    ‘Mumbai Festival 2024’ is gearing up to be a celebration of unity, culture

    Mumbai: The much-anticipated ‘Mumbai Festival 2024’ is gearing up to celebrate unity, culture, and diversity with the strategic collaborations of two prestigious events – the Mumbai Marathon and Kala Ghoda Arts Festival. The directorate of tourism, Government of Maharashtra, proudly announce these partnerships, elevating the festival to new heights and ensuring a cultural extravaganza like never before.

    The Mumbai Festival also welcomed Happy Streets; Yoga By The Bay; and Aarogyam Kidzathon onboard which are set to be integral parts of the festival as collaborative events. Besides this, one of the partners will be co – curating an exhibition on the memories of Mumbai seen through the lens of photographers over the years.

    The Mumbai Festival 2024, scheduled from January 20 to 28 January 2024, is set to captivate the heart of Mumbai with a blend of festivities by strategic partnerships with the Mumbai Marathon and Kala Ghoda Arts Festival. These collaborations bring together the spirit of athleticism and the vibrancy of the arts, promising a good experience for Mumbaikars and visitors alike. Department of tourism has entrusted Wizcraft Entertainment Agency pvt ltd. to conceptualise and manage the Mumbai festival.  

    Speaking on this occasion, Government of Maharashtra, Hon’ble Minister of Tourism Shri Girish Mahajan said, “Mumbai Festival 2024 is being organised by the Government of Maharashtra, to celebrate different facets of Mumbai. The festival brings together a set of experiences and initiatives that highlight the Mumbaikars’ spirit and the city’s rich historical and cultural heritage.”

    “The festival aims to boost tourism, cultivate development and inclusiveness, and discover new opportunities and avenues in the industry. Mumbai Festival 2024 isn’t just an event; it’s a transformative experience, poised to be one of the biggest annual festivals that India has ever witnessed. We urge everyone to join as this festival is a tribute to Mumbai capturing the essence of Mumbaikars’ indomitable spirit, delving into its rich historical heritage and embraces every facet that defines this dynamic city”, He added.

    Mumbai Festival Advisory Committee chairperson Anand Mahindra highlighted, “Mumbai Festival 2024 is envisaged to be an extravagant festivity that emphasises immersive experiences, highlights the essence of Mumbai, and will bring people together, as our theme rightly highlights ‘Everyone’s Invited.’ Through the Mumbai Festival, everyone will witness the unique celebration through multiple events amalgamating art, culture, sports, fashion, and more. This festival isn’t just an event; it promises unparalleled joy, making it the pinnacle of festivities for all revelers in attendance.”

    As a cornerstone of fitness and community engagement, the Mumbai Marathon perfectly aligns with the theme of ‘Everyone’s Invited’ at the Mumbai Festival 2024. A synonymous name in Mumbai’s cultural landscape, the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival will contribute its artistic charm to the Mumbai Festival 2024.

    In addition to the Mumbai Marathon and Kala Ghoda Arts Festival, the Mumbai Festival 2024 features an array of activities including cultural events, a Music Fest, Maha Mumbai Expo, Cinema and Beach Fests, a Movie competition, Cricket Clinic, Start-up fest, and more. Distinctive collaborations like “Mumbai Walks” and the SHOP & WIN Festival add unique elements, honouring Mumbai’s unsung heroes and offering exciting prizes.

    MUMBAI: As it happened the corporate world of Mumbai left their business suits away and decided to hit the roads wearing jogging kit and sports shoes to participate in the largest marathon in South Asia.

     

    The battalion of runners was filled with dignitaries from every sector of industry, and their successful completion was soon visible on social media, as they shared their rejuvenating story on various platforms.

     

    HBO India managing director Monica Tata wrote on social media, “With everyone posting their marathon achievements today, let me also put mine. Did the dream run for Isha Vidya along with my daughter Dania and we have raised so far Rs 1.8 lacs for them! With few more weeks to go before the deadline is over hopefully will cross 2 lacs! Thank you so much to all the people who have donated generously. With heartfelt gratitude and blessings from the rural kids you have helped make a life.”

     

    Monica’s noble post was followed by film maker Kailash Koppikar’s post stating his lap timings. “Finished the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon 2015 – Half Marathon in 2:13:37,” he wrote.

     

    Grey India managing director Sunil Lulla used social media to let people know who all he dedicated this effort to. “It was a glorious morning, with my running partners, Lazarus and Krishna. We started and finished together in 1 hour 57 mins, over 21.10 km. Lazi broke his jinx of under 2. Simply superb performance by Lazi. Great friendship progressing ahead, with Krishna sacrificing his timing to run together. This run dedicated to Amrita and Parthiv Kilachand on their 15th wedding anniversary. In addition dedicated to Children’s Movement for Civic Awareness,” he wrote.

     

    Sony Max and Sony Six executive vice president – sales Deep Drona reached his personal best and took social media to thank his well wishers. “Dear all, thank you very much for the encouraging words I completed my 3rd SCMM and am keeping the streak of improvement going. Clocked 2:00:18 hrs,” he tweeted.

     

    Media veteran Bharat Kapadia was proud of his feat and tweeted, “My best timing so far for the half marathon… 2:12:28.”

     

    Like them, hundred others from the fraternity descended on the roads to test their limits and spread awareness about various causes as they proudly brandished their achievements on the social media.

    MUMBAI: The 2014 edition of the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon drew media professionals like a fish to water. A  whole bunch of executive right from broadcast to media agencies to marketers to advertising professionals donned their sports shoes, and pinned their numbers to their T-shirts, and pounded the streets as they joined 40,000 other runners to test either the Dream Run, the half marathon or the entire distance.

     

    Among those who woke themselves early on 19 January included: Meenakshi Menon (she and 10 others ran for an NGO Vanashakti), Suki Dusanj, Times Television Network CEO Sunil Lulla, former Indiagames CEO Vishal Gondal, Mindshare’s Jai Lala, Vizeum India head S. Yesudas, Sahara group’s Kailashnath Koppikar, Sapna Bhavnani, MindShare’s Rajit Desai, Sony Entertainment’s Deep Drona, Star India’s  Kevin Vaz, Lashmi Narasimham, Bharat Kapadia, Mindshare’s Amin Lakhani, Paritosh Joshi, HDFC Life’s marketing head Sanjay Tripathy, CNBC TV18 marketing head Suranjana Ghosh Aikara.

     

    Some of them ran for charity; some to challenge themselves. Their facebook accounts and twitter posts were replete  with their individual experiences and how they bettered their previous best times. Or how they braved aches and pains to complete the course they had set for themselves.

     

    Rajit Desai completed his first half marathon in 2 hours 47 minutes, a feat which he felt was not spectacular, but “satisfying for a debut.” Jain Lala wore the number 34377 on his jersey and had all his colleagues and friends going ga-ga over him. Sony’s Deep Drona ran his half marathon in 2 hours 4 minutes and 9 seconds. Said he: “Bettered last year by 2 mins. Great result compared to the work put in this year.”

     

    Viacom18 Pictures Ajit Andhare ran with his friends from the times of his GE days and also to promote the studios upcoming Abhay Deol film. Yesudas hit the  asphalt for the half marathon, adding to the tally of long distance races he has participated in. Entertainment Network India Ltd (ENIL – Radio Mirchi) CEO Prashant Panday completed his half marathon in 1 hour 53 minutes, which is by all standards a good time for a non-professional runner.

     

    Media industry veteran and now marketing consultant Bharat Kapadia says he ran his seventh consecutive half marathon and completed it in 2 hours 17 minutes.

    Viacom18 Media group CEO Sudhanshu Vats, on his part, ran the full marathon in a classy time of just under four hours. 

    Times TV’s Sunil Lulla did well too. Said he: ” Mumbai Half Marathon, 2014. My first and I am grateful to complete it in. 1 hr: 54 mins: 29 sec , ranking 650 overall and 78 in Veteran. I pledged a healthy sum of money to CMCA, and am glad I could deliver on my promise. Thank You.”
