    MUMBAI: Two veterans of the advertising world in India have joined hands to launch a creative agency by the name of Company. While Bhupal Ramnathkar has been instrumental in starting the design agency Umbrella Designs, KB Vinod has headed Mudra West in the past.

    The new outfit is a full-service agency with digital as its integral driving component as the founders believe it is the medium of the future.

    Company has 20 employees working at present and plans to hire more in about a month. The agency already has a few projects in the pipeline, the details of which it will divulge at a later date.

    The name ‘Company’ is akin to a working title for now. As part of the launch, the duo has decided to make interested netizens part of the deal by calling for suggestions for a name for the agency. Any interested person can suggest a name for the agency along with a bid. The biggest bidder’s name will be used as the name of the agency and the money shall be donated for a good cause.

    MUMBAI: Mudra West, an SBU of Mudra India, has won the Lonely Planet guide‘s creative and digital media account following a multi-agency pitch. Lonely Planet recently established operations in India to develop its first locally produced guides for Indian travellers.

    BBC Worldwide‘s wholly owned subsidiary, Lonely Planet, has grown to become one of the leading global providers of travel information over the past 39 years. Lonely Planet has distributed English-language guides in India since the 1980‘s primarily been purchased by expatriates and inbound travellers.

    Lonely Planet‘s Indian publishing team will drive the development of the new local products from offices in Gurgaon and Delhi. Lonely Planet India will initially launch both international and domestic guides for Indian travellers and will expand its local content offering across a range of platforms, including the internet.

    Lonely Planet – India GM Sesh Seshadri said, “We are very excited about working with Mudra and the progress of our new guides – the first ever created in India by our new Indian team. Mudra inspired us with their marketing ideas and vision for how to launch and develop Lonely Planet‘s brand in India.”

    Sharmila Malekar returns to Mudra as senior VP

    MUMBAI: Mudra India has appointed Sharmila Malekar as senior vice president for Mudra West. This is Malekar‘s second innings at Mudra, having earlier worked as VP in 2004.

    Malekar moves in from Mind Mirror, a research & strategic consultancy, where she was designated as managing partner.

    In her new role, she will report in to Mudra West president Arijit Ray and will help strengthen brands on businesses like ITC, Jyothy Laboratories, Electrolux, Kalpataru,
    Emami, HPCL and Godrej.
     
    Malekar comes with over 18 years of experience in brand building and consumer research. She started her career with Lintas where she worked on brands like Liril and J&J feminine hygiene for their Stayfree, Carefree range, among others.

    She has also worked with Ogilvy and Mather and Publicis Ambience Advertising.

    “Malekar comes on board with a rich experience of overseeing a wide spread of brands in the FMCG, automotive entertainment and beverages space, across few of the best agencies of the country like Ogilvy, Lowe and Publicis. We are looking forward to her experience in consolidating and building on some of our most important client relationships at Mudra West,” Ray said.

    MUMBAI: Mudra North & East has won the creative duties for Policybazaar.com, an online insurance aggregator with approximately 5 million visitors every month.

    The size of the business is estimated to be Rs 220 million. The pitch process included eight agencies, an official statement added.

    The company‘s aim is to make buying insurance easy. One can choose from the largest selection of insurance plans from leading insurance companies and select the most suited plan and purchase it online. 
     
    Policybazaar offers a wide variety of insurance plans comprising both life and general insurance. Apart from this, Policybazaar.com also allows their customers to compare financial services including personal loans and home loans, and offer end-to-end support for these services right from application to disbursal of loans.

    Policybazaar.com CMO Akshya Mehrotra said, “We are very happy to appoint Mudra as our creative agency, and we look forward for some exceptional creative work from them which will help PolicyBazaar.com become a household brand.     Mudra to handle Nestle’s 100-year celebration campaign

    MUMBAI: Mudra Communications will handle Nestle India‘s 100-year celebration campaign.

    The agency, which was chosen following a multi-agency pitch, won the mandate on a project basis.

    The first round of pitch saw participation of Nestle‘s roster agencies like Scarecrow Communications, JWT India, McCann Worldgroup India and Publicis Capital. However, the final competition was between Mudra and Publicis.
     
    Nestle that will complete a century in India in 2012, has already begun celebrations in the Philippines and Turkey market. In India, the celebrations will begin by the end of 2011.

    Although the official figures could not be confirmed, the size of the campaign is believed to be Rs 400 million.

    The company that has brands like Nescafe, Maggi, Milkybar, Milo, Kit Kat, Bar One, Milkmaid and Nestea has always been active in advertising and plans to continue with the 100-year celebration campaign.

    MUMBAI: The Indians innings at the weeklong advertising event has seen an upright start.

    There are seven Indian nominations in the promos and activations category – and six finalists in the Direct Lions category at the 58th International festival of Creativity.

    Besides four entries from Mudra, there is one entry each from Grey India and Contract Advertising in the Direct Lions. While in the promo and activation category, BBDO India has three nominations – and Mudra India and CreativeLand Asia have two each.

    What started in 1954 with just 130 delegates has grown into a behemoth festival with approximately 10,000 delegates expected to attend the festival this year. The event will hold 57 seminars and 20 workshops.

    Cannes 2011 has received an impressive 28,828 entries from an estimated 90 countries, including 1,177 entries from India. There are 13 categories this year, including the latest addition — Creative Effectiveness.

    Consequently, in terms of participation the numbers are rising: while the US has sent a group of 1,400 delegates, the Indian total stands at nearly 170, China almost 250 and Brazil approximately 700.

    MUMBAI:Mudra West has won the creative duties of Worldwide Media‘s (WWM) BBC Top Gear magazine.

    This will be Mudra‘s fourth win of a brand from the stable Worldwide Media (WWM), a joint venture between The Times of India Group and BBC Magazines UK. In 2009, Mudra West had bagged the accounts of Lonely Planet, Filmfare and Femina.

    For the motoring media brand‘s account, there was no incumbent agency and neither any pitch involved. 
     
    Lonely Planet magazine and BBC Top Gear publisher Debolin Sen says, “We are pleased to have Mudra West on board as our very able creative partners.     Owned by BBC Worldwide, Top Gear started as a television show in the UK in 1977. In 1993, the brand was extended to the new BBC Top Gear Magazine launched in the UK and currently is published in various international markets.

    MUMBAI: Coalition loyalty programme, i-mint Loyalty Solutions and Research, has signed three new marketing and advertising agencies to assist the company in brand development, marketing strategies, promotional planning and execution of marketing campaigns. 
     
    The Mudra Group has been appointed to drive i-mint‘s ATL (above the line) advertisements, while Rediffusion-Wunderman has been appointed for i-mint‘s BTL (below the line) advertisement push and will provide total integrated marketing solutions in India and Asia Pacific regions.
     
    Dentsu has been appointed as i-mint‘s media agency.

    These agencies will together develop creative solutions for i-mint by leveraging the full spectrum of their marketing and advertising capabilities.

    Jaypee ropes in Mudra Delhi as creative partner

    MUMBAI: Jaypee Group, the infrastructural company, has roped in Mudra India Delhi as its creative agency.

    The agency will handle the creative duties of the real estate group‘s cement business for South India, edible oil, power and Formula One. The consolidated account size is in the region of Rs 400-500 million.
     
    Says Jaypee Group EVP Shiva Dixit, “Since we were entering into South India with our cement business, we were looking to engage a new agency. There was no pitch called for these businesses. Mudra is a great agency and they have a lot of good advertising and creative contribution to their credit. So, we just thought of going along with them.”

    In the next couple of months, the company is also expected to launch a campaign through the outdoor, print, TV advertising for its edible oil division.
     
    Adds Mudra North and East EVP and head Ajay Naqvi, “We are extremely excited with this mandate. We were persistent and I think our passion, thinking and work all got acknowledged and appreciated. We hope to do justice to this responsibility. I must specifically mention Vandana Katoch, Creative Director and Gopal Krishnan, Vice President, who have ably led this business and I am confident will continue to do so.”

    For Formula One racing event in India, Jaypee plans to start promoting close to the event dateline 30 October. The coveted race will be taking place at Jaypee Group Circuit in Greater Noida, about 50 km from New Delhi.

    MUMBAI: Mudra South has appointed Vipul Devji Thakkar as executive creative director, Mudra South. He will spearhead the creative work that comes out of Mudra South, including all three offices in the South region at Kochi, Chennai and Bangalore.
