    L&K Saatchi & Saatchi appoints Balakrishna Gajelli as executive creative director

    Mumbai: L&K Saatchi & Saatchi, part of Publicis Groupe India, has appointed Balakrishna Gajelli as its  executive creative director. He will be based in the agency’s Mumbai office and report to L&K Saatchi & Saatchi’s CCO Kartik Smetacek.  

    With over 17 years of experience encompassing art, design, branding & creative direction in  advertising, Gajelli has crafted creative communications for renowned brands such as P&G,  VISA, Bumble, Johnson’s Baby, Pillsbury, Amul, Tata Salt, Tata Indicom, Idea Mobile, ITC  Foods, Crompton, and many others.

    His outstanding contributions and wide-ranging expertise in the advertising and marketing  field earned him a place among top 5 creative directors globally in The Big Won report for  2016. Additionally, he has been recognized as the #1 Hottest Creative in India by the  Campaign Brief Asia Creative Ranking. Previously, Bala has worked with FCB Ulka, BBDO India  and Leo Burnett India.

    Commenting on his appointment, Smetaceki said, “This will be the second time I’m working with Bala. He’s a solid thinker, a  talented designer and a trustworthy individual.     Happy mcgarrybowen appoints Mahendra Bhagat as National Creative Director

    Happy mcgarrybowen, the creative and design agency from the house of Dentsu Aegis Network, has further strengthened its creative prowess with the appointment of Mahendra Bhagat as National Creative Director.

    With over 20 years of experience in the industry, Mahendra has worked with agencies like Enterprise, SSC&B Lintas, JWT and FCB, where he created some iconic campaigns for brands like Titan, Britannia, Times of India, Godrej and Unilever. He has been the recipient of many National and International awards including Cannes, Clio, New York Festival, London Festival as well as AME (Advertising & Marketing Effectiveness) and has been on the Jury of several prestigious Advertising awards.

    Additionally, Mahendra parallelly dabbles in various aspects of Art. He has created some intriguing pieces spanning across corporate installations, video and digital art, mixed media, contemporary paintings and sculptures. His work has been widely acclaimed by audiences in several countries.

    Josy Paul joins New York Festivals 2016 as jury

    MUMBAI : New York Festivals International Advertising Awards announced the second round of prominent creatives appointed to the 2016 Executive Jury. For the sixth year, New York Festivals will assemble 30+ of the world’s most awarded chief creative officers and executive creative directors to judge this year’s entries across all mediums and select the World’s Best Advertising winners.

    “New York Festival’s Executive Jury of celebrated creative leaders mirrors the diverse range of creative talent prevalent in the advertising industry today,” President of New York Festivals said Michael O’Rourke. “NYF is thrilled to provide our entrant’s with this esteemed jury of internationally recognized thought-leaders.”

    BBDO  India chairman and CCO Josy Paul has been announced as  part of the second round of the 2016 New York Festivals Executive Jury.

    Other judges include First Kiss Korea, CCO  Steve Keum; Officer,  McCann Erickson Romania  Chief Innovation Officer, Nir Refuah; Dentsu Inc. Japan, Head of Digital Creative/Executive Creative Director, Yasuharu Sasaki; and Y&R New York CCO Leslie Sims.

    The 2016 Executive Jury panel will gather together May 13-17th in New York City for five rounds of judging across all mediums and select 2016’s Finalists, First Prize, Second Prize, Third Prize, Grand Award winners, and Best of Show.

    The 2016 New York Show? creative panel sessions and networking events will take place on Thursday, May 19 at the NYIT Auditorium, 1871 Broadway, between 61st & 62nd Street. The New York Show gala will be held that evening in the renowned Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall, Broadway at 60th Street, with a cocktail party in the Ertegun Atrium and the awards ceremony immediately following in the Rose Theater. A celebratory after-party will follow to toast the 2016 award-winners.

    The 2016 competition final deadline is February 15th.

    KV Sridhar quits Leo Burnett India

    MUMBAI:  KV Sridhar (Pops) has finally decided to move on. Leo Burnett India and subcontinent chief creative officer will be hanging his boots on 4 May, after spending 17 years in the agency.  

     

    Pops has over 30 years of working experience in advertising and has now decided to take the leap to reinvent himself and pursue other interests.

     

    “Pops has always been a young man at heart and once again his nomadic spirit has led him to look at things afresh and follow his heart to pursue new adventures. We want to thank him for his tremendous contribution over the years, building Leo Burnett India into the creative powerhouse it is today. The agency and I will continue to build on the creative trajectory he has set,” said Leo Burnett Group India CEO Saurabh Varma.

     

    He started as a Bollywood film billboard painter and became the CCO  India  sub continent  of  Leo Burnett.  Over  the  years,  he helped the agency gain recognition at international awards shows including Cannes  Lions,  New  York  Festival,  and  local  Indian  awards.  Under his creative leadership, Leo Burnett India went on to win agency of the year in the Leo Burnett global network, twice. He also led the agency to be ranked by Creativity magazine to be among the top 20 creative  agencies  in the world.   Sridhar   has   also represented   the agency   on  many  Indian  and International award juries.

     

    “It  has  been  a  purposeful  journey  for  me  at  Leo  Burnett, growing with and having a chance to play a key role in shaping the agency’s creative  prowess.  I have had the opportunity to work  with and get to be friends with some of the brightest creative minds in the world, worked on some of the most exciting campaigns with some of the most amazing clients.

     

    For now, I would like to take a break to reinvent, rediscover and rededicate myself. I wish Saurabh and Leo Burnett great success,” said Sridhar
