    Nodwin Gaming invests Eur eight million in Germany-based Freaks 4U Gaming

    Mumbai: NODWIN Gaming International Pte. Ltd (NODWIN), a fully-owned subsidiary of premier gaming and esports company, NODWIN Gaming, today announced an investment of Eur eight million in Freaks 4U Gaming GmbH, a global full-service gaming and esports company, marking a significant financial endorsement in the global gaming industry.

    With its convertible loan agreement of 3.6 million Euro initiated on 27 December 2023 now converted into equity, NODWIN has acquired additional shares of Freaks 4U Gaming with a contribution of 4.4 million Euro. The total investment of NODWIN in Freaks 4U Gaming stands at 8 million euros for a 13.51 per cent stake in the company. NODWIN also has the option to acquire majority control in the future by swapping the equity of Freaks 4U Gaming investors and founders with NODWIN shares.

    As part of this agreement, NODWIN and Freaks 4U Gaming will exclusively start utilizing resources in each other’s key territories such as personnel, equipment and facilities. NODWIN  will get access to the Freaks 4U Gaming network across the developed markets, the PC ecosystem and the full-service capabilities they have. Freaks 4U Gaming in turn will get access to NODWIN ’s emerging market network, and facility capabilities in the mobile esports and youth culture ecosystems. NODWIN will appoint Niels Wolter to the Freaks 4U Gaming advisory board to consult on strategy, operations and integration, ensuring the synergy benefits identified by NODWIN and Freaks 4U Gaming are realised on time.

    Mumbai: NODWIN Gaming the esports and gaming industry in South Asia, has successfully acquired Comic Con India, a renowned company celebrated for organizing numerous pop cultural festivals across the country. This strategic acquisition not only broadens NODWIN Gaming’s portfolio but also signifies a significant expansion into the global entertainment landscape.

    NODWIN Gaming will acquire 100 per cent of Comic Con India’s shares at a valuation of Ra 55 crore through a cash and share swap from its founders, Jatin Varma and Karan Kalra. The managing team will also become shareholders by swapping 27.5 Crores of their Comicon India shares with NODWIN shares.

    Comic Con India founder Jatin Varma stated “For more than a decade, we have worked tirelessly to build a unique space in India for promoting and celebrating popular culture.     Mumbai: NODWIN Gaming, one of the world’s leading emerging market gaming and esports media company, in association with Star Sports, India’s leading sports broadcaster, has announced the highly anticipated return of India’s biggest esports tournament, BGMI Masters Series.  Building upon its record-shattering success in season 1, the upcoming season 2 of the BGMI Masters Series which kicks off on August 4, will feature 24 teams, and offer one of the highest-ever prize pools of INR 2.1 crore (over USD 250K) for a non-publisher event. 

    Among the 24 teams, 14 esports outfits will be invited directly, while the remaining 10 spots are to be earned by the victors from the Open Qualifier where anyone in India can participate. The high-octane live broadcast of the BGMI Masters Series Season 2 will kick off at 9:30 pm on the Star Sports Network and Rooter. 

    The television broadcast of the inaugural season of the BGMI Masters Series (2022) was a tremendous success, garnering over 36 million viewers over the course of the tournament. In celebration of that success, BGMI Masters Series Season 2 will be broadcast on Star Sports in three different languages – Hindi, English, and Tamil. This initiative undertaken by NODWIN Gaming, and Star Sports aims to connect core esports with viewers from various linguistic and cultural backgrounds, making esports content more inclusive and appealing to a broader audience.     The digital broadcast of the Masters Series 2022 followed suit with the television broadcasts’ record-breaking performance and surpassed the 100 million viewership milestone, setting a new record in the history of Indian esports. For the upcoming BGMI Masters Series Season 2, NODWIN Gaming has announced its partnership with India’s biggest gaming and esports content platform Rooter as the championship’s digital streaming partner.     Mumbai: Nodwin Gaming’s upcoming DreamHack event, scheduled from 4-6 November will also celebrate “chess.” This is in addition to the gaming fun at the event.

    In partnership with comedian Samay Raina & ChessBase India, Nazara Technologies’ Nodwin Gaming has planned a chess celebration which includes an open tournament, a death-match between two grandmasters—Gukesh D and Arjun Erigaisi, Comedians over the Board (COTB), free chess workshops, along with some fun activities like hand-and-brain, a Simul exhibition, and a meet-and-greet with other chess stars. A total prize pool of Rs 10 lakh has been announced for the winners of the DreamHack Rapid and Blitz chess tournaments that are open to all.

    “By bringing a much respected and one of the oldest sports like chess to the DreamHack, we’re giving fans the experience of a lifetime! The super success of our chess league showed us how loved the game is in India and how passionate this community is, which is why we wanted to celebrate chess at DreamHack.     Erigaisi added, “I was closely following the first edition of the deathmatch between Anish and Vidit. It was so thrilling and intense. Now I’m super delighted to be playing the second edition of Deathmatch, that too against a very strong opponent like Gukesh. Also, as far as I can recall, this is going to be my first one-on-one OTB, that too in my backyard in Hyderabad. So all in all, extremely excited.”

    For the first time, Comedians on the Board (COTB), an event in the world of chess that has always been hosted online by Samay Raina, will go live at DreamHack. Eight of the strongest chess-playing stand-up comedians, including Tanmay Bhat, Samay Raina, Biswa Kalyan, Joel D’souza, Anirban Dasgupta, Vaibhav Sethia, Manik Mahna, and Sumit Sourav, will face off against each other to win the Rs 5,00,000 prize and to become the ultimate COTB champion on 4 November.

    On the workshop front, there is a line up which includes: How to stream chess in an effective way by Samay Raina; How to make chess exciting in terms of teaching and commentating by Sagar Shah; and What is needed to pursue a career as an arbiter by one of India’s finest chess arbiters, IA Vivek Sohani.
