    Mumbai: Network18, a major media conglomerate in India, and DistroTV, a leading independent, free, ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) platform, has announced a partnership, which will enable DistroTV users in India to stream Network18’s diverse portfolio of channels live and for free.

    New Delhi: August 28, 2023:  CNN-News18 has maintained its leadership position in the English TV news genre with an average viewership share of over 35% for more than a year now.

    As per the data issued by viewership measurement agency BARC India, CNN-News18 has captured 35.3% market share. (Source: BARC | Market: India | TG: 2+ | Period: AVG Wk 16’22 – 29’23 | 8 Channels considered | Market share%).

    In the 15+ TG (considered as the core segment by advertisers for media planning), CNN-News18 has maintained its top position by capturing 34.6% market share.

    Commenting on the long-standing leadership of CNN-News18, Network18 Group CEO (Broadcast) Avinash Kaul said, “The continued dominance of CNN-News18 in the robust All India 15+ or 2+ TG indicates the strength of the brand and the value it delivers to its advertisers. By convenient slicing and dicing of viewership data on thin slivers, the competition cannot mislead advertisers.”

    Mumbai: News personality and Wion’s ex-managing editor Palki Sharma, who recently joined Network18 Group for an upcoming project, is likely to be back with a new show soon.

    In a conversation with ANI’s managing editor Smita Prakash on her podcast, Sharma hinted at her return, hopefully, with a better show.

    In the recently announced teaser of the episode by ANI, Sharma was recalling the reason why she left her previous channel, Wion: “… left because I thought that whatever I wanted to do there, I had done there…”

    Moreover, she also shared that she did not enjoy everything that she was doing there and didn’t like the direction they were taking.

    Acknowledging the curiosity of the fans and their desire to know about her return, Sharma said, “A lot of people write to me, and every time I put a photo on Instagram, people are like, yeh toh theek hai par show kab ayega? which is nice, but I want to tell you and everyone else that… I will be back, and it will be a better show hopefully…and I want to do the show when I am ready, when I know it is going to work.”

    Sharma has over 21 years of experience across several media, including the ITV Network, Network18, Doordarshan News, and The Hindustan Times.

    She was the host of Gravitas, a popular prime-time English news programme, as well as the highly regarded digital programme Gravitas Plus on Wion. Additionally, she conceptualised and oversaw the Wion Global Summit, a channel event held annually in Dubai.

    In a career spanning over two decades, Sharma has interviewed several national and international heads of state. She has also covered important stories and events on the ground, including the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, the Quad Summits in Tokyo and Washington DC, and many others.

    At Network18, Sharma will launch a new multi-platform video project for the group. This will be her second stint at Network18, where she has earlier worked in different capacities.

    The video project to be built and led by Sharma will straddle all formats of news reporting and presentation. The new product will aim to capture a new generation of audiences for the group.

    Mumbai: Network18 group’s News18 has been having a safe and stable ride with its national Hindi as well as English news channels leading the show for several months in a row. It has now claimed leadership across all key Hindi-speaking markets (HSM).

    According to Barc data in Wk36–Wk39,TG: 15+, News18 Network has a 15.4 per cent market share, making it the country’s largest TV news network.

    News18 Bihar Jharkhand is the number one news channel in the state with a market share of 97.7 per cent. News18 UP & Uttarakhand, too, has topped the charts with a market share of 28.6 per cent, as compared to ABP Ganga’s market share of 26.2 per cent.

    News18 Rajasthan is the leading channel in the state with a market share of 57.9 per cent compared to 1st India News’ 31.6 per cent and India News Rajasthan’s 9.6 per cent.

    News18 Punjab/Haryana has claimed the key position too, with a market share of 32.1 per cent, compared to PTC News, Living India News, and MH One Prime’s 30.6 per cent, 22.1 per cent and 10.8 per cent respectively.

    Launched almost 45 days ago, News18 JKLH too has grabbed the top slot with a market share of 39.2 per cent compared to JKL 24×7 News and Gulistan News’ 36.1 per cent, and 24.7 per cent, respectively. 

    Commenting on the viewership data, Network18 CEO of Hindi news Karan Abhishek Singh said, “News18 India has been the number one national Hindi news channel for several months now. Now, News18 regional channels have claimed leadership across all key Hindi-speaking markets. It’s a message of great trust that our viewers have placed in us.”

    According to Barc ratings, News18 India bagged a 15.8 per cent market share in weeks 36–39, HSM-urban+rural, as compared to the 13 per cent share of TV9 Bharatvarsh and Aaj Tak’s 12.7 per cent.

    In the prime time slot of 2100-2200 hours (TG: 15+, HSM), News18 India’s Kishore Ajwani is ahead of Aaj Tak by 3.5 per cent with a 17.9 per cent market share in comparison to Aaj Tak’s Sudhir Chaudhary, who holds 14.4 per cent.

    Going strong on its leadership, CNN-News18, the English news channel of the Network18 group, has also fortified its position as the primary English news channel in the country by securing a market share of 31.6 per cent, as per Barc data (Wk36 – Wk 39, TG: 15+, HSM). Meanwhile, Republic TV holds the second slot with 26.6 per cent, and Times Now is in the third position with a 26.1 per cent market share.

    Even on the digital front, the News18 brands have been garnering solid traction, with their views increasing steadily across YouTube and other social media platforms.

    News18 has been heavily investing in technology and editorial resources to ensure that its content and presentation remain uniquely curated for the audience and far ahead of the competition.

    Mumbai: Colors announced it is bringing back the latest season of Bigg Boss. Megastar Salman Khan is all set to return as the host of the reality show.

    Produced by Endemol Shine India, Bigg Boss Season 16 with special partner Ching’s Schezwan Chutney, make-up partner MyGlamm, and tasting partner Priya Gold Hunk will premiere on 1 October at 9:30 p.m. on Colors & Voot.

    For this game-changing season of Bigg Boss, the channel has devised a 360-degree extensive marketing and digital strategy spread across television, outdoor, print, digital, and cinema. 

    With the tagline of the season, “Game Badlega Kyunki Ab Bigg Boss Khud Khelega,” four unique promos will be aired on network and non-network television channels in Hindi and in regional genres. The show will also be promoted in the soon to be released movie, “Vikram Vedha,” across multiplex cinema theatres in Mumbai and Delhi.

    Mumbai : She built her name as a savvy on-air anchor on the programme Gravitas and as managing editor of Zee Media’s English news channel Wion. Now Palki Sharma has hopped on to Network18 Media as managing editor. She will be heading a new video project which is slated to be multi-platform. This will be her second stint at Network18, where she has previously worked in various capacities.

    Mumbai: News18 India has announced that it continued to be the industry leader, cementing its No.1 position in the Hindi TV news space with a market share of 13.7 per cent in week 31-34’22.

    According to Barc data provided to us by News18, Aaj Tak has a market share of 11.8 percent. With a 11.5 percent market share, India TV ranks third.

    News18 said that ever since the Barc ratings have resumed, it has been steadily climbing the viewership charts.

    The channel opened at number three when the Barc ratings resumed in March this year. Over the last four months, the channel has risen steadily to acquire the top position six weeks ago. It has been investing heavily in journalistic resources, along with technology. Even on digital, the brand is garnering solid traction.

    Network18 CEO Hindi cluster Karan Abhishek Singh said, “As per the latest BARC data, we now reach 1.4 crore more viewers than Aajtak on a weekly basis. Our lead in Prime Time has only widened & we are seeing better stickiness for our content across day parts. In the latest ratings, our market share is higher than ABP and Zee News combined. We continue to invest heavily in content & this has resulted in News18 India enjoying continued preference from our viewers.”

    In prime time on weekdays (Wk 34’22, 1800-2400 hrs, TG: 15+, HSM), News18 India is ranked number one in all individual hourly time-bands. Even in (Wk 34’22, 2100-2200 hrs, TG: 15+, HSM) News18 India is leading with a 15.8 per cent share, which is 24 per cent higher than Aaj Tak.

    Additionally, News18 India has retained its No.1 position from 9-10 p.m. News18 India’s Kishore Ajwani show is ahead of India TV’s Rajat Sharma and Aajtak’s star anchor Sudhir Chaudhary.

    Mumbai: News18 Network on Monday launched News18 Jammu/Kashmir/Ladakh/Himachal on the 75th anniversary of India’s independence.

    News18 Network is now available in 18 languages with the addition of Dogri, Kashmiri and Ladakh to its bouquet.

    The brand-new channel was launched by Jammu & Kashmir lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha from The Lalit Grand Hotel, Srinagar.

    News18 group has become the first national news network to have a dedicated news channel from the region.

    The new channel’s programming will be diverse and cater to the entire region, with dedicated bulletins in the local language and will have an on-ground presence of reporters across the regions of Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh. The state-of-the-art studio, engaging graphics, and impactful show packaging will create a world-class news viewing experience.

    The editorial functions will operate from multiple locations such as Srinagar, Jammu, Leh, and Shimla. “The channel will become the voice of the people, covering their aspirations, issues, and achievements,” said the statement.

    The channel will also emphasise the coverage of the local economy, thriving sports and tourism ecosystem, regional culture, and the ever evolving socio-economic and political landscape in the region.

    On the digital front, Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh will have separate destinations that will provide in-depth ground coverage of the specific area.
