    7th Apsara Awards on 25 January

    MUMBAI: The year 2012 marks the beginning to the celebrations for the ‘100 years of Indian Cinema’. In its initiative to flag off the centenary celebrations, the Film and Television Producers Guild of India, in association with Wizcraft International Entertainment and Colors, is all set to flag off the ‘event at the 7th Apsara Awards scheduled to take place on 25 January at the Yash Raj Studios.

    Announcing the same Film and Television Producers Guild President Ramesh Sippy said, “The Apsara Film & Television Producers Guild Awards is an effort to mark the success of the growing Indian entertainment Industry. We are very excited to honor and felicitate that group of incredible people who have continued to make a significant contribution to this industry. This year too, we hope to inspire and empower achievers from the fraternity, especially with the entertainment industry all set to welcome the 100 years of Indian cinema.”

    The event promises to get stronger on its entertainment and celebrity quotient this year reiterating what Apsara Awards stand for. As a special segment of the celebrations, the awards night will showcase a special tribute dedicated to the legends of Indian cinema and their glorious years in Bollywood. A melody of hits will showcase hit songs from the yesteryears and the stars that emulated the iconic on-screen characters.

    The Apsara Awards, a joint initiative by the Film & Television Producers Guild and Wizcraft International Entertainment, was instituted to honour exceptional talent and breed new potential within the Film and Television industry.

    Averred Guild Sr Vice-President Mukesh Bhatt, “I am extremely delighted to be part of the celebrations marking 100 years of Indian Cinema. The celebrations have only just begun and we look forward to another great year of movies and entertainment.”

    The Guild, over half a decade old, consists of more than 160 members who constitute some of the most accomplished and influential luminaries.

    Release of Blood Money rescheduled to 30 March

    MUMBAI: The release of Vishesh Film‘s and Viacom18 Motion Pictures‘ action thriller, Blood Money, has been rescheduled once again; it will now release on 30 March.

    Earlier scheduled for release on 23 March, the film was then rescheduled to release on 13 April.

    On the repeated rescheduling of the film‘s release, producer Mukesh Bhatt said: “We have to reschedule the release of our film because the release dates of Saif Ali Khan‘s starrer Agent Vinod is being rescheduled again and again. While we are avoiding a clash with the film, they are rescheduling, may be wanting to have a clash. This has made us reschedule the release of Bloody Money once and for all.”

    Blood Money is about a young man‘s journey back to his love and redemption after his dreams turn into nightmares.

    The movie stars Kunal Khemu and Amrita Puri and is produced by Vishesh Films and Viacom18 Motion Pictures.

    Ramesh Sippy re-elected as Film and TV Producers Guild president

    cThe first meeting of the newly elected Guild Council of Management, which was held immediately after the 57th Annual General Meeting on 29 September in Mumbai, also elected filmmakers Mukesh Bhatt, Vipul Shah and Ashutosh Gowariker and television producer Dheeraj Kumar as vice presidents.


    Manish Goswami and Ashim Samanta (son of Shakti Samanta) were elected
    treasurers.


    Some of the other members of the newly elected Council of Management of Guild are Yash Chopra, Manmohan Shetty, Kamal Kumar Barjatya, Amit Khanna, Rakesh Roshan, Bobby Bedi, Subhash Ghai, Karan Johar, Vishal Bharadwaj and Farhan Akhtar.

    Vishesh Films to release Raaz 3 on 6 July

    MUMBAI: After Raaz and Raaz 2, Vikram Bhatt returns to Vishesh Films to take up the direction of their next film Raaz 3. He had last helmed Footpath in 2003 for the production banner.

    So enthused is Bhatt about the project that he has decided to release Raaz 3 on 6 July next year. Accordingly, the Bhatts are making all kinds of preparations to launch the film that is scheduled to roll on 15 January next year.

    Bhatt has even gone ahead and announced the cast of his film. It will star Emraan Hashmi, Jacqueline Fernandez and Bipasha Basu, who will make a comeback in the Bhatt camp after reportedly turning down a lead role in Murder 2.

    Having started his career in 1992 with the production house‘s Jaanam, he went on to do four more films with it until after 2003 when he had a fall out with Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt.
