  • Zee Cafe leads with 2X ratings & Sony dethrones Movies Now

    MUMBAI: Zee Cafe has almost doubled its impressions (623) as compared to last week’s (330), whereas Star World climbed two slots and reached the third position.

    In the English Movies genre, Sony Pix, dethroning Movies Now, jumped to the first position from the BARC India chart’s third slot last week. Travelxp HD dropped out of the Top 5 list in the lifestyle genre and FYI TV18 made its debut directly on the fourth position.

    English Entertainment

    Zee Café    lead at 623 Impressions (000s) sum followed by Comedy Central and Star World at 289 Impressions (000s) sum and 216 Impressions (000s) sum. Colors Infinity SD    at 126 Impressions (000s) sum and AXN    at 93 Impressions (000s) sum respectively bagged the fourth and fifth positions in the genre.

    English Movies

    Sony Pix reigned this week with 3100 Impressions (000s) sum closely chased by MNX    with 2898 Impressions (000s) sum. Movies Now    with 2754 Impressions (000s) sum, Star Movies    with 2541 Impressions (000s) sum and HBO    with 1600 pocketed the third, fourth and fifth positions, respectively.

    Infotainment

    In this genre  History TV 18    emerged the topper with 4453 Impressions (000s) sum followed by Discovery Channel    by a wide margin at 3703 Impressions (000s) sum.

    National Geographic Channel    with 2662 Impressions (000s) sum and Nat Geo Wild    with 2397 Impressions (000s) sum bagged the third and fourth positions, respectively. Animal Planet    with 2111 Impressions (000s) sum appeared last in the list of top five channels.

    Lifestyle

    In this genre, according to BARC week 31’s all-India data, Living Foodz emerged the winner with 1496 Impressions (000s) sum. Fox Life    with 910 Impressions (000s) sum and Food Food    with 682 Impressions (000s) sum respectively bagged the second and third positions. FYI TV18    with 585 Impressions (000s) sum and TLC    with 454 Impressions (000s) sum pocketed the last two of the top five positions.

  • Movies Now’ ‘Home to the Superheroes’ starts on 7 Aug

    MUMBAI: Movies Now’ of Times Network is set to awe its viewers with a spotlight on Superhero films all through the month of August, with the launch of their new festival “Super Squad Homecoming” from 7 August, Monday-Friday at 7pm and 11pm.

    The destination for Hollywood blockbusters, Movies Nowis the first channel to host both the Marvel and DC franchises, making it the real ‘Home to Superheroes’.

    Times Network EVP and head – entertainment cluster and Zoom Vivek Srivastava said, “Marvel and DC franchises have redefined how we view superheroes today and Movies Nowis the first Indian English Movie channel to have both the libraries at the same time. Our objective is to live up to our audience expectation of being the No.1 blockbuster destination in the country and with Movies Now being Home to the Superheroes we will offer our viewers a larger than life experience. Through Super Squad Homecoming, our aim is to further consolidate our position as the undisputed leader.”

    This month-long festival will air movies featuring all the biggest superheroes including Batman, Superman, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Blade and The Avengers. Super Squad Homecoming will showcase some of the biggest Hollywood blockbusters like Avengers: Age of Ultron, Batman, Batman Begins, Ant-Man, Blade, Blade 2, Blade: Trinity, Captain America: The First Avenger, Hulk, Man of Steel, Superman, Superman Returns and Thor making Movies Now the only channel to host all the superheroes under one roof!

    To promote this unique property, Movies Now has designed a campaign that will include TV, OOH, Radio, Cinema, Digital and on-ground activations across bars, college festivals and gyms. The multi-city campaign will be promoted through the month to support this exciting property which further strengthens Movies Now’s positioning as the Home to the Superheroes.

    MUMBAI: Zee Cafe climbed to the first position in the English entertainment genre in BARC India Week 22 ratings with 314 impressions (000s) sum from last week’s second slot with 269 impressions (000s) sum and Movies Now climbed

    Comedy Central HD slipped to the second slot with 219 impressions (000s) sum this week as compared to 277 impressions (000s) sum last week. FX climbed a slot and reached the third rank this week with 203 weekly impressions (000s) as compared to 139 impressions (000s) sum last week.

    While Star World bagged the third slot this week with 187 impressions (000s) sum, Colors Infinity SD, which was at the fifth rank last week, exited the Top 5 channels’ list this week. AXN slipped to the fifth position this week with 149 impressions (000s) sum from the third position last week with 179 impressions (000s) sum.

    English Movies

    Movies Now climbed a slot to the first position with 4122 impressions (000s) sum as compared to last week’s 2201 impressions (000s) sum. Sony Pix also jumped a slot to the second position this week with 2685 impressions (000s) sum as compared to last week’s 1974 impressions (000s) sum.

    Star Movies slipped two slots to the third position with 2295 impressions (000s) sum against last week’s 3253 impressions (000s) sum.

    Movies Now 2 retained its fourth position this week with a decreased 1924 impressions (000s) sum from last week’s 1970 impressions (000s) sum and HBO too stayed put at the fifth position with a reduced 1569 impressions (000s) sum as compared to last week’s 1962 impressions (000s) sum.

    Infotainment

    Discovery Channel jumped a slot to gain the first position this week with 4096 impressions (000s) sum against last week’s 3724 impressions (000s) sum dislodging History TV18 with 4041 impressions (000s) sum.

    National Geographic Channel, Nat Geo Wild and Animal Planet remained at the fourth, fifth and sixth positions, respectively, with 2843, 2374 and 2288 impressions (000s) sum against last week’s 2631, 2614 and 2600 impressions (000s) sum.

    Lifestyle

    Living Foodz dethroned the leader FYI TV18 with 1500 impressions (000s) sum climbing a slot from the last week’s with 1273 impressions (000s) sum. FYI TV18 slipped to the second spot with 1060 impressions (000s) sum against last week’s 1452 impressions (000s) sum.

    Food Food maintained its third position with 787 impressions (000s) sum against 736 impressions (000s) sum last week. TLC jumped a slot with 695  impressions (000s) sum this week from the fifth position with 524 impressions (000s) sum.

    Fox Life slipped a slot to the fifth position with 628 impressions (000s) sum as compared to last week’s 524 impressions (000s) sum.

  • English news genre grows only 10% in Chrome week 20

    MUMBAI: In week 20, the English movies emerged as the number one genre in six metros with a growth of 34.4 per cent opportunity to see (OTS), according to market researcher Chrome Data Analytics. Movies Now led the section with 48.8 per cent OTS.

    Next on the list was the English GEC genre with a growth of 25.1 per cent OTS. Colors infinity emerged as the channel which benefited the most in the genre with 47.7 per cent OTS.

    The sports genre was next in line, which generated positive ratings and was up by 14.3 per cent OTS with DD Sports being the most benefited channel at 94.7 per cent OTS.

    The English news genre in six metros market saw a growth of 10.6 per cent, wherein Loksabha TV recorded a 94.9 per cent OTS in week 20.

    The kids genre across India registered a growth of 10.0 percent with Cartoon Network leading with 84.5 OTS.

    Amongst the losers of week 20, were the religious channels.. The genre dropped by 5.3 per cent in HSM with Sanskar leading the tally with 95.8 per cent OTS.

  • Movies Now kept stakeholders engaged between Goafest sessions, says SVP Vivek Srivastava

    GOA: Times Network was the title sponsor of the much awaited Goafest 2017. The fest that celebrates the outstanding work of the advertising & media industry saw the coming together of creative geniuses on one platform. While innovation and creativity was being celebrated, Times Network was at its creative best when it came to engaging with its viewers through activations for two of their popular movie channels, Movies Now and Movies Now2.

    Commenting on the occasion, Times Network SVP and head of English entertainment cluster & Zoom Vivek Srivastava said, “The activities at Goafest had a single word purpose – engagement. We ensured that our stakeholders were engaged delightfully in between the enlightening sessions. The moment one entered the fest, one could experience Movies Now’s ‘Home To Superheroes’. Now that we have the Marvel and the DC franchises with us, we wanted to give the larger than life experience. The superhero zone does exactly that. Movies Now 2 is an upcoming brand, it has been extremely gratifying for us to receive such a good response to this new age, upscale and edgy brand.”

    Movies Now was ‘Home To Superheroes’ as the avengers squad was ready to take on the world. Sculptures of superheroes like Captain America, Hulk, Thor and Iron Man, fans seemed excited to click pictures with their favourite superheroes.

    The channel also had exciting competitions. The famous ‘Thor Hammer’ was made for people to try and lift. The idea was to say that only Thor can life it. The participant who manages to lift was given goodies and Movies Now merchandise. The other exciting competition that was organized was to solve a jigsaw puzzle while competing to complete the poster of a superhero faster than the other participant. The winners were given Movies Now merchandise.

    Movies Now 2 created a war-zone with zorb fighting. Participants were given a chance to compete individually or in groups to bring out the wild child in them and defeat one another. Because that’s what Movies Now 2 is all about! The winners were awarded with exciting Movies Now 2 merchandise.

  • English Ent channels witness increased ratings except FX

    MUMBAI: HBO dropped out of the Top 5 English Movie channels’ list this week paving way for the entry of Zee Studio. Players in the genre witnessed mixed ratings. Channels in the English Entertainment genre have seen a steep rise in the viewership except FX.

    According to the week 12 ratings data of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India, Discovery continued to dominate the Infotainment genre with an increase in its ratings. The other channels witnessed mixed ratings this week.

    Led by Living Foodz, players in the Lifestyle space observed mixed ratings this week.

    English Entertainment

    Comedy Central with increased ratings continued to dominate the genre with 394 Impressions (‘000s) as to 326 Impressions (‘000s) last week.  Star World stood at the second place with 342 Impressions (‘000s). Zee Cafe took the third position with 340 Impressions (‘000s). Colors Infinity SD was on the fourth place with 279 Impressions (‘000s). FX stood at the fifth rank with 181 Impressions (‘000s).

    English Movies

    Star Movies with a hike in its ratings dominated the genre with 3242 Impressions (‘000s) as compared to 2661 Impressions (‘000s). Movies Now came at the second spot with 2336 Impressions (‘000s). Sony Pix with 2197 Impressions (‘000s) took the third position followed by Movies Now 2 at the fourth position with 1445 Impressions (‘000s). Zee Studio took the fifth place with 1378 Impressions (‘000s).

    Discovery Channel retained the number one position with 6060 Impressions (‘000s) as compared to 5693 Impressions (‘000s) last week. History TV18 with 5257 Impressions (‘000s) took the second place. National Geographic Channel was at the third place with 3163 Impressions (‘000s). Nat Geo Wild stood at the fourth position with 3135 Impressions (‘000s). Animal Planet was at the fifth place with 3079 Impressions (‘000s)

    Living Foodz with hike in its rating continued at the number one position with 1636 Impressions (‘000s). Fox Life stood at the second berth with 1200 Impressions (‘000s) followed by FYI TV18 with 923 Impressions (‘000s). TLC with 877 Impressions (‘000s) and Food Food with 806 Impressions (‘000s) bagged the fourth and fifth position, respectively.

    MUMBAI: Channels in the English Entertainment genre witnessed a substantial increase in the viewership except Comedy Central. According to the week 11 ratings data of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India, players in the English Movies genre observed mixed ratings this week. The genre was led by Star Movies.

    In the Infotainment space, the channels witnessed a decrease in ratings. After a gap of three weeks, Discovery Channel regained the number one position this week.

    MUMBAI: Players in the English Entertainment genre witnessed a substantial increase in the viewership except Zee Cafe. FX made a comeback in the Top 5 English Entertainment genre channels list making way for the exit of AXN from the list.

    According to the week 10 ratings data of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India, players in the English Movies genre observed mixed ratings this week. The genre was led by Movies Now.

    In the Infotainment space, the channels witnessed an increase in ratings except History TV18 which continued to rule the genre.

    Living Foodz continued to dominate the Lifestyle space, with other channels observing mixed ratings this week.

    Comedy Central sustained at the number one position with 497 Impressions (‘000s). Star World was second with 262 Impressions (‘000s). Zee Cafe came down to the third position with 238 Impressions (‘000s). Colors Infinity SD was on the fourth place with 207 Impressions (‘000s). FX stood at the fifth rank with 183 Impressions (‘000s).

    English Movies 

    Movies Now dominated the genre this week with 2907 Impressions (‘000s) followed by Star Movies with 2844 Impressions (‘000s). Sony Pix with 2103 Impressions (‘000s) took the third position followed by HBO at the fourth position with 1857 Impressions (‘000s). Movies Now 2 took the fifth place with 1801 Impressions (‘000s).

    History TV18 sustained the number one position with 5693 Impressions (‘000s) followed by Discovery Channel continued at the second spot with 5466 Impressions (‘000s). National Geographic Channel was at the third place with 3337 Impressions (‘000s). Animal Planet stood at the fourth position with 3093 Impressions (‘000s) while, Nat Geo Wild was at the fifth place with 2918 Impressions (‘000s)

    Living Foodz continued at the number one position with 1528 Impressions (‘000s). Fox Life stood at the second berth with 1152 Impressions (‘000s) followed by Food Food with 793 Impressions (‘000s). TLC with 757 Impressions (‘000s) and FYI TV18 with 722 Impressions (‘000s) bagged the fourth and fifth position, respectively.

  • Zee Cafe leads, FX replaces Colors Infinity in Top 5

    MUMBAI: Colors Infinity this week dropped out of the Top 5 English Entertainment genre channels’ list making way for the entry of FX. The other players observed mixed viewership this week. Zee Café dominated the genre.

    In the English Movies space, Movies Now 2 departed from the Top 5 bracket leading to the entry of Zee Studio. Players in the space also witnessed mixed ratings this week.

    According to the week 8 ratings data of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India, History TV18 was at the number one position in the infotainment genre.

    Living Foodz continued to dominate the Lifestyle space, with the channels observing decrease in its ratings this week except TLC.

    Zee Café toppled Star World taking the first position with 275 Impressions (‘000s). Star World came to the second place with 232 Impressions (‘000s). Comedy Central sustained its third position with 230 Impressions (‘000s) whereas FX took the fourth place with 127 Impressions (‘000s). AXN continued at the fifth rank with 113 Impressions (‘000s).

    Star Movies dominated the genre this week with 2639 Impressions (‘000s) followed by Movies Now with 2636 Impressions (‘000s). Sony Pix with 1883 Impressions (‘000s) grabbed the third position followed by HBO at the fourth position with 1556 Impressions (‘000s). Zee Studio took the fifth place with 1320 Impressions (‘000s).

    History TV18 hoped to the first spot with 5567 Impressions (‘000s).  Discovery Channel took the second spot with 4897 Impressions (‘000s). Animal Planet was at the third spot with 3082 Impressions (‘000s). National Geographic Channel stood at the fourth position with 2917 Impressions (‘000s) while, Nat Geo Wild was at the fifth place with 2851 Impressions (‘000s)

    Living Foodz sustained its number one position with decrease in its ratings from 1599 Impressions (‘000s) in week 7 to 1383 Impressions (‘000s) this week. Fox Life stood at the second berth with 946 Impressions (‘000s) followed by FYI TV18 with 796 Impressions (‘000s). TLC with 643 Impressions (‘000s) and Food Food with 631 Impressions (‘000s) bagged the fourth and fifth position, respectively.

  • Star World dominates English Entertainment, Discovery regains no.1 spot

    MUMBAI: Star World dominated the English Entertainment genre followed by Zee Cafe. Players in the space witnessed a significant hike in the ratings this week.

    According to the week 7 ratings data of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India, Discovery Channel was at the number one position in the infotainment genre.

    Living Foodz continued to dominate the Lifestyle space, with the channels observing mixed ratings this week.

    Star World hopped to the number one position from its second place last week with 269 Impressions (‘000s). Zee Cafe was at the second place with 222 Impressions (‘000s). Comedy Central stood at the third position with 193 Impressions (‘000s) whereas Colors Infinity SD took the fourth place with 111 Impressions (‘000s). AXN continued at the fifth rank with 72 Impressions (‘000s).

    English Movies 

    Movies Now with increased ratings retained the number one position this week with 2701 Impressions (‘000s) as compared to 2315 Impressions (‘000s) in week 6 followed by Sony Pix with 2430 Impressions (‘000s). Star Movies with 2077 Impressions (‘000s) grabbed the third position followed by HBO at the fourth position with 1531 Impressions (‘000s).

    Movies Now 2 took the fifth place with 1305 Impressions (‘000s).

    Discovery Channel dominated the genre with 4874 Impressions (‘000s).  History TV 18 took the second spot with 4288 Impressions (‘000s).
