Plates with purpose: ITC Aashirvaad turns Navratri feasts into care acts

MUMBAI: Food for thought, with a side of care. This Navratri, ITC Aashirvaad Soul Creations has launched ‘Nav creations,’ a festive initiative that transforms everyday vrat meals into acts of kindness.

At a time when families gather over wholesome vrat thalis and young kanyas are celebrated as symbols of purity, many girls remain outside the festive circle. ‘Nav creations’ steps in to bridge that gap, ensuring each order adds a touch of warmth to lives that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Here’s how it works, every order from the ‘Nav creations’ menu on Swiggy or Zomato comes with a festive card and a QR code. By uploading proof of purchase, customers earn 100 coins. Once 500 coins are collected, Aashirvaad Soul Creations serves a wholesome Navratri meal to a young kanya. To spread the joy further, contributors also receive a personalised ‘Nav creations’ digital frame to share online.

The vrat-special menu itself stays true to tradition, prepared without onion or garlic and using only sendha namak. From kuttu paneer pakodas with kali mirch dip, velvety vrat paneer curry, and fluffy sabudana khichdi thalis to soft sabudana parathas and rajgira pooris paired with comforting aloo subzi, each dish brings the festive kitchen to the table.

Available across Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Pune until 2 October, the menu is more than convenient festive dining. With ‘Nav creations,’ every plate becomes a prayer, and every order an offering of care.

  • Festive wheels turn faster as car platform hits record traffic

Festive wheels turn faster as car platform hits record traffic

MUMBAI: CarTrade Tech’s consumer platforms struck gold yesterday, recording their highest-ever single-day traffic as Indians hunt for festival bargains on wheels. The company told the Bombay stock exchange that CarWale and BikeWale saw visitor numbers rocket by 74 per cent compared with the first day of Navratri last year, and 60 per cent above August’s daily average.

The surge points to renewed vigour in India’s car market, helped along by recent GST rate cuts that have made vehicles more affordable. For a sector that has endured sluggish demand, the spike offers a tantalising glimpse of better times ahead.

“Yesterday was a landmark day for our platforms,” said CarTrade consumer group chief executive Banwari Lal Sharma. “The festive excitement, amplified by GST-led affordability, has fuelled unprecedented consumer activity.”

Whether this traffic translates into actual sales—and signals a broader revival in consumer sentiment during the festival season—remains to be seen. But for India’s media and entertainment companies, which depend heavily on advertising from car manufacturers, the numbers will make for cheerful reading.

  • After Khalasi, Coke Studio Bharat drops Meetha Khaara this festive season

After Khalasi, Coke Studio Bharat drops Meetha Khaara this festive season

MUMBAI: After the runaway success of Khalasi, Coke Studio Bharat is back with another soulful folk offering, Meetha Khaara. Released as part of Season 3, the track arrives in time for the Navratri festivities and celebrates the enduring spirit of Gujarat’s Agariya community.

Curated, composed and produced by Siddharth Amit Bhavsar, Meetha Khaara brings together a powerhouse of talent: the folk brilliance of Aditya Gadhvi, the tenderness of Madhubanti Bagchi, and the fresh notes of Thanu Khan.

Rooted in a 600-year-old legacy, the song draws from the Agariya community’s life around salt farming. In Gujarati, “meethu” means salt, a substance born from hardship yet vital and sweet in its inheritance. The track captures this paradox, portraying resilience, pride and identity through music that blends earthy folk rhythms with contemporary sounds.

Coca-Cola INSWA, imx lead, Shantanu Gangane said, “Festivals are occasions when music serves as a cultural connector. With Meetha Khaara, our intent is to create a bridge between tradition and the youth’s passion for music. Coke Studio Bharat unites legendary voices with fresh talent to create authentic stories that connect music, culture and people across India.”

The song’s foundation lies in Bhargav Purohit’s evocative lyrics, which were then transformed into a layered musical narrative by Bhavsar. Gadhvi’s powerful vocals anchor the track, Bagchi adds emotional depth, and Khan ties it all together with his distinct sound.

For Aditya Gadhvi, the song continues the journey begun with Khalasi. “With Meetha Khaara, we’re carrying forward Gujarat’s folk stories in a fresh way. Making this song was pure joy, as it carries the pride of our people,” he added.

Echoing him, lyricist Bhargav Purohit said, “Writing this song was an honour. I wanted the words to reflect resilience and tradition with simplicity and honesty.”

Singer Madhubanti Bagchi shared, “It allowed me to merge technique with emotion, tradition with individuality. The result felt deeply authentic.”

And for emerging artist Thanu Khan, the experience was nothing short of a dream. “Being part of Coke Studio Bharat and contributing to *Meetha Khaara* will always be an honour,” he shared.
