    Movies Now to air ‘Fight for Freedom’ movie marathon

    MUMBAI: It’s that time of the year when the patriot in you will once again surface and, in spirit of the day, MOVIES NOW is showcasing the best of Hollywood in a special “Fight to Freedom” property, which will showcase movies that inspire the feeling of freedom and the struggle one has to go through to claim it. The movie marathon will air on August 15, 2016,Monday, from 1pm-9pm.

    The movies scheduled for the day include inspiring tales of freedom struggle, with titles like: Man of Steel, Pacific Rim, 300: Rise of an Empire, and Edge of Tomorrow

    Man of Steel, the movie narrates the story of an inconspicuous super-human, who is forced to fight his own race to save planet Earth. Henry Cavill, who plays the lead, won the Best Actor Award in the MTV Movie Awards, 2014.

    The movie Pacific Rim, is an intense war drama between humans and monsters and the responsibility has fallen upon a former pilot and a trainee, who are desperately trying to save the world from the apocalypse. The film was nominated for the ‘Best Special Visual Effects’ at the BAFTA Film Awards, 2014.

    The next movie on the binge is 300: Rise of an Empire. It’s a tale of courage, where an admiral of Athens leads the pack of just 300 brave men who stand up against the vast Persian army that is marching to conquer Greece. The movie was nominated for several awards at the Golden Trailer Awards, 2014, including the one for ‘Best Fantasy Adventure’.

    Edge of Tomorrow, another exciting alien story and a fight of one soldier to win a war against aliens, despite set-backs of starting all over again, every-time he dies. The movie was critically acclaimed and was awarded with the Teen Choice Awards for the Choice Movie Actor – Action Adventure for Tom Cruise and Choice Movie Actress – Action Adventure for Emily Blunt, along with the Saturn Award for Best Editing.

    Conan O’Brien hosts an epic 2014 “MTV Movie Awards”

    Comedic genius Conan O’Brien emerged from a 5,000 pound  flaming bucket of popcorn to kick-off an epic 2014 “MTV Movie Awards” by breaking the world record for the most celebrity cameos in a show open.  Conan masterfully film-bombed 50 of the biggest and most eclectic names in pop culture including Taylor Swift, Sir Anthony Hopkins, the cast of “The Big Bang Theory,” Adam Sandler, Katy Perry, Andy Samberg, Jack White, Ashton Kutcher, Martin Scorsese, Demi Moore, Emma Watson, Russell Crowe, Paul Rudd, Jessica Alba, Lupita Nyong’o and Skrillex.  Telecast from Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE, the evening celebrated fan-favorite movies with comedy, action, music and of course, Hollywood superstars. 

     

    The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” captured the most golden popcorns of the evening, with Josh Hutcherson grabbing “Best Male Performance,” Jennifer Lawrence winning “Best Female Performance,” and Johnny Depp presenting the star-studded cast with the coveted “Movie of the Year” award.    The cast of “Entourage” reunited for the first-time on-stage to honor actor and producer Mark Wahlberg with the “Generation Award” for his extensive, diverse body of work in the film and television industry.   Quintessential leading man Channing Tatum won the third annual “Trailblazer Award.”  Jordana Brewster honored Paul Walker with a heartfelt, personal speech that introduced a moving tribute spotlighting his career.  

     

    Zac Effron won “Best Shirtless” award, just before Rita Ora helped him show the world exactly why he was worthy of this accolade.  Conan mashed up two of the most popular award categories by debuting the first-ever “best kissing fight” with Will Arnett.  Later in the evening, Orlando Bloom and Evangeline Lilly won “Best Fight” for “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.”  “Best Kiss” went to the lip-smacking threesome of Emma Roberts, Jennifer Aniston and Will Poulter for “We’re the Millers,” while presenters Zac Efron, Seth Rogen and Dave Franco hosted their own kissing contest with two women from the audience, and even Seth Rogen’s mom.  Shailene Woodley won the first-ever “Favorite Character” award, which was voted on socially, for her role in “Divergent.” 

     

    The evening was also infused with Unforgettable musical performances.  Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum superstars, Eminem and Rihanna re-teamed for an emotionally charged first live performance of their #1 smash single “The Monster.” Backed by a full piece band and a nightmare-come-to-life backdrop, the duo brought the audience to their feet with an explosive performance that blended dark and surreal imagery with raw emotion. 

     

    Fresh from the stages of Coachella, Ellie Goulding and Zedd brought the Divergent soundtrack to life. Goulding delivered a stripped down version of her new hit single, “Beating Heart,” featuring Zedd on piano.  The DJ then took the turntables for a high-octane performance of “Find You” alongside Matthew Koma and Miriam Bryant.  Surrounded by a masked fan army, MTV Artists to Watch twenty one pilots delivered a stark and haunting introspective performance of their new single, “Car Radio,” which built to a pulsating crescendo.     MUMBAI: MTV today added Hollywood A-Listers Jared Leto, Megan Fox, Jordana Brewster and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, as well as musician Rita Ora to its already star-studded line-up of presenters for the “2014 MTV Movie Awards.” Hosted by late night host and comedian Conan O’Brien, the show will air LIVE on Monday, April 14, 2014 at 6:30 am IST and a primetime repeat at 9:00pm IST from Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles exclusively on Vh1.

     

    In addition, it is also confirmed that nominees Orlando Bloom, Josh Hutcherson, Sam Claflin, Johnny Knoxville and Ice Cube will attend the show.

     

    The impressive additions set up a ‘Movie Awards’ telecast that fans will not want to miss. In addition having the quick-witted Conan O’Brien at the helm, Channing Tatum will receive third annual ‘MTV Trailblazer Award’ and Academy Award® nominated actor and producer Mark Wahlberg will be honored with the ‘MTV Generation Award’. Global superstars Eminem and Rihanna will take the stage for their first live performance of their #1 smash hit, ‘The Monster,’ while Ellie Goulding and Zedd will perform selections from the ‘Divergent Soundtrack’ with guest appearances from Miriam Bryant and Matthew Koma. In addition, MTV is adding a music discovery slot that will feature ‘MTV Artist to Watch’Twenty One Pilots performing their current single ‘Car Radio’.

    MUMBAI: You might think that the Oscars were the end of awards season, but Conan O’Brien begs to differ. That’s because MTV has just announced that the late night personality is hosting the 2014 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, 13 April 2014.

     

    “Well, I’m proud to announce that, I, Conan O’Brien, will realise my life-long dream of hosting the 2014 MTV Movie Awards,” O’Brien said.

     

    In a little over a month, Conan will take Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on MTV to deliver the golden popcorn and celebrate the year’s best movies and performances. The 2014 MTV Movie Awards will also feature exclusive sneak previews of the summer’s most anticipate movies with never-before seen footage and previews.

     

    Before all of that fun can get underway, there has to be some nominees, right. Well, MTV has got that covered too. You can find out which films, actors, actresses, kisses and villains will compete for golden popcorns on 6 March at when nominations for the 2014 MTV Movie Awards go live on MovieAwards.MTV.com.

    MUMBAI: US broadcaster MTV has announced the categories and nominees for the ‘2013 MTV Movie Awards‘. This will honour actors and films.

    Leading the pack with seven nominations each are Quentin Tarantino‘s sweeping American slavery Western ‘Django Unchained‘ and Seth MacFarlane‘s bromantic comedy ‘Ted‘, followed by the critically acclaimed ‘Silver Linings Playbook‘ with six nods and the blockbuster conclusion to the Batman trilogy ‘The Dark Knight Rises‘ with five. All are competing for best film.

    Rounding out the most nominated films are ‘The Avengers‘ also a best picture nominee, ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower‘, ‘Pitch Perfect‘ and ‘Skyfall with four‘ each. Fans will have the Power of the Popcorn in their hands as voting has begun.

    The show takes place on 14 April from the Sony Pictures Studios Lot in Culver City, California. The 2013 MTV Movie Awards will serve as the official kick off to the Summer Blockbuster season with its trademark irreverent celebration of the movies, actors and music that audiences love. Previously announced, rising superstar Rebel Wilson, nominated for Best Female Performance and Breakthrough Performance as Fat Amy in ‘Pitch Perfect‘ will star as host and be joined by MTV‘s Inaugural Comedic Genius Award recipient Will Ferrell, who is nominated for Best On-Screen Duo with Zach Galifianakis for ‘The Campaign‘.

    Keeping with the show‘s tradition of celebrating current cultural memes, this year‘s telecast will introduce two new categories. Abdominally blessed nominees Channing Tatum ‘Magic Mike‘, Taylor Lautner ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2‘, Daniel Craig ‘Skyfall‘ and Christian Bale ‘The Dark Knight Rises‘ will sweat it out against fan-favourite stuffed bear Seth MacFarlane as ‘Ted‘ for the crown of Best Shirtless Performance.

    Meanwhile moments from ‘Les Misérables‘, ‘Magic Mike‘, ‘Pitch Perfect‘, ‘Silver Linings Playbook‘ and ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower‘ will compete to win the inaugural Best Musical Moment award.

    Recent Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence ‘Silver Linings Playbook‘ and ‘House at the End of the Street‘ joins fellow female front-runners Emma Watson ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower‘, Rebel Wilson ‘Pitch Perfect‘, Anne Hathaway ‘Les Misérables‘ and Mila Kunis ‘Ted‘ for the chance to take home the most Golden Popcorns. At the head of the pack for the men are Seth MacFarlane in ‘Ted‘, Jamie Foxx in ‘Django Unchained‘, Bradley Cooper in ‘Silver Linings Playbook‘ and Channing Tatum in ‘Magic Mike‘. As in previous years, the category of Movie of the Year will remain an ongoing battle throughout the telecast. Additional presenters, performers and special award recipients will be announced at a later date.

    MTV Movie Awards to honour Jim Carrey, Spike Lee

    MUMBAI: US broadcaster MTV has announced that it will honour actor Jim Carrey and director Spike Lee at the MTV Movie Awards which will air in the US on 8 June.

    Carrey will receive the MTV Generation Award for his career and acting roles that have captured and entertained MTV audiences for years.

    Tom Cruise was the first to receive the honour at last year’s Movie Awards ceremony. In addition, MTV will honour Spike Lee with the Silver Bucket of Excellence Award for his film Do The Right Thing

    The show will be hosted by Jessica Alba. Presenters at the awards will include Sandra Bullock, Keanu Reeves, Eva Mendes, Colin Farrell, Samuel L. Jackson and Matt Dillon.

    MUMBAI: US broadcaster MTV has announced that Jessica Alba will host the 2006 MTV Movie Awards.

    The show will air in the US on 8 June and takes place in California on 3 June.

    Alba is also a nominee for Fantastic Four. She is also competing in the sexiest perfomer category for Sin City.

    Alba says, “The MTV Movie Awards is like a three-ring circus and I’m thrilled they asked me to be this year’s ringmaster”.

    MTV US president Christina Norman says, “Talented, smart and funny, Jessica is one of Hollywood’s hottest and most sought-after actresses, and the perfect leading lady for the Movie Awards. This year’s show promises to be anything but traditional, and Jessica is just the person to help mix things up.”

    MUMBAI: US broadcaster MTV has announced that the 2006 MTV Movie Awards on 3 June at the Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, California.

    The 15th edition of the show will have the infamous golden popcorn up for grabs in such unusual categories as Best Kiss, Best Villain, and Best Comedic Performance along with the debut of several new awards.

    The nominees will be announced later. The nominees are chosen through a poll in the US of MTV and MTV2 viewers.

    Last year the show was hosted by actor Jimmy Fallon. Sponsors of thios year’s event are Dr Pepper, Taco Bell, Dentyne, LOreal Paris, Neutrogena, Pontiac and Starburst.
