Moodagent launches its first brand campaign in India

Mumbai: International music streaming app Moodagent empowers individuals to make their listening experience entirely their own as it unveils its global brand campaign called ‘We’re Moodagent. We’re Here’ in India. The cinematic campaign takes this thought a step further as it encourages individuals to design their own dynamic listening experience and promises to ‘be here’ for all of life’s ups and downs – with a playlist to match.

Created in-house by Copenhagen-based Moodagent, the campaign brings alive the brand thought that every distinct mood deserves its own playlist.

“Every individual is unique and both their favourite tune and their mood and situation is constantly evolving. It was important for Moodagent India to lean into the theme of individuality and personalisation and not simply distribute a global video, but rather create a local version based on the global storyboard,” said the music platform in a statement.

“The idea behind the campaign is to showcase how the flexibility, mobility and adaptability of Moodagent empowers listeners to lean into their individuality. We believe that music discovery should be simple, fun and interactive, but also appreciate how it can have a profound impact on our daily lives,” stated Moodagent India EVP and MD Jyoti Handa. “We want to connect artists and listeners – build a community – around that idea; that the music you listen to may define you for a moment, but you always have the power to explore and challenge what makes you – You.”

Vodafone Idea plans new music streaming service

MUMBAI: The largest telecom player of India is now planning to bet on a music streaming service. Vodafone Idea Ltd has plans in store to launch a new music streaming app while its biggest rivals already have ventured into the segment. The telco player will come up with the new app through partnership though did not reveal the name of the concerned company.

At a time when all the telco players are upping their content game, the strategic move will definitely help Vodafone Idea going forward, especially to take on Bharti Airtel’s Wynk Music and Reliance Jio’s JioSaavn. With the entry of the new music streaming app, the existing Idea Music app will be shut down.

“We are sunsetting the Idea Music app and we will come up very soon with an offering that will provide the best-in-class music streaming services, through a partnership that we are in the final stages of closing," Vodafone Idea chief executive officer Balesh Sharma said in a post-earnings conference call with analysts.

The move could help the telco giant to retain subscribers also. Since the entry of Jio in the market, the ARPU of the operators has declined rapidly due to the ongoing tariff war. Two legit players including Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea saw revenues from wireless business drop significantly over last two years.

However, the competition for Vodafone Idea’s new entrant will not be easy. Along with Wynk Music and JioSaavn, there are other players like players Gaana, Hungama, Apple Music and Google Play Music. Moreover, Spotify is expected to enter the Indian market by March as per media reports.

Guvera brings data saving to India

MUMBAI: Australian-owned music streaming service Guvera will expand its data saving function to India along with all 20 markets it operates in globally, allowing users to significantly reduce their data usage while streaming music.

Starting 14 July, when users listen to a track through Guvera, they will have access to advanced audio buffering technology, thus significantly reducing the data impact of playing the song again in the future.

Guvera CEO Darren Herft said that this decision has been made to ensure customers have unlimited access to Guvera’s music library and curated playlists, without being restricted by excessive data consumption.

“Guvera is focused on providing customers with the music they love, on their terms. Data is an increasingly important commodity and our data saving function ensures we are meeting the needs of music lovers,” Herft said.

In terms of functionality, as users navigate through Guvera, they will see a green arrow next to songs after they have been streamed once. This arrow indicates that when streamed in the future, data will not be used.

“For customers who stream hours of music every month, the ability to save data could have a huge impact on their monthly (phone) bill and help them keep more money in their pocket,” Herft added.
