    Zee English to debut ‘The Fugitive’ on 27 October

    MUMBAI: Zee English will premiere the thriller series The Fugitive. The weekly action-adventure series launches on 27 October, and will air every Wednesday at 8 pm.

    The show replacing reruns of the gangster flick Soprano’s tells story of a man, who stays true to his profession irrespective of the circumstances.

    The Fugitive deals with a doctor, wrongly accused for his wife’s murder. He later on becomes a fugitive on the run for the Police, but a savior for many people throughout his journey to find the right culprit, says a company release.

    The show that aired on CBS in early 2000 in the US is an action thriller produced by Arnold Kopelson, Anne Kopelson and stars Tim Daly, Mykelti Williamson, and Stephen Lang.

    The Fugitive’s basic premise is picked from a 1963-67 television series of the same name and the 1993 Harrison Ford film.

    While it is establish right in the first episode that doc Kimble is innocent, that the real murderer is the one-armed man played by Lang), and that a relentless detective named Gerard (Williamson) is hot on his trail.

    Speaking about the new launch Zee English business head Ajay Trigunayat said, “With the launch of The Fugitive, Zee English brings to its viewers more excitement this season. Keeping with the trend of airing the best of programmes to our viewers, Zee English has taken a step forward in this direction. We are sure that our viewers will watch The Fugutive with great enthusiasm.”

    Adding further Trigunayat said, “We are positive that this show will give the channel a new dimension the way viewers look at thrillers, as in the past too we had received stupendous success for shows like Witch blade and The Sopranos.”

  • ‘Boomtown’ to debut on AXN 5 January

    MUMBAI: After flagging off the new year with a non stop movie marathon, the action adventure channel will premiere new acquisition Boomtown.
    A crime drama, which analyses a crime from the eyes of different people, will start airing every Monday from 5 January 2003 at 10 pm.

    Recipient of the George Foster Peabody Award for Excellence in Broadcasting 2003, Boomtown has been ranked number one in the The Best of 2002 TV listings.
    A slickly shot NBC drama, Boomtown is a story of seven people, each from a different walk of life, including two world-weary Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) cops, an ambitious District Attorney, the hope-giving paramedic and the nervy newspaper beat reporter.

    Each week, as a new crime takes place, each person recounts the incident as he or she saw it – like the missing parts of a puzzle – pieces of information about the crime as it took place.
    As the series unfolds, the unsung heroes of Boomtown become heroes to the millions of people that they give hope to, and angels to the rest who seek comfort and understanding in the City of Angels.
    The drama stars Donnie Wahlberg, Jason Gedrick, Neal McDonough and Lana Parilla and is directed by Emmy winner Graham Yost and Jon Avnet.

    Brought on board to build up the drama band alongside espionage show 24 and CSI, Boomtown should be pivotal in building up the action and adventure channels lifestyle and fiction segment.
