    History TV18 dominates infotainment genre: BARC week 47

    MUMBAI: The English entertainment genre was dominated by Comedy Central whereas Star Movies replaced Movies Now taking the number one position in the English movies’ genre.

    According to the week 47 ratings data of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India, History TV18 continued to rule the infotainment space. Living Foodz stood at the number one position in the lifestyle genre.

    English Entertainment
    Comedy Central stood at the number one position with 332 Impressions (‘000s) followed by Zee Cafe with 171 Impressions (‘000s) in the second place. The third position was secured by AXN with 147 Impressions (‘000s) while Star World held the fourth position with 134 Impressions (‘000s). Colors Infinity SD took the fifth spot with 67 Impressions (‘000s).

    English Movies

    Star Movies continued to stay in the first place with 2549 Impressions (‘000s) followed by Movies Now with 2443 Impressions (‘000s). Sony Pix with 2339 Impressions (‘000s) grabbed the third position. Zee Studio secured the fourth position with 1785 Impressions (‘000s) whereas HBO with 1569 Impressions (‘000s) was at the fifth place.

    Infotainment
    History TV18 sustained its number one position with 5402 Impressions (‘000s) followed by Discovery Channel at the second spot with 4725 Impressions (‘000s). Animal Planet with 2699 Impressions (‘000s) and Nat Geo Wild with 2332 Impressions (‘000s) took the third and fourth position respectively. National Geographic stood at the fifth position with 2296 Impressions (‘000s).

    Lifestyle
    Living Foodz grabbed the number one position with 1698 Impressions (‘000s). Food Food took the second berth with 1026 Impressions (‘000s) followed by Fox Life with 867 Impressions (‘000s). FYI TV18 with 496 Impressions (‘000s) and TLC with 438 Impressions (‘000s) bagged the fourth and fifth position, respectively.

In the English Entertainment genre, all the channels except Comedy Central witnessed an increase in ratings. According to the week 45 ratings data of Broadcast Audience Research Data (BARC) India, Sony Pix toppled Star Movies thus dominating the English movies space. 

    The channels in both, factual entertainment and lifestyle genre observed mixed ratings. The genres continued to be dominated by Discovery and Living Foodz, respectively.

    Comedy Central with a decrease in the ratings continued at stood the number one position with 378 Impressions (‘000s) as compared to 398 Impressions (‘000s) in week 44. Star World sustained the second spot with 314 Impressions (‘000s) followed by Zee Cafe with 159 Impressions (‘000s) in the third place. The fourth position was secured by AXN with 146 Impressions (‘000s) while FX held the fifth position with 93 Impressions (‘000s). 

    English Movies

    Sony Pix dominated the space with 2979 Impressions (‘000s) followed by Star Movies at the number two position with 2943 Impressions (‘000s). Movies Now stood at the third position with 2770 Impressions (‘000s). HBO with 1516 Impressions (‘000s) and Zee Studio with 1229 Impressions (‘000s) took the number four and five position respectively.

    Discovery channel continued to dominate the space with a hike in ratings from 4769 Impressions (‘000s) in  week 44 as to 5027 Impressions (‘000s) this week.  History TV 18 sustained at the second spot with 4917 Impressions (‘000s). Animal Planet with 2855 Impressions (‘000s) and National Geographic channel with 2567 Impressions (‘000s) took the third and fourth position respectively. Nat Geo Wild stood at the fifth position with 2533 Impressions (‘000s).

    Lifestyle 

    Living Foodz with increased ratings continued at the number one position with 1656 Impressions (‘000s) as compared to 1333 Impressions (‘000s) last week. Fox Life took  the second berth with 740 Impressions (‘000s) followed by Food Food  with 682 Impressions (‘000s). TLC with 579 Impressions (‘000s) stood at the fourth position. FYI TV18 entered the list at the fifth position with 342 Impressions (‘000s).

The English entertainment genre witnessed a decline in the ratings this week. According to the week 44 ratings data of Broadcast Audience Research Data (BARC) India, Star Movies dominated the English movies space while Discovery channel continued to rule the infotainment space. 

    The factual entertainment space also observed an increase in the ratings. Living Foodz stood at the number one position in the lifestyle genre though with a decline in the rating. NDTV Good Times made an exit from this genre, according to this week’s data.
    English Entertainment 
    Comedy Central with an increase in the ratings continued at stood the number one position with 398 Impressions (‘000s) as compared to 325 Impressions (‘000s) in week 43. Star World grabbed the second spot with 228 Impressions (‘000s) followed by Zee Cafe with 120 Impressions (‘000s) in the third place. The fourth position was secured by AXN with 108 Impressions (‘000s) while FX held the fifth position with 89 Impressions (‘000s).

    Star Movies dominated the space with 2876 Impressions (‘000s) followed by Sony Pix at the second position with 2555 Impressions (‘000s). Movies Now took the third place with 2504 Impressions (‘000s).     For all those binge-viewers who like staying back home glued to the television, apart from feasting and gifting, the English entertainment and movie channels have dished out an exclusive line up of shows and movies for the festivities.

    As the Diwali fireworks light up the night sky, viewers will get to amplify this year’s Diwali bonanza. After perusing the available options on channels like Colors Infinity, Comedy Central, Movies Now, Romedy Now, Sony Pix, Zee Café, Zee Studio and VH1, Indiantelevision.com recommends a few shows that viewers can gape at this festive season.

    Colors Infinity

    While everyone indulges in some quintessential Diwali rituals of playing cards and eating King-size meals, the channel will air Queen Helena, played by Elizabeth Hurley, along with Princess Eleanor and Prince Liam starrer The Royals. The viewers can binge-watch the season 1 and season 2 on 29 October and 30 October 10:30 am onwards.

    Comedy Central

    Comedy Central is all set to light up the weekend with an unconventional and amusingly opinionated family of the Carmichaels! The channel will air The Carmichaels Show on 29 and 30 October 4 pm onwards.

    Movies Now

    The channel plans to showcase special properties this Diwali, called Fireworks and Boom Boom Blast. Fireworks began from 24 October and will air movies at 9 pm. The line-up of movies includes Dracula Untold, Fast Five, 2012, Godzilla, Edge Of Tomorrow & Furious 6.

    The other property which started from 3 October ended on 28 October which showcased movies like, Into The Storm, The Darkest Hour, Godzilla, Spiderman 2 and Olympus Has Fallen.

    Romedy Now

    The channel is set to broadcast a new property called Diwali Delights. In this property, popular titled like, The Duff, What if, We’re the Millers, About Time, A Little Bit of Heaven, Blended, Mr. Peabody & Sherman, Endless Love, Begin Again, Cuban Fury, etc will be aired from 24 October to 4 November every Monday to Friday at 11 pm. 

    Sony Pix

    The channel will air Pitch Perfect 2 at 12:59 pm followed by the Lone Ranger at 3:13 pm. Battleship will be aired at 6:12 pm, followed by Pitch Perfect 2 at 8:59 pm. King Kong will telecast at 11:24 pm.

    Zee Café

    The channel will usher into the festivities by 12 am with The Whispers show till 4:45 am followed by America’s Got Talent till 6:15 am. Post that, an hour of Just for Laughs followed by Lethal Weapon up to 9 am. The Big Bang Theory will air till 9:30 am leading to back-to-back episodes of Mysteries of Laura till 12 pm.  Pretty Little Liars will air till 6 pm followed by Lethal Weapon and The Big Bang Theory. The channel will air The Shannara Chronicles at 8pm, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders at 9 pm, Code Black at 10 pm, The Real O’Neals at 11 pm and Two & a Half Men at 11:30 pm.

    Zee Studio is all set to air Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol on 30 October at 4:20 pm followed by The Expendables 2 at 7 pm. The Amazing Spiderman 2 will air at 9 pm whereas Transformers: Age of Extinction will telecast at 11:50 pm.

    Celebrate this Diwali with the Vh1 One in a Billion– Diwali Special. Viewers can watch some of the best music videos that have achieved the milestone of having over a billion views in the digital world. The property will telecast on 31 October at 12 pm and 8 pm.

    MUMBAI: Movies Now is all geared up to air the television premiere of the Daniel Craig starrer James Bond movie Spectre. With Diwali round the corner, the movie will hit the TV screens on 23 October at 1 pm and a repeat telecast at 9 pm.

    Bond fans are also going to be treated to some prizes which are up for grabs during the premiere with a high-decibel marketing campaign. The channel has designed a four-pronged approach to engage with its audience, focusing on on-air, OOH, on-ground and digital mediums.

    It has roped in multiple partners for the premiere which is presented by Amazon, co presented by Huawei, driven by Ford, partnered by Airtel and in association with Raymond. The Experiential Marketing partner is Barcode.

    “James Bond is one of the most iconic characters from Hollywood and Spectre was one of the highest grossing movies in India in 2015. While all television premieres on Movies Now have always received a phenomenal response from viewers and advertisers, as category leaders we are the going the extra mile for Spectre because Bond holds a very special place in the hearts of Indians.
