Senco strikes gold with record Rs 1,700 Cr festive sales

MUMBAI: Talk about glittering results! Senco Gold & Diamonds has struck festive fortune, clocking record-breaking sales of over Rs 1,700 crore in October, the highest in its 85-year history. The sparkle came courtesy of Diwali and Dhanteras, as buyers flocked to stores undeterred by sky-high gold prices.

The jewellery giant reported a 56 per cent year-on-year jump in sales, with gold value surging 60 per cent and diamonds glittering 32 per cent higher compared to last October. Even as gold touched a record Rs 132,294 per 10 grams on October 31, Senco managed to grow both in volume and value, with a 4 per cent uptick in gold volume, 5 per cent in diamonds, and 8 per cent in silver.

New design launches, buoyant consumer sentiment, and irresistible festive offers kept cash registers ringing across Senco’s 185 stores in India and online platforms.

“These record numbers reflect a very positive customer sentiment,” said Senco Gold & Diamonds managing director and CEO Suvankar Sen. “We are geared up to meet the strong demand through the upcoming wedding season and beyond. Our focus remains on new design innovation, operational efficiency, and enhanced returns for our stakeholders.”

The company also expanded its footprint in October with new showrooms in Etawah, Bikaner, and Dehradun, while maintaining steady growth momentum with a 25 per cent year-on-year retail value increase across Q1, Q2, and October.

With 185 showrooms in India, two in Dubai, and eight Sennes lifestyle stores, Senco’s festive sparkle shows no sign of dimming. Even as gold prices reach dizzying heights, it’s clear that for Indian shoppers, love for gold never loses its shine.

  • Notice & District turn popcorn into crowned glory

Notice & District turn popcorn into crowned glory

MUMBAI: What happens when cinema meets design? You get a popcorn bucket that wears a crown. In a spectacular fusion of creativity and fandom, District and Notice, the design-led experimental object brand, have joined forces to create a one-of-a-kind collectible for the 10-year anniversary launch of Bahubali: The Epic. The collaboration celebrates not just the film’s grand return but the fans who made it legendary.

The idea was born when District suggested reimagining the iconic crown of Bahubali, a symbol of power, legacy, and cinematic grandeur. Notice took that spark and transformed it into an elevated design experience that turns an everyday popcorn bucket into a work of art.

The result, a bucket crowned with a sculpted topper, blending functionality with fandom and turning a regular movie snack into a keepsake worthy of royalty.

Crafted by Notice’s team of designers, engineers, and makers, each limited-edition piece reflects meticulous craftsmanship, every curve and contour designed to feel as intentional as it is iconic.

“Rather than just create merchandise, we wanted to design a moment,” said the team at Notice. “A simple act like eating popcorn becomes a connection to Bahubali’s epic spirit.”

Available exclusively at Miraj Cinemas, Mumbai, during the film’s release, this limited-edition collaboration stands as a love letter to storytelling, scale, and design that makes even the smallest gestures feel monumental.

  • Galeries Lafayette lands in Mumbai with massive bet on Indian luxury

Galeries Lafayette lands in Mumbai with massive bet on Indian luxury

MUMBAI: Mumbai will get its first luxury department store next month when Galeries Lafayette throws open the doors of its 90,000 sq ft flagship in the heritage Turner Morrison and Voltas House buildings at Kala Ghoda. The move marks the French retailer’s biggest bet yet on India’s exploding luxury market, forecast to hit $85bn by 2030.

The partnership between the 130-year-old Parisian institution and Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited (ABFRL), struck in 2022, brings more than 250 global luxury brands to five floors of meticulously restored colonial grandeur. London’s Virgile + Partners has designed the space to blend Parisian refinement with Mumbai’s architectural heritage.

Aditya Birla group chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla called it “a coming-of-age moment for Indian luxury retail.” He pointed to India’s fastest-growing affluent population and a new generation of globally exposed consumers hungry for high-end experiences. “For the first time, India will welcome a luxury department store, housed in landmark real estate, executed with precision, and infused with the elegance of Indian sensibilities,” he said.

Galeries Lafayette group executive chairman Nicolas Houzé described the Mumbai opening as “a defining moment” that brings together French heritage with India’s energy and cultural richness. The partnership with the Aditya Birla group, he added, gives the project “a particularly strong foundation.”

To mark the occasion, both chairmen sailed from the Gateway of India aboard a flotilla of yachts for a celebration on the Arabian Sea—a suitably theatrical arrival for a brand built on spectacle.

Beyond the merchandise, the flagship offers personal styling, private lounges, concierge services and curated cultural programmes. ABFRL, managing director Ashish Dikshit said the store aims to create “cultural experiences” that go beyond retail. “We are setting new benchmarks in assortment, service and experience,” he said.

The store opens early next month at 16 G. Vaidya Road, Kala Ghoda. If India’s luxury trajectory holds, it won’t be the last of its kind. Mumbai’s moneyed set, it seems, is ready to shop like Parisians—without leaving home.

  • Philips trims the taboo with Oneblade Intimate

Philips trims the taboo with Oneblade Intimate

MUMBAI: Looks like Philips isn’t beating around the bush, literally! The brand has launched the Philips Oneblade Intimate, a sleek, skin-safe grooming device designed to make “down there” care feel as normal as skincare or shaving.

With India’s Gen Z leading a self-care revolution, Philips’ latest innovation answers a growing need for safe, irritation-free Intimate grooming. A recent Philips survey of over 6,000 young Indians found that a whopping 90 per cent already practise Intimate hair removal, but many still battle nicks, cuts and discomfort from products not built for sensitive zones.

Enter Oneblade Intimate: a unisex, waterproof device made to trim and shave with precision, protection and peace of mind. Its triple-protection skin protect blade system and fast-moving cutter (100 times per second) promise a smooth, nick-free experience, while a 3mm comb and rechargeable battery make it travel-friendly too.

To launch the product, Philips rolled out its cheeky Dontbeataroundthebush campaign with the tagline “Down there, done right.” From bush-shaped installations across Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru to influencer buzz and a vibrant event at Taj Lands End, Mumbai, the campaign turned Intimate grooming into a confident conversation about comfort and choice.

“Today’s younger generations are rewriting the rules of self-care,” said Philips personal health India subcontinent head Smit Shukla. “Their openness inspired us to create an honest conversation and a product that delivers safety, comfort, and freedom of choice.”

Priced at Rs 2,399, Philips Oneblade Intimate is available on Amazon, Blinkit, Instamart and Nykaa (which also offers an exclusive women’s edition with an exfoliating glove). Replacement blades range from Rs 899 to Rs 1,549.

With its bold messaging and light-hearted honesty, Philips has managed to make grooming talk, well, a cut above the rest.

The limited-edition offering, which lets riders book caravan-style vehicles for outstation getaways, opens bookings on 13 October, with rides starting 15 October.

Initially launched in August to promote premium outstation travel, the Delhi pilot saw 100 per cent occupancy throughout its run, prompting the expansion. Each Motorhome comes loaded with road-trip luxuries, a TV, microwave, mini-fridge, and even a lavatory, offering up to five passengers a lounge-on-wheels experience complete with a driver and helper.

  • PR agency Adgcraft plants flag in India’s tech capital

PR agency Adgcraft plants flag in India’s tech capital

BENGALURU: Every PR agency in India eventually opens a Bengaluru office. Adgcraft has now joined the queue. The Noida-based communications firm, founded in 2021, launched its sixth office in the Karnataka capital, positioning itself to service clients from India’s sprawling startup and technology ecosystem.

The new operation at Awfis, Samrah Plaza in Ashok Nagar targets startups, corporates, tech firms and artificial intelligence companies—basically anyone with a pulse and a communications budget in a city teeming with thousands of IT companies and global tech giants. Adgcraft already works with over 200 brands across banking, lifestyle, hospitality and emerging tech. The Bengaluru push aims to deepen that roster whilst building a 25-person team by 2026.

Adgcraft managing director Abhinay Kumar Singh delivered the obligatory enthusiasm. “We are excited to open our new office in Bengaluru, the tech capital of India,” he said, calling the expansion a step towards “empowering brands by combining creativity with strategy.” The agency’s motto—”Your story is your strength, and communication is ours”—suggests it’s not shy about self-promotion.

Adgcraft operates three verticals: Adgcraft Communications, Adgcraft AI and Adgcraft Global. The Bengaluru office will drive operations in social media, performance marketing, video production and event management, alongside traditional PR mandates like media relations, crisis communications and reputation management. The agency claims experience with international clients from the US, south Korea and other markets, though it didn’t name them.

Four years is lightning speed in the agency world. Adgcraft has already spread across Noida, Lucknow, Mumbai and Gujarat before landing in Bengaluru. Whether that pace reflects genuine growth or overextension remains to be seen. India’s PR industry is fragmented and fiercely competitive, with established players like Adfactors, Genesis BCW and Weber Shandwick dominating corporate mandates whilst boutique agencies chase startups.
Singh claims that Adgcraft is “one of India’s most trusted PR agencies.” Trust takes time to build, especially in an industry where reputation is currency; and he seems to have managed to gain it, going by the number of clients on the agency’s roster.

Bengaluru offers plenty of opportunity, but also plenty of rivals who’ve been working the city’s startups and tech giants for decades. Adgcraft’s challenge is  going to be proving it can deliver results that justify the expansion into the tech gold mine.
