    The exclusive film captures the mammoth scale and spread of Mumbai’s biggest ten day festival – Ganesh utsav. The processions through the streets of Mumbai on the final day of ‘Visarjan’ are the perfect representation of what Ganapati means to the city – how it draws people together, allows them to celebrate with abandon, regardless of caste, creed, age or background.

    Devdutt Pattanaik noted mythology expert delves into the legends around Ganesha and how he is represented in popular culture in the most versatile ways, as a relatable God, loved by all.

    This special also captures stars like Deepika Padukone and the Bachchans to icons like Sachin Tendulkar and some big business tycoons, all turning to India’s ‘smart mandir’ – Siddhivinayak. They all stand in front of the resident deity, Lord Ganesha – Mumbai’s favourite God – and bow their heads in hope and gratitude.

    MUMBAI: The local trains in Mumbai are known to give a unique glimpse into the lives of Mumbaikars. The most endearing part of the train is the ladies compartment which is as colorful and as boisterous as the women commuters. From Birthdays to Anniversaries to Bachelorettes and respective festivals get celebrated in these compartments. The ‘train friends’ form ‘train groups’ and eventually graduate to being an integral part of each other’s lives. As an ode to this bond of train friendship, Sony Entertainment Television recently launched the show – Ladies Special, that boasts of an engaging narrative that weaves three stories of hope, friendship, aspiration and womanhood, the show will redefine the audience’s outlook towards life. Keeping up the spirit of celebrations, the channel had a colorful surprise stored in for the commuters on the very first festival of 2019!

    On the occasion of Makarsankranti, the channel engaged in social festivities across the Ladies coaches in 40 trains on Western Railway. The Ladies coaches were bedecked with kite-shaped creatives that highlighted festive wishes from the three characters – Meghna, Bindu and Prarthna.

The activity garnered support from the radio stations as well with the RJs keeping Mumbaikars well informed about the activity. LIVE call ins were also facilitated by the OB jocks who went on-ground and travelled with the commuters capturing their sentiments and excitement with this activity.

    Social media was abuzz with passengers reacting to the activation by immediately tagging the show with their pictures on social media thanking SET for bringing some colour and joy into their lives.

    The characters of the show – Meghna Nikade, Bindu Desai and Prarthna Kashyap are winning the hearts of the audience with their journey that represents the reality of middle class life, their anxieties and aspirations in Urban India. With this activity across the Mumbai Local, Sony Entertainment Television reached out to more than 3 lakh women commuters on Western Railway.

    Tetra Pak gives Mumbai a new recycling anthem

    MUMBAI: Tetra Pak recently launched a quirkly new ad to inspire Mumbaikars to recycle their Tetra Pak cartons. A part of Tetra Pak’s on-going consumer awareness campaign  ‘Carton Le Aao, Classroom Banao’ this rap is composed by popular rapper, Emiway Bantai, who enjoys a fan base of over 1.5 lakh Mumbaikars across social media platforms. 

    The rap is all about how Mumbaikars can simply deposit their used Tetra Pak cartons at any of the deposit centres set up by Tetra Pak across Mumbai. These cartons are then recycled to create classroom desks and other useful things for schools for the lesser-privileged.

    South and South East Asia communications director Jaideep Gokhale said, “Sustainability and recycling are an intrinsic part of our organisational ethos. We have been working ahead of the curve for over 15 years to set up a viable recycling ecosystem for our paper-based cartons. Today, Mumbai has more than 175 deposit centres for used cartons, and we urge Mumbaikars to make the most of these and bring back their used cartons for recycling. We hope that this quirky, yet inspiring, rap video will take our message to millions of Mumbaikars, and inspire them. Our message is simple – bring us your used cartons, and we will recycle them to create something useful.”

    Today, Mumbaikars can deposit their used cartons at 45 Reliance Retail and Sahakari Bhandar outlets and over 130 other deposit points across the city of Mumbai. This initiative is designed to mobilise consumers to make a behavioural change and create a positive environmental impact.

    MUMBAI: On the occasion of its first birthday on 18 August, &pictures, India’s first interactive channel, created beautiful moments and memories for its audiences. In a bid to acknowledge the constant love and support of the viewers that has encouraged the channel in their various endeavours all year long, a special initiative was undertaken to make &pictures first birthday a memorable day for its viewers also.

     

    As the channel completed one year on August 18, &pictures in a one-of-its kind initiative, shared its happiness and love with all those who shared their birthday on 18 August – the date that the channel was launched last year. From surprises at the cake shops to surprise home deliveries, &pictures went all out to make viewers taste the sweet joy of happiness, success and celebrations!  The channel’s digital agency, The Small Big Idea, was present at cake-shops in Mumbai and they anonymously took down all details of those who came to order a cake for 18 August. When they came to collect the cake; &pictures not only gifted them their cake but also surprised them with their desired birthday gift.

     

    The channel created a wave of happiness amongst Mumbaikars who shared their birthday on 18 August by continuing to be its unique and interactive self; a promise that was undertaken by &pictures at the time of its launch and was made a reality through the entire year.  &pictures recorded the excitement at each of the birthdays and the videos were updated on the YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/andpictureschannel), Twitter (www.twitter.com/andpicturesin,#ANDturnsOne) and Facebook (www.facebook.com/andpictureschannel) page of &pictures.     Musafir.com pays tribute to Sachin in style

    MUMBAI: The whole of India is soaked in Sachin fever today. So of all the offers available, Mumbaikars today can also get a free drive to Wankhede Stadium. The online travel portal Musafir.com in association with TABcabs has been offering free cab rides for those heading towards Wankhede Stadium, since 7:00 am today.

    Musafir.com has engaged 200 TABcabs to provide free rides to the stadium from 14 November to 18 November. In order to avail this first come first serve service, fans need to display their match tickets at designated pick up points spread across various locations in the city. The cabs would also drop the fans back to the designated points from where they are picked up.

    The service is in line with the recently launched brand campaign where Musafir.com brand ambassador Sachin Tendulkar is seen playing a Rajasthani photographer, Shekhu Shekhawat who invites travellers to witness a new way to go ‘Ghoomne’.

    Apart from the interiors and the exteriors of all the 200 cabs being branded with the Shekhu look, the chauffeurs will also be seen sporting the signature Rajasthani turban and moustache to add to the signature appearance of Sachin’s character through this initiative.

    En-route to Wankhade Stadium, fans will enjoy the ride with peppy jingle of Musafir.com and radio voiceovers being played. A total of 800 seats are available in the AC chauffeur driven cabs for Sachin’s fans travelling to witness the iconic match at Wankhade stadium.

    This activity will also help to decongest roads and reduce traffic concerns that the city faces whenever an iconic match is played. Pooling will also help in reducing the pollution and parking issues that fans normally face.

    Mumbai Film Mart gets bigger, better

     Book your dates from 18-20 October. It is time for Mumbaikars to get ready for the third edition of the Mumbai Film Mart (MFM) to be held at Taj President.  The festival that facilitates Indian films to reach international audiences promises to be bigger and better than its previous avatars.

     

    The festival is expected to grow from its 1,200 meetings last year and 400 in its first edition. These meetings, between Indian producers and buyers and distributors from several international markets have been fruitful for both parties, with Japan, Taiwan, Brazil, Hong Kong, Poland, Germany, France, Sweden and even South Korea bagging valuable deals.   

     

    Owing to its valuable contribution in facilitating the sale of Indian films among these countries, MFM has also garnered the support of top Indian production houses such as Yash Raj Films, Disney UTV, Eros International, Reliance Entertainment, AKFPL and Balaji Motion Pictures.

     

    That said MFM is also an active platform for independent filmmakers to showcase their work alongside big banner Bollywood films.

     

    Apart from the repeat participation from its earlier breakthrough markets, MFM has confirmed attendance of new buyers and broadcasters such as Astro (Malaysia), MBC (UAE), Shoreline Entertainment (USA), Happiness Distribution and Aanna Films (France), international film services providers such as 3D Alliance (France) and KFTV (UK) and key International exhibitors such as the VOX chain of cinemas operating across the Middle East.  

     

    MFM 2013 will continue to expand the scope of the business of cinema with a focus on new technologies such as 3D, new distribution models for independent films, Books2Screen to encourage film adaptations, India Project Room for pre-selection of work-in-progress films and Filmy Room an exclusive DVD viewing library.
