    iTV Network ups Vikas Khanna as national sales head of India News

    MUMBAI: iTV Network has elevated Vikas Khanna to the post of national sales head of India News.

    Khanna was initially the senior vice president at India News. He will be responsible for driving the all India ad sales revenue of India News national and will continue to report to India News CEO Varun Kohli.

    Commenting on the elevation, iTV Network MD Kartikeya Sharma said, “We are delighted to elevate Vikas as the national sales head of India News. This elevation is in line with our commitment to growth. His skills and wide experience will surely help India News reach the next level of growth.”

    Kohli added, “Vikas has played an important role in India News sales and with his elevation as national sales head, India News, he will take on a wider role. His strong track record of delivering growth and his understanding of the industry will help us move forward on our path of continued success.”

    Khanna previously worked with Network18 where he was responsible for the advertising sales of IBN 7 North region. He served India Today Group for six years and then moved to Times of India and thereafter to NDTV Media wherein he handled brands such as NDTV India, NDTV 24×7 and NDTV Profit.

    MUMBAI: CricHQ, a cricket technology company is on an expansion spree. The company, which is looking at expanding its executive team in India has appointed Karthik Ramanujam as director of digital sales and marketing for the India market.

     

    Ramanujam brings with him over 16 years of experience in ad sales, content and digital marketing, with earlier stints at NDTV Media, Sony Entertainment Television, Ten Sports, Vdopia and Qyuki Digital Media. In his current role, he will support global sales and user acquisition for CricHQ’s online and mobile platforms.

     

    CricHQ CEO Simon Baker said, “We are very bullish about the Indian market opportunity and are building a strong team here to take full advantage of this opportunity. Karthik’s appointment is a significant boost for CricHQ’s India operations and it also sets the stage for more senior level hires in the near future.”

     

    The company plans to hire 15 professionals for its corporate office in Bangalore in the next few months, which are in addition to over 70 professionals currently employed in India. CricHQ currently has presence in Chennai and Kochi. The Chennai office has 50 employees engaged in product development and data capture and analysis; whereas the Kochi office focuses on CricHQ’s global operations. The company aims to expand its India head count to over 400 employees in the next three years.

    Salil Kulkarni joins Zoom as regional head, West Zone, sales

    MUMBAI: Salil Kulkarni has been roped in as the regional head, West Zone, sales by Zoom Entertainment Network.

    Kulkarni will look after all revenue aspects for the region including FCT and special projects for the Bollywood entertainment channel. He will report into Zoom VP-sales Hersh Bhandari.

    “I am delighted to be part of the Zoom family. The channel epitomises Bollywood in its truest sense and it will be a pleasure to be part of the success story of Zoom,” Kulkarni said.

    Prior to Zoom, he was with Sri Adhikari Brothers‘ music channel Masti, handling sales for Mumbai, Pune and Ahmedabad regions. He has also worked on the group‘s Hindi regional channels – Dabangg and Dhamaal.

    Earlier, he has worked with Business Standard, Business World and NDTV Media.

    MUMBAI: ET Now, the 24-hour English business news channel, has appointed Shyam Chhabria as head of branded content.

    Based out of Mumbai, he will focus on creating stronger relationship with prospective clients by designing properties that address client needs. He will report to Times Television Network chief sales officer Hemant Arora. 
       
    Arora said, “I am delighted to welcome Chhabria to his new role as head of branded content. With his experience in creating business units and content supported by advertisers he will be able to add tremendous value to the branded solutions offered by ET Now.”
    Chhabria comes with over 14 years of experience in sales and marketing and has spent nearly seven years in the media & entertainment sector. He has worked with NDTV Media, Balaji Telefilms and Seventy EMG.

  • Rajesh Jathar joins News 24 as regional ad sales head

    MUMBAI: B.A.G Films and Media Limited has announced the appointment of Rajesh Jathar as regional head (corporate advertising sales, West and South) of its broadcasting arm News 24.

    On the new appointment, B.A.G. MD Anurradha Prasad said, “We are confident that Jathar vast and varied experience in the field of media and entertainment would add to the growth of the company.”

    Jathar has more than 14 years of experience in both print and television advertising sales. Prior to B.A.G., he was working with NDTV Media. He has also worked with Zee, the TV Today group and Hindustan Times, at various positions.

  • Star takes up ad sales of Hindi news channel Live India

    MUMBAI: In its first ever advertising deal outside the network, Star India has inked a deal with Broadcast Initiatives Limited for its Hindi news channel Live India.

    Star will handle the ad sales of Live India, nationally and globally, with immediate effect. Live India plans to venture into international markets including the US, UK and Dubai.

    The announcement comes close on the heels of the re-positioning of Live India from a ‘views’ to a news channel with live content. The channel was previously known as Janmat.

    Broadcast Initiatives Limited vice chairman and managing director Markand Adhikari said that the company is soon looking to foray into International markets including US, UK and Dubai. Apart from India, Star’s ad sales teams across the globe will be fully functional in this regard.

    With a distribution platform already in place, the Star network is looking to adopt an integrated broadcast services approach through its first ad sales deal outside the network. 

    Star India Pvt. Ltd president – advertising sales and distribution Paritosh Joshi said, “This is the first time Star India has offered its advertising sales capabilities to a channel outside the Star Network. This is a major milestone for this division. It is our intent to quickly evolve into the region’s top integrated broadcast services organization and this deal underscores the seriousness of this intent.”

    Adhikari added, “This is a critical partnership for us and we consider it a significant asset to securing a strong advertising revenue base for our Live India.”

    For the Marathi channel Mi Marathi, Adhikari has assigned NDTV Media to handle the ad sales functions.

    NDTV Media appointed airtime sales rep for Mi Marathi

    MUMBAI: NDTV Media has been appointed as the exclusive airtime sales representative for the soon-to-be-launched Marathi channel, “Mi Marathi” from the Adhikari stable. It will be responsible for all revenue generating efforts for the channel.

    “This venture is the first step towards our entry into the regional space. With more and more niche and special interest channels taking market share, regional markets will witness an exponential growth. We believe that with the majority of the population speaking Marathi, the size of the Marathi regional market advertising pie will cross the Rs 120-crore mark by the year end. We are delighted and proud to be associated with Mi Marathi channel”, said NDTV Media CEO Raj Nayak.

    Markand Adhikari in an earlier interview to Indiantelevision.com had revealed that the channel which has been in the docks for a while would be launched in February.

    The baseline of MI MARATHI is “Aaplya Manasachi Aapli Vahini”, a channel by the Son of the Soil. Sri Adhikari Brothers have in the last 20 years, produced more than 2000 hours of Marathi programming for DD Sahyadri and Doordarshan’s national network.

    MUMBAI: Viacom has appointed NTDV Media as its exclusive sales and marketing partner for Nick, the kids’ channel from MTV Networks stable.

    This is the second such deal that NDTV Media has signed in recent times, following an agreement with MSN India.
