    MUMBAI: Goafest 2016’s first ABBY night kick started with healthy dose of laughter well packed in snarky and quick witted jokes delivered by the ever charming Vir Das. Still holding their stomachs, the entire advertising fraternity of India prepared themselves to see who bagged the metals in the Media and Publisher categories.

    Continuing their winning streak two years in a row, Mindshare India were the clear leader in the media category with 17 metals to their name, out of which two were gold, six silver and nine silver. The agency bagged gold in Best Use of Newspaper and Magazine category for their Lakme Lip pouts in Grazia — Play time for your pout campaign for Lakme; and in Best use of Integrated campaign category for  Before Iftar time; It’s Lifebouy Time for Lifebouy.

    The second agency leading Media ABBY was Maxus, with 7 metals to their name. Maxus got their gold for their ‘Get A Job’ campaign for LinkedIn in the Youth Marketing category.Apart from this they bagged two silver and four bronze trophies.

    Extending his congratulations to the winners, The Advertiisng Club president Raj Nayak said, “It is such a pleasure to see such tremendous work from brilliant minds winning much deserved Abbys for their efforts. What we’ve seen and are likely to observe in the next two days are some of the most creative works produced by advertising, media and marketing professionals in the country. It makes me immensely proud to be witnessing the triumph of talent across the board. With Goafest 2016, our aim is to celebrate creativity, originality and innovation and I believe we have begun on the right note today. I’m very happy that the entire industry has come together to celebrate the industry’s biggest event.”

    Apart from them, Pratap Bose’s The Social Street emerged as a powerful contender in the media category winning two golds and two silver trophies on their first year of entering the ABBY.

    A total of 11 golds were given away in the Media ABBY, followed by 36 silver and 30 bronze trophies. In the Publisher category,  Dainik Jagran rose as the clear lead bagging all the three golds given out in the category.

    2016 has proven to be a good year for the ABBY. With total entries clocking at 4500, there has been a clear 25 per cent increase in entries from the previous year. This trend isn’t limited to entries. This year 150 jury members participated in the judging, with 86 for media ABBY alone. In total, 76 media agencies participated this year as compared to 53 last year.

    “Along with giving young enthusiastic talent a platform for their work, it is also our outlook, as the organizing committee of Goafest to curate best in class seminars and conclaves which will provide opportunities for professionals from the industry to learn and grow together. It is our constant endeavor to recognize and felicitate the best of the best creative minds for the unparalleled work that they have been doing.     MUMBAI The Advertising Club and Advertising Agencies Association of India have announced Goafest 2016 with Publicis South Asia, CEO Nakul Chopra as the chairman of Goafest Organizing Committee.

    Commenting on his appointment, Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAA’s of I) president Ambi M G Parameshwaran said “Nakul has been in this industry for over 30 years now. He has been leading Publicis in India through this last decade. I am very excited to see what plans he has in store for us this year.”

    The Advertising Club  president Raj Nayak too welcomed the appointment saying, “This is wonderful news. Nakul has been instrumental in driving Goafest to success in the recent past. With his proven track record in managing high performing agencies, he is truly the best man for the job! I look forward to work with him to make Goafest 2016 a roaring success.”

    To have been given the opportunity to Chair the Goafest Organizing Committee is an honor. There’s still a lot of work to do in strengthening Goafest and together, I hope we can build upon the good work of the past years,” added Chopra on his new role.

  • Ambi MG Parameswaran re-elected as AAAI president

    Ambi MG Parameswaran re-elected as AAAI president

    MUMBAI: Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI) has re-elected FCB Ulka Advertising executive director Ambi MG Parameswaran as president for the year 2015 – 2016.

     

    Additionally, Publicis Communications CEO-South Asia Nakul Chopra was also re-elected as vice president of the association.

     

    Parameswaran and Chopra were re-elected at AAAI’s annual general body meeting held on 31 July, 2015.

     

    The other members of the executive committee are as follows: Ashish Bhasin, CVL Srinivas, Ganesh Baliga, Jaideep Gandhi, Kunal Lalani, Nagesh Alai, Pranav Premnarayen, R Sridhar, Rana Barua, Sam Balsara, Srinivasan K Swamy, Tarun Rai and Vivek Srivastava.

     

    AAAI immediate past president Arvind Sharma will be the ex-officio member of the new AAAI executive committee.

    Bobby Pawar, Partha Sinha elevated to Publicis South Asia MD

    MUMBAI: Publicis Worldwide South Asia has promoted Bobby Pawar and Partha Sinha to managing directors.

     

    This move comes as the India agency consolidates following a period of sustained growth that has seen it double its size over the past two years.

     

    In their new roles, Pawar and Sinha will continue to report to Publicis Worldwide South Asia CEO Nakul Chopra as they take on larger responsibilities to partner him in managing all business units in the region. A key focus will be to elevate the agency’s effectiveness in communication that helps lead the change for clients.

     

    As managing director and chief strategy officer, Sinha will lead all strategic development. He will take additional responsibility for the P&L of the consulting, design and digital services in South Asia. 

     

    Pawar, on the other hand, will be managing director and chief creative officer. He will lead creative development and ensure the increasing infusion of digital channels for all Publicis Worldwide entities in the region. 

     

    Chopra said that the promotions were clear recognition of the positive impact and leadership both executives had demonstrated in leading their agency teams and client relationships.

     

    Chopra said, “Both Bobby and Partha have played pivotal roles in delivering the expectations of our clients and in vastly improving our product. They have worked very closely with me and taken the lead in helping Publicis grow at a very rapid rate. These promotions not only recognise their past achievements but also focus on the future where we have high expectations for the continual transformation of our business.”

     

    In a joint statement, Sinha and Pawar added, “Publicis is on a fast growth track and is increasingly becoming a significant power in partnering clients in the new age environment. Our objective is to become the most significant partner available in this market for brands to navigate and lead the change in society, culture and the marketplace. We are on our way there.”

    Goa Fest: JWT India leads metal tally, Linen Lintas wins solitary Grand Prix

    GOA: As the third and final day of Abby Awards Goa Fest came to an end, metals galore were distributed amongst creative souls across various categories.

     

    “With a beach 50 meters away and beers available 24 hours, having more than 70 per cent filled rooms in all the sessions signifies that Goa Fest 2015 was a success,” says AAAI president M.G. Parameswaran

     

    Goa Fest 2015 saw a versatile group of speakers, charming and ecstatic ambience, and allusive advertisements played one after another. The creative minds enjoyed their time collecting one metals after another for different categories. The third day saw 29 Golds, 51 Silvers and 94 Bronze bestowed amongst the creative lot.

     

    Though Goa Fest organizational committee does not publish any agency ratings, if the metal tally is analysed JWT India with 35 metals (nine golds, eight silvers and 18 bronze) bags the pole position. The solitary Grand Prix was won by Linen Lintas for Dabur Vatika Premium Naturals Shampoo’s Brave and Beautiful campaign. 

     

    The number of Grand Prix though got down from three in 2014 to one in 2015. The total number of metals went up to 344 (69 Golds, 102 Silver and 172 Bronze) compared to last year’s 336. The Advertising Club and chairman of the Awards Governing Council (AGC) Pratap Bose said, “You have to do something unique and extraordinary in order to win a Grand Prix and the jury found only one such entry and hence we have only one Grand Prix in 2015.” 

     

    The total number of golds went up to 69 compared to 50 and 44 in 2014 and 2013 respectively.     

     

    The number of agencies winning Abby metals has also gone up, which is an encouraging development for the creative fraternity. A total of 106 agencies won metals in 2015 compared to 85 and 73 in 2014 and 2013 respectively. The number of entries were also an encouragement for the organizing committee as it went up from 2012 to 2823. However it must be noted that in 2013, 4376 entries were registered for the same festival.

     

    The highest number of golds were distributed in the broadcast category as 14 metals were distributed in the category. With 40 metals OOH grabbed the pole position when it came to the total number of metals amongst all categories.

    Goafest 2015 to be held from 9-11 April

    MUMBAI: The organising committee of Goafest 2015 has announced the dates of the event.

     

    Goafest 2015 will be held from 9-11 April at Grand Hyatt and the event will be open for all the delegates on all the three days. The ABBYs will also be held on all the three days.

     

    The committee has announced that Publicis south Asia CEO and the Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI) vice president Nakul Chopra will be the chairman of Goafest 2015 and The Advertising Club president Pratap Bose will be the chairman of the Awards Governing Council.

     

    Goafest 2015 will be in its 10th edition and this is the eighth year that AAAI and The Advertising Club will come together to deliver ABBYs, India’s definitive awards that celebrate creativity.

    MUMBAI: In continuation of recent senior management changes and recruitments Publicis announced the promotion of Paritosh Srivastava to chief operating officer (COO) for Publicis Ambience. He will continue to report to south Asia CEO Nakul Chopra and will join the management board for Publicis Worldwide in India.

     

    Chopra commented, “This is a well-deserved promotion. For over three years now Paritosh has led Publicis Ambience admirably. The improvement in talent and quality has been remarkable – the growth has been outstanding. With further empowerment in his new role – I have no doubt he will take Publicis Ambience to new heights.”
