Five serial killer movies guaranteed to terrify you

Mumbai: Horror movies are one of the most enthralling genres in mainstream cinema. The 80s gave birth to some legendary horror movies that excel at jump scares and send shivers down your spine, thanks to groundbreaking scriptwriting, cinematography, and performances. With unforgettable characters and spine-chilling scenes, the Saw universe has made a significant contribution to the world of horror, and John “Jigsaw” Kramer has become synonymous with childhood nightmares. As we eagerly await its release, here are five movies you shouldn’t miss before watching Saw X.

       SE7EN – 8.6

It’s one of the most unpredictable thriller movies ever made. The audience was surprised to see Brad Pitt taking a different path in this film as David Mills, a character typically associated with action and drama. This crime thriller was among the most successful movies of 1995 and is still regarded as one of Brad Pitt and Kevin Spacey’s best performances.

       American Psycho – 7.6

American Psycho can arguably be one of the best satires Hollywood has ever seen with Christian Bale’s phenomenal performance as Patrick Bateman. The movie is weaved with black comedy and nuanced parody that has stood with time and notoriously depicted the 80’s hippie culture.

Perfume: The Story of a Murderer – 7.5

The movie is inspired by the famous book named Perfume: The Story of a Murderer. It embraces the Mexican tonality brilliantly, and the film is much darker than presumed from the book. With spine-chilling scenes and the brilliance of cinematography, the film has a fantastic cast who have each performed brilliantly.

       Hannibal – 6.8

The sequel to the iconic movie “Silence of the Lambs” with Anthony Hopkins reprising the character of the infamous Hannibal Lecter is a continuation of the original film as it tries to retain the essence with memorable performances from the cast.

       Friday The 13 – 5.5

Hailed as one of the pioneers of the 80’s horror flicks, this franchise has a different fan base to all the horror film enthusiasts, with the iconic mask being so famous that there are references in many movies for the same. The movie has been popular for generations and remains one of the most iconic horror movies ever made.

If you want to witness a movie where you are terrified yet excited? Then Saw X is just the one for you. Witness John Kramer visiting Mexico at the nearest PVR INOX theatres this Thursday onwards.

Talking about reading Cobweb’s script, fan-favorite Antony Starr said, “At a certain point I turned the page and went ‘Wait What?’ And it was the ‘pump the brakes, record scratch’ moment when I realized Oh My God, everything that I thought was something else and so you know I got really excited about it, and like a rule of thumb for me is, if I’m reading a script, do I read the script and find holes and go Well that doesn’t make sense or do I read a script and go oh, wow, like like, I have ideas around what’s already there. And this is one of those cases so it’s been amazing.”

  • Navot Papushado on collaborating with Michelle Yeoh for Gunpowder Milkshake

Navot Papushado on collaborating with Michelle Yeoh for Gunpowder Milkshake

Mumbai: Oscar winners are just built differently! Lionsgate Play is all set to stream Gunpowder Milkshake on 22 September. With a stellar star cast in tow, including two Oscar winners, the film sees Karen Gillan, Lena Headey, Michelle Yeoh, Angela Bassett and Carla Gugino as highly trained assassins. When Sam is faced with the consequences of a high-risk job going wrong, she reunites with her mother to save an innocent eight-year-old’s life. Packed with action, thrill, and guns, Gunpowder Milkshake puts some of the best showrunners on the front lines. So get ready to cheer on this fierce group of slightly unethical ladies!

Talking about working with Michelle Yeoh, director Navot Papushoda said, “We really worked the actors hard, but they just wanted more. I remember the day Michelle came on set. Everyone was in awe of Michelle. A lot of the action scenes were inspired by her before we even knew she was going to do the film, so it was like we were getting a visit from the queen. You don’t cast Michelle Yeoh just to hold guns, although she does that too. We gave her chains and had her use her fists in fight scenes. She’s incredible, she jumps from a balcony after strangling someone with the chains, lands perfectly and flicks one of his teeth out of her hair. She trained with the stunt people who are her biggest fans. She brought so much experience and really enriched the movie in ways we did not anticipate.”

Gunpowder Milkshake to stream exclusively on Lionsgate Play from September 22nd.

Joel Kinnaman discusses his character and Nicholas Cage in ‘Sympathy for the Devil’

Mumbai: This devil is definitely not in disguise! Sympathy for the Devil is all set to make its digital premiere exclusively on Lionsgate Play in India on 29 September. With Nick Cage and Joel Kinnaman at their emphatic best, Sympathy for the Devil is directed by Yuval Adler and will leave you wanting more.

Talking about the film, Joel Kinneman said, “Sympathy for the Devil is the psychological cat-and-mouse game between the driver and the passenger. I play the driver, Nicolas Cage plays the passenger. The Passenger has a lot of anger built up. He’s out to get the driver but we don’t really know why and we don’t know what’s going on but he kidnaps him in the beginning of the film and over the course of the film we get to watch this game unspool. It’s almost like a cinematic theater play because it’s me and him throughout the whole journey.”

Continuing about his experience, he said, “I’ve done a lot of theater and of course, you’re on stage for hours sometimes and there’s like a concentration that builds between you and there’s this logic that performers understand. And to get to do that with Nick Cage was a career highlight.”

Stay tuned for the thrill of a lifetime with Sympathy For The Devil streaming exclusively on Lionsgate Play this 29 September.
