    AME: Ogilvy wins three gold

    MUMBAI: Indian agencies were placed well at the 9th edition of Asian Marketing Effectiveness Awards, with all the 19 shortlists being on the winning side.

    While Ogilvy won top honours with three gold, BBDO India took home one gold.

    Ogilvy & Mather‘s ‘BlackBerry boys‘ won gold in the category of best insights/strategic thinking; its ‘how we sold chocolate bars equaling more than 2.5 times the Great Wall‘ and ‘how ringing the bell can reduce violence against women‘ were recognised  in best insights / strategic thinking group.

    The agency also won three silvers and one bronze.

    BBDO India‘s ‘W.A.L.S. – women against lazy stubble‘ campaign was omnipresent.

    This project won five awards in different categories, with one gold, one silver and three bronze awards.

    It won a gold metal in the category of best marketing campaign for national brand development.

    Mindshare India‘s ‘use mobile save paper‘ campaign won two metals with a silver in most effective use of interactive marketing category and one bronze given in the most effective use of eco/green marketing group.

    The evening‘s most celebrated, Platinum award, went to Clemenger BBDO & Proximity, Melbourne for its campaign called ‘how hiding a restaurant proved that Yellow Pages worked better than ever – The Hidden Pizza Restaurant‘. The project was executed for Sensis – Yellow Pages Australia.

    Ogilvy rules Creative Abby awards

    VARCA: If the advertising industry is Formula 1, Ogilvy & Mather is Michael Schumacher. At least that is how it looked at the end of the race for the Creative Abby awards this year.

    The WPP-owned agency stole the show, winning a total of 31 awards comprising one Grand Prix, five gold, eight silver and 17 bronze metals.

    O&M ruled the Integrated category as it pocketed the Grand Prix for its work done for Cadbury Dairy Milk. O&M‘s gold winning campaigns included ‘An Eye for India‘ (Design category), ‘Dum Pukht‘ (Direct category) and Vodafone Blackberry Boys for Vodafone (Film category).

    Leo Burnett followed with three gold, eight silver and nine bronze metals.

    The Radio category turned out to be Leo Burnett‘s territory. The agency collected a total of nine awards from this category, including three gold for clients Saathi, Bajaj Exhaust Fans and HP Racer 4.

    A total of six agencies grabbed two gold medals each, but Mudra Communications is ahead in terms of the total number of trophies
    garnered. Mudra won a staggering 37 titles, which is more than any other agency.

    Mudra won its two gold trophies for the campaign created for Electrolux Machine as it dominated the Print and Printcraft categories. The agency also won 13 silver and 22 bronze metals.

    This year a total of 46 agencies made it to the winner‘s list.

    McCann Worldgroup took home a total of 16 awards – two gold, three silver and 11 bronze, while Creativeland Asia bagged nine – two gold, four silver and three bronze trophies.

    The other names are Chrome Pictures with two gold and one silver and a bronze; Footcandles Film with two gold, three silver and one bronze trophy; and Flagship Advertising with two gold and one silver.

    Bates 141 walked away with one gold, two silver and six bronze titles. Bang Bang Films took home one gold and two silver metals, completing the top ten list.

    Ogilvy Africa ropes in Sandeep Madan as MD

    MUMBAI: Sandeep Madan, who had quit recently as Rediffuson Y&R EVP, is joining Ogilvy Africa as managing director.

    Madan was with the Delhi branch of Rediffuson Y&R since over three years.

    Madan confirmed that he will be joining Ogilvy Africa in the last week of February or early March.

    In his career spanning over 15 years, Madan has worked with agencies such as Publicis India, Enterprise Nexus (now Bates David Enterprise), iB&W Communnications and McCann-Erickson.

    Madan has worked for brands such as Metlife India, Skoda, General Motors India, Hewlett-Packard India, Aviva Life Insurance and Perfetti India.

    Ogilvy’s RedWorks bags creative mandate of Ampa Skywalk

    MUMBAI: Ogilvy‘s RedWorks has bagged the creative duties of Chennai‘s famous mall, Ampa Skywalk.

    The mandate was awarded following a multi-agency pitch.

    Says RedWorks Ogilvy Chennai and national head president, “Ampa Skywalk never had a creative agency before. This is the first time they have brought a creative agency on record on board. We have already started the work.”

    RedWorks is Ogilvy‘s global BTL (below the line) creative and adaptation division. Last year, it was launched in India and currently has project management and creative capabilities in Bangalore and Chennai.

    Ampa Skywalk offers brands such as Adidas, Reebok, Lee, Wrangler, Allen Solly, BIBA, Soles, Mustard and Health & Glow.

    Lowe Lintas wins creative duties of Matix Group

    MUMBAI: After a multi agency pitch that involved agencies like JWT, Ogilvy and Mega Vision, Lowe Lintas has won the creative duties of Matix Group‘s Matix Fertilisers & Chemicals.

    Linterland, the agency‘s specialist rural communication and marketing arm, has bagged the media duties and the rural marketing account. The account size pegged at Rs.50 million would be headed by Lowe Lintas Executive Vice President D.K. Guha.

    The Matix Group, a subsidiary of the Datamatics Group is building a path-breaking Greenfield fertilizer complex. This multi faceted project that will create direct and indirect employment as well as introduce farmers to world-class fertilizers and agro products will be a boon to rural sector in Eastern India.

    Lowe Lintas‘ clients include Unilever, Idea, Tata Tea, Bajaj Auto Ltd, ICICI Life Insurance, BPCL, Britannia, ET Now and BBC World News.

    Adclub shortlists 81 entries for Effies 2010

    MUMBAI: Advertising Club of Bombay has shortlisted 81 entries for Effies 2010, out of the 276 entries it had received.

    The awards will be held in Mumbai on 7 November. This year Effie has introduced three new categories and various sub-categories for three of the existing ones. There were nine categories for which the entries were shortlisted. No nominations were shortlisted for the Mobile Advertising category. 

    Ogilvy & Mather, the winner of last year’s Agency of the Year award, leads the pack of shortlisted entries with 17 nominations followed by Lowe Lintas with 16 and Mudra Group with 14 entries. Last year’s runner-up agency JWT has got 10 of its entries shortlisted.

    “I am happy that Ogilvy has been nominated across categories and for various clients. It shows that Ogilvy is doing a creative work”, Ogilvy & Mather executive chairman and creative director South India Piyush Pandey told Indiantelevision.

    Some of the Ogilvy’s shortlisted entries are for Dove, Center fresh, Adidas, Cadbury, Fevicol, Pulsar, Tata Sky, Vodafone and Star Plus

    Lowe Lintas entries are for Clinic Plus, Fair and Lovely, Tata Tea, BAJAJ DISCOVER DTS-Si, Idea Cellular, ET NOW and Hindustan Times.

    The entries shortlisted for Mudra include Volkswagen, 3 Idiots and The Economic Times.

    Apart from these, the other agencies that have been shortlisted are BBDO India with six entries, DRAFTFCB Ulka Advertising with five, Bates 141 with four, Contract Advertising India and CreativelandAsia with 2 nominations each.

    McCann Erickson India, Rediffusion Y&R, Dentsu Communications, Publicis Ambience and Grey Worldwide (India) have got one shortlisted entry each.
     

  • Piyush Pandey elected to Ogilvy Worldwide Board

    MUMBAI: Ogilvy & Mather has announced that Piyush Pandey, has been nominated on the Ogilvy Worldwide Board. Piyush is currently Ogilvy & Mather India chairman and national creative director.
    Speaking on the occasion, Ogilvy India & South Asia co-executive chairman and chief operating officer S.N. Rane said, “This is a great honour for Piyush and Ogilvy India. It is well deserved and well overdue.”

    Addressing Ogilvy’s Worldwide heads of offices and senior management Shelly Lazarus said, “Piyush’s creative leadership is well respected both in India and abroad. His work has won numerous prestigious national and international awards, besides being the first Asian ever to serve as the President of the Cannes Jury. We have been fortunate to have Piyush’s talent on the Worldwide Creative Council for the past several years. We are now even more fortunate to have him on the Worldwide Board.

    Radio City inducts Rana Barua as south head

    MUMBAI: Radio City has made three top-level appointments to facilitate its growth and expansion plans, following the recent acquisition of 16 new FM broadcast licenses and the launch of its stations in Hyderabad, Chennai and Jaipur.

    Rana Barua has been appointed as head – south zone, Mohan Vizhakat as head – technology and IT and Anil Dhimri as head – projects / infrastructure at Radio City.
    As part of his new assignment, Barua will be responsible for three key markets – Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai.

    Barua is an experienced hand in the advertising industry with stints in agencies such as Rediffusion / Dentsu Y&R Mumbai, McCann – Erickson, Lowe, Ogilvy and JWT for over 10 years. Prior to joining Radio City, Barua held the position of VP and GM at Bates Enterprise, Mumbai.

    The private FM radio company has also appointed Vizhakat, who has over 19 years of experience in project management, IT infrastructure management, consultancy, IT-telecom integrated solutions, networking, information security across industry segments.

    Vizhakat has also received distinguished award and decoration from the president of India on the Republic Day 2001 for exemplary performance in project management during his tenure in the armed forces. A few of his previous assignments include Airtel Enterprise Solutions, Indecomm Global Services, Defence Research and Development Organization, informs an official release.

    On other other hand, as head – projects / infrastructure, Dimri comes in with more than 27 years of experience, and has handled several large office infrastructure projects with emphasis on cost saving in esteemed organisations like Tata Teleservices, Tata Cellular and Tata Unisys Limited to name a few.

    Radio City CEO Apurva Purohit says, “Radio City has always aimed to bring on board the best talent available.
