    MUMBAI: The dreaded SARSCOV2 virus claimed another victim from the television and political firmament today. 70-year-old Harikrishnan. Vasanthakumar, the founder of Tamil TV channel Vasanth TV, and Tamil Nadu’s biggest electronics retail chain Vasanth & Co succumbed to Covid2019 today in Chennai’a Apollo Hospital. Vasnathakumar was also a member of parliament representing the Kanyakumari constituency, a seat he successfully won in the 2019 elections.

    The veteran Congress leader was admitted to Apollo Hospital on 10 August after showing symptoms of Covid2019. He was battling the virus since then was put on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) treatment as well as a ventilator. But the once-upon-a-time salesman-turned entrepreneur-turned politician gave up the fight on Friday when he succumbed to the disease.

    MUMBAI: Just ahead of the 2019 General Election, elections in MP, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Mizoram are being billed as a litmus test for various political parties which will set the tone for the national elections next year. Amidst all the high crescendo campaigning for these critical state elections, News18 India’s much acclaimed show “Bhaiyaji Kahin” will travel to Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh to capture on-ground realities and voters’ views on pressing issues that they face.  A travelogue-cum-chaupal, the innovative show is designed to bring together people, leaders and opinion leaders together for a meaningful debate.

    The show anchored by Prateek Trivedi, Bhaiyaji Kahin had visited these states earlier as well with a view to understand people’s perception and expectations. At the time the show had held discussions on key issues including inflation, farmer suicides, corruption, incumbency, united opposition, voting on caste basis, to name a few. This time around, it aims to cover additional cities with in-depth and extensive reportage on various voter priorities in the immediate lead up to the elections.     Bhaag Milkha Bhaag to run tax free in MP, Goa

    MUMBAI: Undoubtedly, Farhan Akhtar’s Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is getting commendable responses from the viewers at large. Last week, it was the Maharashtra government that declared the actor’s recent release Bhaag Milkha Bhaag to go tax free in the state. Now, even the state governments of Madhya Pradesh and Goa have declared the film to go tax free.

     

    In an official statement, Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced tax exemption to the film in the state, stating that it was quite a while ago that a patriotic movie was made and released.  

     

    The government of Goa has made the film tax free for three months. This decision was taken by the state finance ministry, late Thursday.

     

    Directed by Rakeysh Mehra, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag stars Farhan Akhtar, who plays Milkha Singh and Sonam Kapoor.
