamer-to-racer competition that shattered conventions by transforming video game racers into real-world racing champions. Teaming up with Sony PlayStation, this audacious partnership defied expectations and paved the way for aspiring talents worldwide to live out their dreams on the track.

    MUMBAI: MTV today added Hollywood A-Listers Jared Leto, Megan Fox, Jordana Brewster and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, as well as musician Rita Ora to its already star-studded line-up of presenters for the “2014 MTV Movie Awards.” Hosted by late night host and comedian Conan O’Brien, the show will air LIVE on Monday, April 14, 2014 at 6:30 am IST and a primetime repeat at 9:00pm IST from Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles exclusively on Vh1.

     

    In addition, it is also confirmed that nominees Orlando Bloom, Josh Hutcherson, Sam Claflin, Johnny Knoxville and Ice Cube will attend the show.

     

    The impressive additions set up a ‘Movie Awards’ telecast that fans will not want to miss. In addition having the quick-witted Conan O’Brien at the helm, Channing Tatum will receive third annual ‘MTV Trailblazer Award’ and Academy Award® nominated actor and producer Mark Wahlberg will be honored with the ‘MTV Generation Award’.     The 66th Festival de Cannes will close on 26th May with a screening of the thriller Zulu, shot entirely on location in South Africa by Jérôme Salle and adapted from the novel of the same name by Caryl Férey.

    The action takes place in Cape Town, in a South Africa still overshadowed by apartheid, where destitute townships rubs shoulders with affluent neighbourhoods. Two cops on the beat, Orlando Bloom (Pirates of the Caribbean by Gore Verbinski, Lord of the Rings by Peter Jackson) and Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland by Kevin McDonald, Ghost Dog, La Voie du Samoura? by Jim Jarmush) are caught up in a suspenseful search which combines elements of political film noir and social study.

    Co-written by Julien Rappeneau, Zulu was produced by Richard Grandpierre (Eskwad), coproduced with Pathé, Lobster Tree and M6 Films and is to be distributed in France by Pathé, who will also handle the film’s international distribution. The score was composed by Alexandre Desplat.
    In 1988, Forest Whitaker won Best Male Actor at Cannes for his role in Clint Eastwood’s Bird.

    The 66th Festival de Cannes opens on Wednesday 15th May with Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby and with Steven Spielberg as President of the Competition Jury.     MUMBAI: The red dress that Rose DeWitt Bukater (Kate Winslet) wore in Titanic has fetched $ 330,000 at a Hollywood auction.
    The ‘Drama, Action, Romance – The Hollywood Auction‘ was witness to some contemporary memorabilia fetch eye-popping prices during the weekend, it is reported.
    The exquisite red chiffon dress was designed by Deborah L Scott and took more than 1,000 hours to sew. This costume featured in one of the most memorable scenes of the film when Rose and Jack meet for the first time on the windswept deck of the Titanic.
    It was originally sold by clothier J Peterman in 1998, the year after the hit film released.
    Auctioneer Profiles in History described the dress was the only screen-used jump dress in private hands.
    The top seller during the auction was the bow used by Legolas (Orlando Bloom) in the Lord of the Rings trilogy that sold for $ 372,000. The presale high estimate was $120,000. Orlando Bloom used the brown-painted composite plastic bow made in Weta‘s New Zealand workshop in all three films.
    A screen-used X-Wing model from the first Star Wars movie in 1977 sold for $ 270,000 more than twice its high estimate of $ 120,000.

    MUMBAI: Following the precedent of its popular monthly audio podcasts, the Disneyland Resort in Southern California has now introduced a new monthly series of video podcasts that will bring all the magic and fun of “The Happiest Place on Earth” to fans around the world via their desktop computer or video iPod.

    As one of the first organisations to successfully venture into audio podcasting (launching its first podcast in May 2005), Disneyland Resort has now debuted the first episode of its all-new Disneyland Resort Video Podcast series.

    In the video episode, available now on the internet, viewers will witness the official world premiere of the new Disney film Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest and the re-opening of the classic attraction Pirates of the Caribbean, which has recently been enhanced. All the excitement of getting ready for this amazing event is captured in this mini-documentary.

    Viewers will walk the red carpet with the film’s stars Johnny Depp, Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom, plus meet many of the die-hard Pirates fans. It’s a fast-paced look (six minutes, four seconds) behind-the-magic at one of the memorable nights in Disneyland history.

    Like the Official Disneyland Resort Audio Podcast, the new video podcast is a free monthly internet-based show accessible to a global audience via a “Disneyland” search on the iTunes Podcast Directory. Listeners can also subscribe to both podcast versions (audio and video) through the iTunes Podcast Directory to receive new episodes automatically each month.

    The monthly video podcast takes viewers behind-the-scenes of what’s new and exciting at the resort plus showcases stories from the resort’s 50-year legacy of creating magical moments for guests from around the world.     Additionally, the newest episode of the Official Disneyland Resort Audio Podcast is now available online and takes listeners to all the excitement of the world premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, which had its official bow at Disneyland on 24 June. Recorded live on the world’s longest red-carpet (2,000 feet from the beginning of Main Street, USA to the riverfront in New Orleans Square) this podcast (38 minutes, 50 seconds) features an array of segments, including:

    Achieving a rating of four-and-a half stars out of a possible perfect five on the iTunes Podcast Directory, the Official Disneyland Resort Audio Podcast continues to be a hit with listeners. Each episode features an engaging mix of original programming recorded live throughout the resort including locations in Disneyland, Disney’s California Adventure Park, the Downtown Disney District and the resort’s three hotels — Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel, Disneyland Hotel and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel — creating a “you are there” audio experience.

    Disney’s ‘Pirates’ creates new box office records

    MUMBAI: Walt Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest opened on 7 July to a record $132 million in its first three days at the North American box-office, shattering the record previously held by Sony’s Spider-Man, which opened to $114.8 million.

    The movie has set new benchmarks as it is the biggest opening weekend in Hollywood history and also the biggest opening day on Friday with collections of $55.5 million.

    In India, the film will hit the big screens on 21 July.

    It is also bigger than the four day opening weekend record holders – X-Men: The Last Stand, (grossed $122.9 million) and Spider-Man 2, (grossed $115.8 million in four days last summer).

    Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest is also the first film in history to cross the $100 million mark in just two days and is Disney’s biggest opening, surpassing The Incredibles, which had garnered $70.5 million in three days.

    The movie also led the way in the UK with a $25 million debut and grossed $9 million from South Korea and $8.2 million from Australia.

    Buena Vista (the theatrical distribution arm of Walt Disney) attributes the success of Dead Man’s Chest to the mass appeal it had with male and female audiences of all ages.

    Dead Man’s Chest reunites the cast and crew of the Curse of the Black Pearl including Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley, director Gore Verbinski, and producer Jerry Bruckheimer.

    Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl opened in 2003 to $46.6 million over the weekend and $70.6 million over five days, leading to a huge $305.4 million mark domestically (US and Canada) and $654 million worldwide.
