Birla Open Minds expands its reach, schooling east India with three new campuses

MUMBAI: A chalkboard revolution is underway in the east. Birla Open Minds has rolled out three spanking new campuses across Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Bihar, bringing its vision of education with a conscience to the doorsteps of thousands more students.

The latest openings-located in Koderma, Singur, and Punpun-add heft to the brand’s footprint and bolster its mission of making learning a liberating experience, not just a mandated task. With this launch, Birla Open Minds is scripting a new chapter in accessible, values-driven schooling in India.

The campuses span preschool to grade 12 and operate on an educational model rooted in academic rigour, empathy, and experiential learning. Classrooms are digitised, science and maths labs are fitted for experimentation, libraries are wired for research, and arts and athletics are given a front-row seat.

“Our mission is to build transformative learning ecosystems that ignite curiosity, nurture character, and empower students to question, imagine, and lead with purpose,” said Birla Open Minds MD Nirvaan Birla. “Each new campus brings us closer to a future where quality education is a powerful, accessible reality for every child – not a privilege, but a promise.”

Director & COO Yatharth Gautam added, “As we extend our footprint into Koderma, Singur, and Punpun, our priority remains clear – to provide accessible, forward-thinking education that builds resilience, empathy, and innovation in every learner.”

The new campuses, built to be more than just schools, include amphitheatres, arts hubs, and sports zones, designed to encourage balance between book-smarts and life-skills. These spaces aim to create future-ready learners with a global mindset and a rooted moral compass.

This move marks a significant stride in the institution’s broader goal: reimagining Indian education as inclusive, intuitive, and deeply impactful-one inspired learner at a time.

Birla Open Minds makes a smart move with hands-on STEM spark in schools

MUMBAI: Plug in and play on! Birla Open Minds is rebooting the way students learn, swapping rote memorisation for robotics and chalkboards for circuits. In a bid to prepare students for the tech-first world, the education group has joined hands with Centrado Tech Solutions to roll out a structured, future-focused STEM programme across its schools.

The initiative will bring hands-on learning in Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and Robotics into classrooms turning students into creators, not just consumers of technology. Aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP), the curriculum is designed for all grades and will use co-branded STEM kits and interactive digital platforms to make science and technology more accessible and far more fun.

Birla Open Minds managing director Nirvaan Birla said, “At Birla Open Minds, we are committed to shaping the leaders of tomorrow by providing an education that keeps pace with the evolving world. This collaboration with Centrado is a testament to our vision of fostering innovation and excellence in learning. By integrating hands-on STEM education into our curriculum, we are ensuring that our students don’t just keep up with technological advancements but become the pioneers of the future.”

Centrado, known for its immersive STEAM-based learning ecosystem, will supply more than just tech. The programme includes teacher training, onboarding support, video-led learning, and real-time assessments, ensuring seamless integration and sustained impact.

Centrado Tech Solutions Pvt. Ltd founder & managing director Anuradha added, “Centrado is proud to collaborate with Birla Open Minds in shaping the future of education through STEM. Our goal is to spark curiosity and enhance problem-solving abilities among students. By integrating AI, IoT, and Robotics, we are enabling the next generation to think critically and embrace technological advancements with confidence.”

What sets the programme apart is its dual model of learning. Students will dive into collaborative, project-based learning in school, while also exploring real-world concepts independently at home. The idea is to give them both structure and freedom, a potent mix for sparking innovation.

In a world where algorithms are shaping everything from playlists to policies, this collaboration aims to shape the next generation of problem-solvers who can code, construct, and creatively navigate complexity. For the students of Birla Open Minds, STEM is no longer just an acronym, it’s a way of thinking.

  • The balance between technology and human touch in education and how teachers are adapting to these changes

The balance between technology and human touch in education and how teachers are adapting to these changes

Mumbai: I wish to begin with a thought-provoking question: Can technology and AI replace teachers? Technology will not replace teachers who use it judiciously to enhance their teaching skills

The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted learning environments and classrooms in early 2020, compelling many schools to transition to distance learning. The widespread adoption of technology to connect students and teachers during this crisis accelerated trends that were already in motion

Over the past few decades, and especially due to COVID-19, learning spaces have undergone a significant transformation. In both face-to-face and online settings, educators have witnessed a profound evolution at the intersection of teaching and technology.

    Technology-Enabled Classrooms

In traditional brick-and-mortar classrooms, the introduction of smart boards and other interactive display tools has allowed teachers to bring their lessons to life, fostering a more engaging and dynamic learning environment. These technological advancements have enabled educators to illustrate complex concepts through multimedia, simulations, and video graphics, helping students comprehend and apply information firsthand.

The role of the teacher has shifted from being the sole disseminator of knowledge to a facilitator who guides students through interactive and visually stimulating educational experiences

The New Role of Teachers in the Tech Age

New classroom technologies, management tools, and collaboration tools are significantly enhancing teaching experiences. HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills) and LOTS (Lower Order Thinking Skills), central to the Birla Open Minds Curriculum, combined with technology, improve learning outcomes by allowing students to problem-solve, analyze, and become digital natives while maintaining a balanced human approach and sustainable use of resources.

The benefits of embracing technology are evident. As teachers integrate technology, their administrative tasks have lessened, and technology has become an effective enabler for creating content, lessons, and curriculum materials. This integration helps teachers understand and address the learning needs of their students more effectively.

Teachers are now able to monitor more students simultaneously, assign lesson plans that students receive when ready, and share actionable content through a network of technology-enabled tools, both in the classroom and at home.

  • Hola Media Group revolutionises OOH advertising with performance metrics for Birla Braniacs

Hola Media Group revolutionises OOH advertising with performance metrics for Birla Braniacs

Mumbai: Hola Media Group, a renowned 360-degree marketing and advertising agency in India, conducted an out-of-home (OOH) campaign for Birla Braniacs using performance metrics. It was the first time Birla Braniacs opted for performance metrics, and the campaign resulted in the best outcome for the brand. For this campaign, Hola Media Group partnered with Moving Walls to validate its OOH campaigns through digital analytics and insights and measure the performance. As a part of the partnership, Moving Walls measured the performance of Hola Media’s campaign for Birla Brainiacs, which was run at multiple high-visibility sites in Mumbai and Bengaluru. By introducing digital metrics for an OOH campaign, Hola Media Group has brought measurable data points, a path-breaking achievement for outdoor campaigns in India.

Hola Media’s partner for campaign measurement, Moving Walls, is a leading provider of enterprise software in the ad-tech and media-tech sectors. The company’s patented data and result-driven solutions ensure that brands leveraging the services can engage the right audience at the right time. Moving Walls provided the Digital Out-of-Home data-led verification and post-campaign reporting to Hola Media Group, facilitating in-campaign analytics and campaign performance access for better optimization.

Speaking about this, Hola Media Group founder Dushyant Mehta said, “OOH advertising continues to lose ground to digital marketing mediums due to the lack of accurate campaign performance measurement at par with the online channels. By partnering with Moving Walls, we have overcome this barrier and ushered in a new transformation in the advertising industry in India. The digital monitoring of the 2-month long OOH campaign for Birla Brainiacs generated numerous invaluable insights that can add tremendous value to the advertisers and advertising agencies in the times ahead. It is a matter of great pride for Hola Media Group to have been the first agency in India to strive for such campaign measurement analytics and drive better outcomes. We look forward to many more such accomplishments through this partnership with Moving Walls.”

Birla Brainiacs founder Nirvaan Birla said, “We were able to get the kind of data points that had been exclusive to our digital marketing efforts so far. However, integrating digital measurement with the campaign helped us yield better outcomes from the current campaign and has also unlocked new performance potential for future OOH campaigns.”

Among the key insights generated by the successful performance measurement, it was found that afternoons and evening hours generate maximum reach and visibility for OOH displays, and nights and morning hours witness significantly lower engagement. The data points generated also provided the detailed performance of each OOH site separately and the overall campaign measurement data.

“The education industry has changed dramatically over the last few years alone,” said Moving Walls Group CEO Srikanth Ramachandran. “Technology now defines and determines the shape it will take. The advent of cutting-edge flipped classroom models and self-directed study has evolved so much that technology is essential for education today. Moving Walls is proud to be associated with EdTech changemakers such as Birla Brainiacs through this partnership with Hola Media Group.”

Sharing his thoughts, Birla Brainiacs CEO Muddassar Nazar said, “OOH campaigns play a key role in helping us deliver our message to the target audience. Through this path-breaking approach of digitally measuring the campaign performance in detail, Hola Media Group has given us great insights into the performance and data to help us determine our future advertising strategies.”

The partnership on the Birla Brainiacs campaign yielded various other highly impactful insights, such as the generation of daily and hourly engagement data, which revealed variations in visibility per day, an hour of the day, and audience insights like the audience’s gender, etc.

It was also discovered that the campaign peaked in December, generating a potential viewership of 12,380,888 and a reach of 2,278,237 overall. Such data points will be invaluable for agencies to plan their future campaigns with pinpoint accuracy. It was also identified which locations generated more reach and views for the OOH campaign than others.
