    MUMBAI: It was a healthy dose of optimism and innovation at the Times Network India Health Summit & Awards 2025, where policymakers, doctors, and industry leaders came together to chart the future of Indian healthcare. With 103 winners felicitated, the event celebrated excellence across hospitals, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and health-tech.

    Chief guest minister of state for health & family welfare and chemicals & fertilisers government of India Anupriya Patel, set the tone with an inspiring address highlighting how far India’s healthcare system has come and how much further it aims to go.

    “India’s healthcare system has undergone a profound transformation,” she said, noting that spending has nearly doubled from 1.1 per cent to 2 per cent of GDP, with the government targeting 2.5 per cent under the National Health Policy 2017. She lauded flagship programmes like Ayushman Bharat PM-Jay, which offers Rs 5 lakh free health coverage to over 62 crore citizens, and Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) IDs, which have already crossed 81 crore registrations.

    From doubling the number of medical colleges and Aiims institutions to slashing out-of-pocket healthcare costs, Patel underscored that “these numbers aren’t just statistics, they represent hope, access, and dignity for millions.”

    The summit also marked the launch of Times Network’s Hospital Rankings: a data-backed initiative to empower patients with greater transparency and informed choice. The first phase unveiled the All-India top five group of multi specialty hospitals.

    With a focus on innovation, accessibility, and preventive care, discussions at the summit spotlighted how AI diagnostics, telemedicine, and collaborative public-private models are redefining India’s healthcare landscape.

    MUMBAI: Havas Life Mumbai, the healthcare communications arm of Havas India, has tapped industry veteran Dorelle Kulkarni as its new managing director in a move that feels like a homecoming for both parties. Kulkarni, who previously spent a decade at what was then Sorento Healthcare (now Havas Life Mumbai), steps into the role vacated by Sangeeta Barde.

    “Joining Havas Life Mumbai feels like a homecoming,” said Kulkarni, who brings 30 years of health and wellness marketing expertise to the table. “I am excited to collaborate with a team that shares my passion for innovation and excellence in healthcare communications.”

    The appointment comes at a critical juncture for healthcare communications in India, which stands “at the forefront” of the global healthcare revolution, according to global chief client officer and CEO Havas Health Latam & APAC Charles Houdoux. Kulkarni will report directly to Houdoux while working closely with Havas India, SEA, and North Asia  group CEO Rana Barua.

    Kulkarni’s has had  stints at Publicis Health and Lowe Lintas, where she managed blue-chip clients such as Abbott, GSK, Pfizer and Novartis. Her appointment is expected to bolster Havas Life Mumbai’s position as a key player in Havas’s global health and wellness network.

    “Her deep industry expertise, strategic vision, and passion for innovation will be instrumental in shaping the next phase of growth,” said Barua, who also thanked outgoing chief Sangeeta Barde for her leadership.

    With over three decades of diverse experience in high-impact industries such as FMCG, pharma, industrials, life sciences, and diagnostics, Jai’s career began at Hindustan Unilever. He has since held key leadership roles at prominent companies including GlaxoSmithKline, Novartis, and Danaher Corp.

    Notably, Jai served as managing director &d CEO for Danaher Corp in India, where he scaled the business nearly tenfold within six years. He later became regional president for Asia Pacific, overseeing a revenue stream exceeding $2.5 billion and chairing the APAC board.

    In 2019, he took on the role of president for high growth markets at Danaher, managing critical markets that contributed significantly to the company’s $10 billion+ revenue.

    In addition to his corporate roles, Jai is active on the boards of several respected organisations and is committed to community service with various non-profits.

    Team Infosys crowned champions at Corporate Badminton Championship

    Mumbai: Team Infosys crowned champions at the fifth edition of the Corporate Badminton Championship on Sunday at the high-quality sports centre in Hyderabad.

    In a thrilling Championship Cup final, Team Infosys defeated Team Optum to claim the trophy, while Team Novartis overcame the challenge of Team JP Morgan Chase in the Challengers Cup final. The chairman of Kankanala Sports Group, Abhishek Reddy Kankanala was the chief guest of the event and gave the awards to the winners.

    “The Corporate Badminton Championship is a great initiative by Gamepoint that aims to promote and incorporate the numerous benefits of sports amongst the employees in the corporate world, thereby promoting improved physical health, mental well-being, and encouraging enhanced teamwork among the employees,” stated Abhishek Reddy Kankanala after attending the event.

    Commenting on the tournament, Gamepoint co-founder Siddharth Reddy stated, “I congratulate all the winners of the Corporate Badminton Championship.     Meanwhile, in the individual events, Rutwika Das of TCS defeated Geetha (JPMC) 30-23 to win the women’s singles trophy, while Pranava Jain clinched the men’s singles title with a walkover. Avvaru Sathish Babu and Donthu Sai Ram (FINMKT) overcame Bharath & Manoj of Infosys 30-22 to claim the men’s doubles event.

    The women’s doubles title went to Pooja & Ritwika Das (TCS), who beat Geetha & Nikitha (JPMC) by 30-26. Infosys’ Bharath & Mousam claimed the mixed doubles event with a 30-25 win over Pranava Jain & Riya Kumari of Microsoft. Wipro’s Raghu Vamshi P clinched the title in 35 plus Men’s singles category after defeating Satya R (Service Now) 30-18, while Abdul Zabbar & Deepak Dixit of Novartis won 35 plus Mens doubles event with 30-21 victory against Jagadeesh & Nandikolla Srinadh (Optum).

    The corporate Badminton Championship was conducted in a unique team event format along with seven individual events. In the team event, a total of eight companies participated which included JP Morgan Chase and Co., Goldman Sachs, INFOSYS, Novartis India Limited, Colruyt group, FinMkt, Samrat Group, alongside last year’s winner Optum.

    More than 100 participants took part in seven individual events. Each game in the tournament was decided by a single game of 30 points.

    More than 100 participants will be competing in seven individual events including Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Singles, Women’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles, 35+ Men’s Singles, and 35+ Men’s Doubles.

    Each game in the tournament will be decided by a single game of 30 points.
