    TV18 marketing head Neel Chowdhury quits; to join Obopay as VP, CMO

    MUMBAI: Neel Chowdhury, CNBC TV18 and CNBC Awaaz VP marketing, has ended his two-year stint with the company to join US-based mobile payment service company Obopay as vice-president and chief marketing officer.

    Confirming the development to Indiantelevision.com, Chowdhury said, “Yes I have joined the new start-up Obopay today as VP and CMO.”

    Based out of Mumbai, Chowdhury will spearhead the company’s expansion plans in India.

    Before joining TV18 in March 2008, Chowdhury was CMO at Times Global Broadcasting (TGBCL). Prior to TGBCL, he was Bharti Mumbai head -marketing. He has also worked with Tata Teleservices and Pepsico International as COO – West Bengal and channel development manager respectively.

    Obopay has several strategic investing partners like Qualcomm, Citi, Redpoint Ventures, Richmond Management, and Essar.

    Net Worth will be hosted by Network18 personal finance editor Vivek Law and will air on Saturdays at 10:30 am.

    MUMBAI: CNBC-TV18 is launching the second season of Business with Pleasure on 14 September. Airing on Sunday at 9 am, the show will feature leaders of corporate India at their relaxed best.

    Business with Pleasure will feature prominent business leaders from different industries as they take time out to pursue what their schedule would rarely permit such as a long forgotten ambition, a sneaking desire, and a chance to do something purely for self actualisation or self gratification.

    Hosted by Tanvir Gill, the new season will showcase business leaders such as Sanjeev Aga of Idea Cellular, Prasoon Joshi of McCann Ericsson, Rashesh Shah of Edelweiss Capital and Kushagra Bajaj of Bajaj Hindustan, among others.

    MUMBAI: CNBC-TV18 is launching a current affairs debate show War of Words on 23 August. Airing every Saturday at 8 pm, the show is hosted by Karan Thapar. War of Words will see politicians discuss issues of national importance.

    The show is divided in three segments. The first segment will contain the views and counter-views of the guests on the topic of the day. This will be followed by audience interaction and finally the guests will discuss the solution to the issue.

    MUMBAI: In an attempt to enhance its offering on weekends, CNBC TV18 has launched new shows on variety of topics ranging from business, entertainment, luxury and current affairs.

    In the current affairs section, India Business Week will provide viewers with an insight on what to expect in the coming week, be it business, politics, sports or entertainment and recap of the best of the previous week.

    In the corporate focus section, Wealth Creators will give viewers an insight into the world of India’s new generation of corporate czars. The show will feature the success stories of men and women who have created “enormous shareholder value” and have grown their businesses to a world class level. Wealth Creators will be hosted by Mitali Mukerjee.

    Another show, Indianomics hosted by Latha Venkatesh, will aim at giving viewers an insight on the Indian economy, gathering from cues on what is happening in the global economy and the macro-economic story of India.

    Menaka Doshi will present Riders in the Storm, a series that will feature India’s leading companies and pull the spotlight on one particular CEO every week.

    MUMBAI:The business news channel CNBC TV18 is set to offer a special series on Olympic game, Olympic Effort. Anchored by features editor Anuradha SenGupta, the four-part series will hit the screens on 2 August.

    The series will air every Saturday at 7 pm and Sunday at 2:30 pm.

    Olympic Effort will provide an insight into the Olympic brand and how companies exploit the opportunity of partnering with the event to enhance brand recognition.

    CNBC-TV18 to probe into consumers mind with Lessons in Excellence

    MUMBAI: CNBC-TV18 will air the four-part series Lessons in Excellence that shares insights from management experts and marketers on the mantras of success in the Indian consumer market.

    The series will focus on the transformation of the Indian buyer. It is based on the seminal work by market strategist Rama Bijapurkar, titled ‘We are like that only – Understanding the Logic of Consumer India.’

    Lessons in Excellence will feature Bijapurkar and CNBC-TV18’s anchor Anuradha Sengupta with experts like Future Group CEO Kishore Biyani, ICICI Prudential MD Shikha Sharma, Bharti Airtel director (marketing and communication) Gopal Vithal and Employment Generation and National Innovation Foundation director Meera Shenoy.
