    CNBC’s fourth Mutual Fund awards on 9 February

    MUMBAI: In its fourth year now, India’s Mutual Fund Excellence Awards will be held on 9 February in Mumbai. The announcement was made today by CNBC-TV18 and BNP Paribas along with Moody’s Investors Service.
     
    The Awards will use the world-renowned ranking system of Moody’s Investors Service to evaluate the Mutual Fund Schemes existing in India today. SEBI chairman G N Bajpai will be the guest of honour. Also, a special address from Indian finance minister Jaswant Singh, will also be aired for those present.

    The Mutual Fund of The Year Awards (MFA), were launched by CNBC-TV18 and BNP Paribas in February 2001. A host of awards, including the Fund House of the Year Awards, will seek to honour the outstanding funds, fund houses and fund managers.

    Apart from the leaders of the various fund houses, luminaries from the rest of the financial services sector including senior regulators, leading economists, and analysts will also be present at the Awards.

    Commenting on the occasion, CNBC-TV18’s CEO Haresh Chawla said, “The Mutual Fund of the Year Awards have become the most respected honours of their kind. This is the first time we are seeing such a secular boom in the economy and as Indian investors turn slowly, but surely, towards professional money managers to manage their wealth, it definitely augurs well for Mutual Funds. Coming at this critical juncture, the Awards ceremony will seek to honour the best performers of last year and serve as a guide to the best managed funds for millions of investors.”

    Also present at the awards will be Guinness World Record holder and co-founder of the Quantum Fund and legendary investor Jim Rogers. Dubbed “the Indiana Jones of finance” by Time Magazine, Rogers travels the world, gaining unrivalled knowledge of markets across the globe, and writing New York Times bestsellers such as “Investment Biker” and “Adventure Capitalist.” At the ceremony, Rogers will share with the audience insights on, and learnings from, the Indian and global financial markets.

    CNBC ties up with Moody’s for Mutual Fund awards

    Moody’s Investors Service will time the entry of its mutual fund rating service in India with a collaboration with CNBC India on the Mutual Fund of the Year Awards.

    A leading global rating agency, Moody’s announced today that is strengthening its business in the Asia Pacific region and establishing closer linkages with the country, which it sees as one of the largest emerging markets in the world. 

    CNBC’s Mutual Fund of The Year Awards (MFA), which were launched a year ago, serve to showcase the credit rating firm’s expertise in mutual fund analysis and ranking. The first MFA was held in February 2001.

    CNBC India CEO Haresh Chawla says the mutual fund industry was playing a significant role in developing the equity culture and a healthy long term investing ethos. Therefore, it is essential to recognise the expertise and performance of this critical investment service, he added.

    CNBC India kickstarts ‘The Maverick’ series, Monster CEO Jeff Taylor features in first show

    CNBC India on Thursday announced the launch of ‘The Maverick’ series – another addition to its portfolio of on-ground properties. The inaugural event will feature Jeff Taylor, founder CEO, TMP Worldwide and Monster.com.

     

    The Maverick has been conceptualised to celebrate the spirit of entrepreneurship. The Maverick will kick off in Bangalore on the 22 March where corporate bigwigs will meet and interact with Taylor.

     

    ‘The Maverick’ series targets the corporate sector and will be held five times a year where the focus is to highlight the achievements of unconventional business success. The emphasis being on innovation, and features personalities who broke away from traditional methods of conducting business and put their individual stamp on the ventures they were involved with.

This was a self-fulfilling prophecy. Also, a rarity amongst dot.com’s, Monster.com is profitable and has been so for 10 quarters.”

     

    The Maverick, which will be held 5 times a year, hopes to feature the people behind success stories, people who have created a groundbreaking proposition. These series like the Mutual Fund Awards established by CNBC India, the Enlightenment series would further strengthen the offerings the channel will bring to its viewers.

     

    CNBC India is a joint venture between Television Eighteen India Limited (TV18) and CNBC Asia. Raghav Bahl is the promoter of TV18 and holds 49 per cent stake in CNBC India. CNBC Asia holds a majority 51 per cent stake.
