    MUMBAI: Tata Sons Limited chairman, N. Chandrasekaran, has been appointed to the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) managing director’s advisory council on Entrepreneurship and Growth. The council, chaired by IMF managing director Kristalina Georgieva, brings together global experts from business, finance, academia, and policymaking to shape policies that drive innovation and productivity.

    In addition to his role at Tata Sons, Chandrasekaran is also a board member of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). His inclusion in the council reflects his extensive experience in business strategy and economic affairs.

    Meeting quarterly, the council will contribute to the IMF’s policy research, focusing on solutions to address declining global productivity growth. With the world economy facing its slowest medium-term expansion in decades, the council’s expertise will help shape strategies that promote sustainable and inclusive growth across IMF member nations.

    Mumbai: 86-year-old stalwart industrialist and Tata Sons’ chairman emeritus Ratan Tata has passed away on Wednesday in a Mumbai hospital. He had been in critical condition, receiving intensive care for several days. While undergoing routine medical investigations earlier in the week due to age-related concerns, reports of his hospital admission sparked widespread concern.

    Tata himself took to social media on Monday, reassuring the public that there was “no cause for concern,” and that his evaluations were routine. He urged the media to avoid spreading misinformation, stating, “I remain in good spirits.” However, his condition worsened in the following days.

    In an official statement, Tata Sons’ chairman N Chandrasekaran expressed the profound sense of loss felt by the Tata Group. “We bid farewell to Mr. Ratan Naval Tata, a truly uncommon leader whose immeasurable contributions have shaped not only the Tata Group but also the very fabric of our nation,” he stated.

    Chandrasekaran reflected on Tata’s significant role in the organisation, emphasizing that he was more than just a chairperson. “To me, he was a mentor, guide, and friend. He inspired by example. With an unwavering commitment to excellence, integrity, and innovation, the Tata Group under his stewardship expanded its global footprint while always remaining true to its moral compass,” he said.

    Air India rejig: N Chandrasekaran brings in key Tata Group personnel

    Mumbai: Tata Sons executive chairman and Air India chairman N Chandrasekaran on Saturday affected a major reshuffle in the top management of the recently-acquired airline in what is Air India’s first major senior management reshuffle since it was taken over by the conglomerate in January this year. Tata Sons senior vice president Nipun Aggarwal replaces Air India veteran Meenakshi Malik as chief commercial officer, while former Tata Steel VP- human resources Suresh Dutt Tripathi succeeds AI’s Amrita Sharan as chief human resources officer (CHRO).

    Notably, the Tata Group is yet to appoint a chief executive officer of the airline.

    The order was issued by Chandrasekaran, who is also the chairman of Tata Sons and comes on the back of the announcement of Tata Sons executive chairman N Chandrasekaran formally taking charge as chairman of Tata Digital earlier this week. He was reappointed as the chairman of Tata Sons for another five years in February this year.

    Malik and Sharan were on Friday appointed as advisors to the CEO of Air India, according to a company communication to PTI. As the Tata Group is yet to appoint the CEO of Air India, the duo will currently be advisors to Chandrasekaran, it mentioned.

    Satya Ramaswamy, who has worked at Tata Consultancy Services before, was on Friday appointed as chief digital and technology officer at Air India, the order stated.

    Rajesh Dogra was appointed as the head of customer experience and ground handling at Air India, it mentioned.

    Air India veteran RS Sandhu will continue to hold the charge of chief of operations at Air India, it noted.

    Another Air India veteran Vinod Hejmadi will continue to hold the charge as chief financial officer, it mentioned.

    “The new appointees will exercise the powers of functional/departmental heads as per the delegation of authority. We wish them all the very best in their new role,” Chandrasekaran stated in the order.

    After a competitive bidding process, the government had in October last year sold Air India to Talace Pvt Ltd — a subsidiary of the Tata group’s holding company.

    Tata Sons appoints Pradipta Bagchi as the new group CCO

    MUMBAI: Tata Sons has announced the appointment of Pradipta Bagchi as the group chief communications officer with the effect from 12, September 2017.

    Bagchi will report to Tata Sons executive chairman N. Chandrasekaran.

    A professional with over 25 years of experience in business, media and communications, Bagchi has been the head of corporate communications for TCS since 2005.

    Chandrasekaran said, “As the group chief communications officer, he will play a key role in driving seamless communication experience across the Tata group as well as create engagement with stakeholders.”

    Bagchi was an editor and reporter with Indian media houses like The Times of India, The Economic Times and Business Standard prior to joining TCS. He is a graduate of the University of Sussex.

    Tata Trusts head corporate communications and public relations Debasis Ray, will continue to support the Tata Group communications team on an ongoing basis.
