    The partnership aims to offer a mix of iconic dramas, sharp-witted comedies, genre-defining documentaries, and engaging family-friendly content—all under one roof.     MUMBAI: FremantleMedia International (FMI) is set to satisfy the appetites of international audiences with its latest deal with BBC Productions for the global distribution rights (excluding the UK and EIRE) of Simply Nigella (6×30).

     

    Starring the internationally renowned food writer and TV cook Nigella Lawson, Simply Nigella will make its debut to TV buyers at the upcoming MIPCOM and air on the UK’s BBC 2 later this year.

     

    Inspiring and uplifting, Simply Nigella introduces viewers to a new-pared down approach to cooking and eating by demonstrating easy to prepare recipes that are designed to nourish the soul. The series delivers a true sense of balance between lightness and lushness with a mix of tasty everyday meals, crowd pleasing feasts and indulgent sweet treats.

     

    Creating a handful of dishes per episode, Lawson showcases her talents in the kitchen, using each recipe to connect with the audience like never before. She shares the story behind each meal and focuses on specific ingredients revealing what makes them her favourites as well as divulging her culinary tips to ensure cooking is as stress free as possible. Lawson also ventures beyond the kitchen visiting local suppliers and independent food stores to source fresh quality produce to include within her recipes. From healthy breakfasts and gluten free goodies, to decadent desserts; Simply Nigella promises food that’s not only reassuringly simple but will appeal to every palette and make us feel more alive.

    This global distribution deal sees Lawson join FMI’s ever expanding catalogue of culinary stars, which includes Jamie Oliver, Jimmy Doherty, The Hairy Bikers, Lorraine Pascal, Martha Stewart, Anthony Bourdain, Silvia Colloca, Anabel Langbein and Haylie Duff.

    TLC to air new season of ‘The Taste’

    MUMBAI: TLC is all set to air the new season of The Taste from 11 May onwards. The show will be aired on Mondays and Tuesdays at 9 pm.  

     

    The competition gets hotter as Chef Marcus Samuelsson joins Nigella Lawson, Anthony Bourdain and Ludo Lefebvre at the judging table to select Britain’s best cook.

     

    The four culinary superstars and The Taste mentors will each coach a team of four competing pro and amateur cooks chosen from a casting call, as they vie to create the best tasting dish in a state of the art kitchen. Each week the groups will face team and individual challenges with a variety of culinary themes through several elimination rounds.

     

    At the end of each episode of The Taste, the mentors will have to judge the competitors’ dishes blindfolded, with no knowledge of whose creation they’re sampling, what they’re eating, how it was prepared or whom they could be sending home.

    One blind spoonful is all it will take to win the judges over with The Taste on TLC. Celebrity chefs in India are excited about the series and have picked their favourites.

    Diva, New Delhi celebrity chef and co-owner Ritu Dalmia added, “I am very partial towards Nigella! Even though I love the way Anthony writes, and books on his food journeys, when it comes to food I find Nigella a lot more appealing. So, I will be rooting for Team Nigella!”

     

    Olive Bar and Kitchen Sous chef Dhruv Oberoi said, “I will cheer for Nigella. Her dishes work well for people across all ages and her cooking style is simple yet so classic. And of course, she is beautiful so that helps gets my vote too.”

    TLC to launch new series – ‘The Taste’

    MUMBAI: Lifestyle channel from Discovery Network’s stable, TLC is all set to air a culinary battle between food writer and television presenter Nigella Lawson, chef and television personality Anthony Bourdain and chef Ludo Lefebvre in the new series The Taste. Starting 2 March, the show will be aired every Monday and Tuesday at 9 pm.

     

    The show will feature 12 competitors from varied backgrounds, cooking dishes in an attempt to impress the three chefs. Three teams of four aspiring chefs are mentored by the trio, where they take on each other to survive the extreme fight to be the first winner of The Taste.

    All the dishes will be judged in a blind taste test. Each episode will witness the collision of fiery challenges, blind-taste eliminations and simmering egos which are cooked up as the contestants’ battle it out to please the palates of the mentors.

    MUMBAI: Travel and Lifestyle channel is launching a latest international show- The Taste.

    Fox Traveller is teaming, for the first-time ever, with internationally acclaimed culinary geniuses – Anthony Bourdain, Nigella Lawson, Brian Malarkey and Ludo Lefebvre who will get down to what truly matters, the way the food tastes!

    The show will feature the chefs who will in return select 16 contestants – both amateur and professional cooks – by tasting just one spoonful of their food while they are blindfold. The judges then mentor their team of four contestants, but the blind tasting continues, meaning a judge may unwittingly vote off their own team member.

    Elaborating on FOX Traveller’s decision to bring ‘The Taste’ to India, Fox International Channels vice president marketing Debarpita Banerjee said, “We continue to introduce different twists and perspectives to travel, food and lifestyle. With this show, we are confident of breathing a fresh lease of life into the way cooking reality shows are seen, in our country.”

    The Taste will air every Friday at 9:00 pm starting 18 October 2013 only on Fox Traveller.
