    The Indian Telly Streaming Awards is an extension of the first ever television award show (The Indian Telly Awards) in India. Its goal was to recognise the best of the streaming industry—business, creativity, and talent—as well as all of the work that goes into creating premium originals in India.

    Tata Sky Classic TV brings back golden era of Indian TV shows

    Mumbai: Rekindling the love for age-agnostic TV classics of the ’80s and ’90s, Tata Sky has launched a new service Tata Sky Classic TV – which promises to take viewers back to the golden era of Indian television. Popular TV and film actor Neena Gupta has been roped in as the face of the promotional campaign.

    Tata Sky Classic TV is being touted as the first such attempt to curate and offer all classic content on television. It is available to all subscribers on channel number 152 at no cost for the first 10 days, followed by a nominal subscription. Some of these titles can also be watched ad-free on the Tata Sky mobile app, said the company in a statement.

    “Tata Sky Classic TV brings back the nostalgia of television from the 80s and 90s with handpicked shows and titles from those decades,” said Tata Sky chief commercial and content officer Pallavi Puri. “It has been curated in partnership with Shemaroo who are experts in genres across TV shows and movies. They also power Tata Sky Classic Cinema, a popular service that celebrates the richness of vintage Bollywood.”

    “Tata Sky has always recognised the appeal of unique and varied content and we believe that Classic TV will bring a whole new facet of entertainment to our viewers. We believe Neena Gupta is the perfect ambassador for this genre and the service,” she further said.

    The service, powered by Shemaroo Entertainment, includes notable shows like “Hum Paanch,” “Saans,” “Fauji,” “Banegi Apni Baat,” “Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai,” “Movers & Shakers,” “Karamchand,” “Hasratein,” “Hip Hip Hurray,” “Zamana Badal Gaya,” “Raja Aur Rancho,” “Dard,” “Akbar The Great,” “Yug,” “Upanyas,” and “Mahanagar” among others.

    There is an exclusive chat show hosted by Vishal Malhotra titled “Roobaroo with Star,” which will feature veteran actors like Seema Pahwa, Sudha Chandran, Ashok Saraf, Vandana Pathak, Suchitra Pillai and others reminiscing about their time and sharing unheard anecdotes with the audiences.

Living up to that promise, the company has announced the appointment of angel investor Kae Capital MD Sasha Gulu Mirchandani (48), and former Price WaterhouseCoopers senior executive Vivek Mehra (65) – who is also actress Neena Gupta’s husband – on its board as independent directors.

    Mirchandani has experience at the intersection of finance, technology and digital commerce in India, having seed/venture funded and mentored some of the largest unicorns in India. He has deep insights about how technology is shaping new business models and how companies can leverage emerging technologies to get competitive advantage in products and markets. He sits on the boards of Hathway Cable and Datacom, Nazara Technologies, Healthkart, Kae Capital Management Private Ltd, Algorhythm Tech Private Ltd, among others. Previously, he served on the boards of Myntra, 1Mg, and Ador Welding, to name a few.

    Mehra, on the other hand, worked at PWC for almost two decades. During his tenure there, he founded and headed the regulatory and M&A tax practices and was elected to the governance oversight board of PWC for two terms.     MUMBAI: Flipkart Video is all set to launch another original Zindagi inShort on 19 February. Zindagi inShort comprises seven short slice-of-life films. The cerebration of the anthology is to showcase bittersweet episodes of life in miniature configurations. 'Chajju Ke Dahi Bhalle', 'Nano So Phobia', 'Sunny Side Upar', 'Swaaha', 'Pinni', 'Sleeping Partner' and 'Thappad' are the seven short films that constitute the anthology. 

    Basking in the success of the digital show 'Backbenchers', India's homegrown e-commerce marketplace is gearing up to stream its collaboration with Sikhya Entertainment on Flipkart Video, which is available on the Flipkart app itself. 

    The anthology is produced by Guneet Monga's Sikhya Entertainment. Some of the most impactful and acclaimed productions to Monga's credit are Gangs Of Wasseypur – Part 1 and Part 2, The Lunchbox, Masaan, Tigers, Dasvidaniya and Haraamkhor.     Zoom will telecast a curtain-raiser including clips from Behind The Scenes and Red Carpet, on 7 May at 9 pm and the final event will be aired on 14 May at 9 pm.
