    Bharat 24 announces senior-level appointments in key function of the sales & marketing team

    Mumbai: Soon-to-be launched national hindi news channel, Bharat 24, has kept the industry buzzing with a slew of new appointments. Recently, the channel has announced senior-level appointments in key functions of sales and marketing ahead of its launch.

    Bhim Shankar Negi has joined Bharat 24 as vice president (North and East). With over 16 years of media sales experience, Negi is known for increasing revenue with his solution-based approach, especially with selling events, IP’s and customized brand solutions for his clients. In his previous role, he has worked with leading media networks like Zee Media, Network18, NDTV and The Times of India.

    Speaking on his appointment, Negi said, “It is a privilege to have been entrusted with this new responsibility. While Bharat 24 is the first-to-introduce augmented reality in its studios, we are confident of offering a wide range of customized media solutions to fraternity”.

    Partha Sarthi Kuila is appointed as vice president for the west and south region. He will be based out of the Mumbai Office. In his illustrious career spanning over two decades, Partha has been responsible for driving ad sales revenue from the west & south markets where he has worked with Zee Media, Sab TV, Network18, 9X Media, Star India and Red FM.

    Speaking about his new role, Sarthi Kuila said, “I am extremely delighted to join the team at Bharat 24. My experience and learnings will help me charter into newer arenas to tap into the full potential of the channel.”

    The channel also announced the appointment of Nishant Mishra as vice president of marketing. He will be responsible for the brand’s launch and other marketing activities in his national role.

    Nishant has been instrumental in creating successful brand strategy, curating IP’s and customized brand solutions for the leading media brands he has worked with in his career spreading over 15 years like TV Today, TV 18, Zee and iTV Network. Before joining Bharat 24, he was associated with India Ahead News as DGM, Marketing & Branded Content.

    iTV Network launches new show ‘Mukhya Mantri Manch’

    Mumbai: iTV Network has announced a series called “Mukhya Mantri Manch” which will air on its channels India News and NewsX. The show will showcase interactive interviews with chief ministers from across India over the next 20 days, daily.

    “The interviews will give an opportunity for people from the state to ask questions to their chief ministers on camera and through social media,” said the statement. “The chief ministers will also offer guidance to young people, especially students powered by First In Class.”

    The first episode will feature Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant and will go live on 6 May starting at 6 p.m. The programme will also be streamed live on major OTT platforms including Dailyhunt, Zee5, ShemarooMe, JioTV, Watcho, MX Player, Mzaalo, Tata Play, Public TV and Paytm live streams.

    “Building on our legacy of innovative and engaging programming, iTV network will continue to host such impactful programmes keeping viewers at the core of its strategy,” said iTV Network founder Kartikeya Sharma. “It’ll be a pleasure to host chief ministers from across the country to participate in some of the most compelling discussions on our network.”

    Mumbai: Zee Business has grabbed the position of top business channel in India in the critical broadcast segment, according to data provided to the business channel by Broadcast Audience Research Council (Barc).

    According to the relative share data released by the association (Business news genre, week 10 of 2022 (avg rolling data) HSM all 22+ male ABC, 0600 – 2400 hrs), Zee Business scored the top place with 59.7 percent relative share, while the rest of the business news channels combined have 40.3 per cent relative share.

    Kerala HC upholds ban on Malayalam channel MediaOne

    Mumbai: The Kerala high court has dismissed the appeal by Malayalam news channel against the single judge order upholding the recent ban imposed on it by the ministry of information and broadcasting citing security concerns.

    A division bench of chief justice S Manikumar and justice Shaji P Chaly upheld the order passed by the ministry of information and broadcasting refusing the broadcast license granted to MediaOne. “We have perused the confidential files and we are convinced that there is threat to national security,” said the bench while pronouncing the verdict.

    Madhyamam Broadcasting Limited which operates the channel MediaOne had applied for renewal of permission on 3 May 2021 and was denied security clearance by the ministry of home affairs. Subsequently, the ministry of information and broadcasting revoked the company’s license to uplink and downlink Malayalam news channel MediaOne on 31 January citing security concerns.

    As per the I&B ministry’s order, clause 9.2 of the uplinking guidelines stipulates that security clearance of a company and its directors is a prerequisite condition for grant of permission for TV channels.

    In addition to the channel, appeals were also filed by its employees including its editor against the I&B ministry’s decision which were also rejected by a single judge on 8 February.

    This is the second time that the channel has been barred from airing. In March 2020, Asianet News and MediaOne TV had been barred for 48 hours by I&B ministry citing security concerns.

    Mumbai: The Kerala high court has issued a two-day stay on the ministry of information and broadcasting (MIB) order revoking the permission for downlinking and uplinking of Malayalam news channel MediaOne.

    Madhyamam Broadcasting Ltd which operates the channel MediaOne had applied for renewal of permission on 3 May 2021 was denied security clearance by the ministry of home affairs. In response to a show-cause notice sent by MIB, the company mentioned that they are “unaware of the grounds for denial of security clearance.”

    According to the MIB order, clause 9.2 of the uplinking guidelines stipulates that security clearance of a company and its directors is a prerequisite condition for grant of permission for TV channels which is up for renewal every ten years.

This is the second time that the MediaOne channel has been barred from airing. In March 2020, Asianet News and MediaOne TV had been barred for 48 hours by MIB citing security concerns.

    Mumbai: The ministry of information and broadcasting (MIB) on Monday revoked the permission granted to Madhyamam Broadcasting Ltd to uplink and downlink the Malayalam news channel MediaOne citing security concerns.

    The MIB granted permission to the MediaOne channel to be aired on 30 September 2011 which was valid up till 29 September 2021. According to the ministry order, clause 9.2 of the uplinking guidelines stipulates that security clearance of a company and its directors is a prerequisite condition for grant of permission for TV channels which is up for renewal every ten years.

    Madhyamam Broadcasting Ltd which had applied for renewal of permission on 3 May 2021 was denied security clearance by the ministry of home affairs. In response to a show-cause notice sent by MIB, the company mentioned that they are “unaware of the grounds for denial of security clearance.”

    On its social media handles, MediaOne has put out a statement attributed to its editor Pramod Raman. It reads, “MediaOne telecast has once again been disallowed by the ministry of information and broadcasting, government of India, citing security reasons. The government has not been forthcoming with the details.”

    It added “MediaOne is taking urgent legal steps for the restoration of the channel and hope to get back to the viewers as soon as we can. For the time being, we are suspending our telecast confident that justice will prevail.”

    According to media reports, the company has moved to the Kerala high court to secure a stay order. This is the second time that the channel has been barred from airing. In March 2020, Asianet News and MediaOne TV had been barred for 48 hours by MIB citing security concerns.
