    NDMC issues warnings to illegal hoardings at Connaught Place, Khan Market

    NEW DELHI: Taking stern measures against illegal, oversized signages and hoardings installed without permission, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) issued a legal notice to shop owners of Connaught Place and Khan Market. 

    As per NDMC, the warning has been issued to the owners in its jurisdiction for the violation of Delhi Outdoor Advertising Policy, 2017. 

    The notice reads, “All advertisements in the NDMC area are governed by the provisions of Delhi Outdoor Advertisement Policy (DOAP), 2017. In case of violation, any unauthorised advertisement will attract penalty for each day, the amount of which will be decided by the NDMC chairman. Accordingly, the competent authority has approved that penalties may be levied on devices (LDC, LEDs), flex signage installed outside shops without permission or beyond sanctioned size".

    According to sources, NDMC might impose an extra penalty, other than the fixed charges to those served notices.

    NDMC is first civic body to provide HD cable TV service

    MUMBAI: New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) has become the first civic body to provide high-definition cable television services to residents of Lutyens' Delhi from mid-February. The municipal body has entered into a partnership with Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd and telecom company Oneott Intertainment to provide the service.

    According to media reports, NDMC will provide HD satellite TV service through the underground optic fibre network. In select NDMC areas, MTNL is providing high-speed internet and voice facility through the FTTH technology. Apart from over-the-top services like Netflix, YouTube, television channels can now be accessed also. However, users have to take the MTNL-NDMC internet connection to enjoy all the services together on any screen.

    "We can't offer rates below those decided by the Telecom Authority of India (TRAI) for implementation from 1 February, but we assure users they will be marginally over that," MTNL CMD Pravin Kumar Purwar said but he assured the cost would be "reasonable”.

    The headend-in-the-sky (HITS) technology is also being employed along with FTTH to enable a smooth service which would not be hampered by sun or rain outage. Along with signing a MoU with MTNL, the civic body signed an agreement with leading HITS service provider Nxt Digital too.

    Earlier in 2017, NDMC entered into a partnership with MTNL to offer internet connectivity through Wi-Fi service in public places and FTTH services. NDMC chairman Naresh Kumar said that success of the earlier project encouraged them to utilise the same facility for providing cable TV services.

    “By 15 February, we will start publicising the service and holding camps to invite applications from subscribers for commercial connections,” he added. The services will be initially offered in Connaught Place and its neighbourhood on a pilot basis.

    The project named as CP LYF, will be touching various facilities on 50 premier points. CP LYF will enable the smartphones’ of users to connect through Ethernet with usage of up to 1 GB data and 400 smartphone charging points at zero cost. The Digital panels along the premier points have the ability to broadcast infotainment along with adverts which are run on 100% secured network. In-house software developed by Parxys Mobility “WISDOM” is been synced to the network along with surveillance cameras to monitor this project.

    Signpost India’s team has created this multifaceted robust technology to engage out of home media through digital and smartphone engagement. The visitors will also benefit free online entertainment streaming application in the form of “Chillx”.

    Present at the launch of the project were Shri Rajnath Singh, Hon’able Union Minister; Shri Manoj Sinha, Hon’able Minister of State for Communications and Railways; Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Hon’able Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs; Shri Anil Baijal, Hon’able Lt.     NEW DELHI: Leading multi-media solutions provider,Prabhatam Advertising which has so far held the sole outdoor rights for backlit platform display panels at some placeshas now been given the task of installing and maintaining railway display networks at five important railway stations.

    The firm, which has among its clients Delhi Metro stations and display signages at Bhopal Airport, NDMC utilites among others, has been given the contract for Bahadurgarh, Faridabad, Agra Fort, Rewari and Gorakhpur stations.

    These stations have been awarded to Prabhatam Advertising as part of the on-going railway display network project of Railtel wherein these stations will be executed as POC.

    The government estimates the project to generate revenue of Rs 11,719 crore.The investment on this PPT project, involving 2175 railway stations, is estimated at Rs 4000 crore.

    Prabhatam OOH, a specialist in outdoor media projects, has also installed LED screens at New Delhi and Anand Vihar railway stations. These LED screens show real time railway information related to arrival and departure of trains and train time-table along with TVCs of Prabhatam Advertising’s clients.

    “It is a giant leap forward for Prabhatam Advertising. Installing and maintaining the railway display network at important railway stations like Bahadurgarh, Faridabad, Agra Fort, Rewari and Gorakhpur is a greatopportunity. We are happy to be part of thismega project. With our experience in this field, we will be able to do a great job,” said Group Director Mayank Gupta.

    The LED display screens, he said, were being integrated with aspecial software by Prabhatam Advertising that has been configured by Railtel Corporation.

    Railtel, a premier PSUs under the Railways Ministry, has given an EOI (expression of interest) for undertaking the coveted job of installing, operating and maintaining railway digital network at 2000+ stations across India, displaying PNR status, traintime-table and other important railway information on LED screens.

    NEW DELHI: Even as the Rio Olympics have begun with the largest-ever Indian contingent, several activities have taken place in India to mark the games.

    A Run for Rio was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in which 20000 school going children took part.

    The ‘Wall of Best Wishes’ has been put up at India Gate lawns by the Youth Affairs and Sports Ministry where common people can post their Best Wishes to the Rio participants Indian athletes. Twitter handle #Khelo India @ India Sports can be used to change the background of icon of twitter account with the spirit of Rio.

    An Olympic exhibition has opened to continue till 21 August 2016 at different locations of NDMC and MCD areas. In these locations, giant size screens have been put so that people in large group can watch Olympics games as they happen.

    The official song for India for the Rio Olympics ‘Born a Champion’ voiced and written by Fakira (Ahran Choudhary) has been launched at the Olympic Carnival by Sports Minister Vijay Goel here.

    Based on the story of an athlete, the RAP track captures the undying spirit of a sports man, the essence of the fight an athlete goes through in his life to prove his talent to others, but more importantly to himself.

    A tribute by Bollywood to the Indian athletes, the track is composed by Aditya Dev – who composed the music for Bajirao Mastani – and cinematography by Vishal Seth, who is a well known fashion photographer and cinematographer. Akshay Kumar lent his support for the making of the song and video and is a non-commercial initiative.

    The song climaxes with #wewantgold, all Indian rooting for, hoping for, dreaming for, and waiting for the gold medals that Indian sportsmen would be winning at the games for the country.

    Communications Minister Manoj Sinha has unveiled the Commemorative Postage Stamps on Rio Olympic Games and said the unique initiative will motivate the Rio-bound Indian athletes.

    Issuing stamps on games of wrestling, badminton, shooting and boxing, the Minister said the Department of Posts had always issued special stamps on important occasions to rekindle the spirit of patriotism and for advancement of National Interest.

    Goel said in a statement that this is the first time in the history of Olympics that on the request of the Government of and Indian Olympic Association that the International Olympic Committee has agreed to provide Indian cuisine in the Olympics Village Games Kitchen. The will help players feel at home and is expected to bring out better performance.

    A sum of Rs one crore has been transferred to Indian Embassy in Brazil for buying any additional items for the Indian contingent.

    Goel said his officers were available at Rio as well as in Delhi to attend to the problems of athletes. The Indian Embassy in Brazil is providing all necessary support.

    This has been the first Olympics in which the Government has made efforts to connect the Olympics with the common man and youth so that there is an environment and fervor of Olympic Games in the country which will push the sports among youth which is good for the country in the long run, he said.

    Unprecedented efforts have been undertaken in preparations of Rio Olympics by the Ministry by launching special schemes, such as Target Olympic Podium through which customized training with 34 Foreign Coaches and foreign exposure was provided to all athletes qualifying for Rio. In addition, daily allowance of the athletes has been doubled to 100$, extra physio-therapists masseurs have been sent to Rio.

    Mental Trainers have been provided to athletes for getting a winning attitude. An amount of Rs.160 crore has been spent on preparations of the athletes for the Rio Olympics making an average of more than Rs. one crore on each athlete who has qualified.

    Athletes had been sent to Rio well in advance of around average 15 days so that they can acclimatize and feel comfortable unlike earlier Olympics where they were going just 2 to 4 days before the beginning of the events, the Minister said.

    Meanwhile, Indian-origin South African filmmaker Anant Singh has been newly elected to the International Olympic Committee.

    Singh was elected at the 129th Session ahead of the Olympic Games Rio 2016 where the election of eight new IOC Members was announced.

    Singh had been hand-picked by Nelson Mandela to make a film on his life, ‘Mandela’.

    Speaking from Rio de Janeiro, Singh said, “It is a huge honour for me to be elected at the 129th IOC Session, as an individual member, to serve on the IOC. I look forward to making a meaningful contribution to furthering the spirit of Olympism and the ideals of the Olympic Movement, especially on the African continent. I am humbled to be in the company of my friend and mentor, Sam Ramsamy who was re-elected to the IOC at the same session.”

    Other newly elected members are Nita Ambani (India); Sari Essayah (Finland); Ivo Ferriani (Italy); Luis Moreno (Colombia); Auvita Rapilla (Papua New Guinea); and Tricia Smith (Canada) and Karl Stoss (Austria).
