    BARC week 31: Doraemon was no 1 program; Nick still lead the genre

    MUMBAI: Doraemon has dethroned kids television long time favourite Motu Patlu and claimed the number one spot for itself as per Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India’s all India (U+R) data for week 31 in NCCS All 4-14 Individuals category.

    Doraemon : Nobita’s Little Space War has acquired 641 (000s sums) impressions; beating Nick’s Motu Patlu In Alien World – Part I by only 3 points, as the latter has scored 638 (000s sums) impressions.

    The thin margin couldn’t secure Hungama the first spot in the top ranked channel list in the genre. Viacom 18’s Nick maintained the most watched channel title with 67400(000s sums) in spite of a slight drop in ratings from the previous week’s performance.

    Turner International’s Cartoon Network was yet again the second channel in the list securing 59786 (000s sums) impressions- a drop from the previous week’s 63251(000s sums).

    Its sister channel Pogo TV locked a viewership rating of 56721(000 sums) securing itself the third spot on the list followed by Hungama from Disney India on the fourth spot with 53475(000s sums) impressions. The list shared by BARC India concludes with Disney Channel at the fifth spot with 45985(000s sums) impressions. Pogo TV, Hungama, and Disney Channel showed some improvement in viewership ratings in Week 30.

    The top five most watched program list in the genre was lead by Doraemon : Nobita’s Little Space, as mentioned above.Motu Patlu In Alien World – Part I was close at heel on the second spot.

    Pogo TV’s Chhota Bheem Aur Krishna grabbed the third spot on the list with 567(000s sums) impressions, followed by its sister channel Cartoon Network’s Bhoot Raja Aur Ronnie with 477(000s sums) impressions on the fourth spot.

    Pogo TV’s Chhota Bheem Aur Chhalchhaaya was the fifth most watched program in the genre with 451(000s sums) impressions. Over all the genre saw a dip in viewership as compared to week 30.

    The channel has bagged 67139 (000s sums) impressions showing a drop in its ratings as compared to week 29 Nick is followed by Turner International’s Cartoon Network by securing 63251 (000s sums) impressions.

    Its sister channel Pogo TV has locked a viewership rating of 50610(000 sums) securing it the third spot on the list, followed by Hungama from Disney India on the fourth spot with 45578 (000s sums) impressions. The list shared by BARC India concludes with Disney Channel at the fifth spot with 45025(000s sums) impressions.

    When it comes to the top five most watched programs in the genre, Motu Patlu has maintained its stronghold in the genre dominating three out of the top five spots.

    Nick’s Motu Patlu In Carnival Island – Part 1 leads the chart with 827 (000s sums), followed by Motu Patlu 36 Ghantey Race Against Time Part – I from the same franchise grabbing the second spot with with 640 (000s sums) impressions.

    With a slightly lower ratings of 559 (000s sums) Motu Patlu in Wonderland was third most watched show in the category . CN’s Lights, Camera, Roll No. 21 Kris In Bollywood made an impressive entry back on the top five program list at number four, with 534(000 sums) impressions.

    Hungama’s Doraemon The Movie Nobita The Explorer Bow! Bow! claimed the fifth spot in the program list with 508(000s sums) impressions. Overall there was a significant drop in total viewership in the genre.

    The channel has bagged 81167 (000s sums) as opposed to 86062 (000s sums) impressions last week showing a drop in its ratings, Nick is followed by Turner International’s Cartoon Network which has jumped from fourth to second position by securing 68299 (000s sums) impressions from 48093 (000s sums) in week 26.

    Cartoon Network is followed by Hungama from Disney India on the third spot with 57530 (000s sums) impressions and Pogo TV 56313 (000s sums) impressions giving it the fourth rank on the list.

    These are followed closely at heel by Disney Channel which has seen a significant drop in its viewership from 61691 (000s sums) last week to 52522(000s sums) this week.

    When it comes to the top five most watched programs in the genre, Motu Patlu and Chhota Bheem has yet again proved itselves as genre favourites.

    Turner International’s Cartoon Network was at the fourth spot with 48093 (000s sums) last week, while its sister channel Pogo TV was the fifth most watched channel in the genre with a rating of 44091(000s sums). It had recovered its viewership ratings marginally.

    Among the top five most watched programs in the genre, Nick’s Motu Patlu In Double Trouble lead the chart with 1160(000s sums), followed by Disney Channel’s Doraemon Movie: Galaxy Super Express with 778(000s sums) impressions making it a far second.

    Motu Patlu Deep Sea Adventure secured the third spot with 759 (000s sums) followed by more from the franchise at fourth and fifth spot.     MUMBAI: Viacom18 and Turner India have announced a strategic tie-up that will see Turner’s popular kids shows play on Viacom18’s over-the-top service Voot.

    With this deal, Voot will add to its already existing powerhouse list of close to 100 characters that cut through broadcast affiliation. Shows likeThe Powerpuff Girls, Ben10, Roll No. 21 and Chotta Bheem alongside Dora, Spongebob, Motu Patlu, Shiva and Pokemon are among the few.

    Commenting on the tie-up, Turner India South Asia senior vice president and managing director Siddharth Jain said, “We at Turner are dedicated in engaging consumers and collaborators in new ways to develop immersive worlds that enable our fans to experience our brands, franchises and content wherever, whenever and however they like. The collaboration with Viacom18 is a strategic move towards achieving this objective of being where our fans are and we know from our own New Generations 2016 research that 71% of today’s plurals are mobile phone users and 30% of them are on surfing the internet.”

    Viacom18 group CEO Sudhanshu Vats said, “Online kids content is one of the major white spaces that exists in the country today. Through a dedicated offering within VOOT, called VOOT Kids we had started our journey to create the largest online destination for kids’ content in India. This vision saw us aggregate content from both within our network brand Nick and outside, to launch with over ~7000videos of kids content.     MUMBAI: Maintaining its lead in the kids’ genre, Viacom 18’s Nick continued to retain its top position according to Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India’s all India (U+R) data for week 24 in NCCS All 4-14 Individuals category.

    The channel has bagged 89348 (000s sums) impressions as opposed to 95275 (000s sums) impressions in the last week, followed by Hungama with 71472 (000s sums) and Disney Channel at the third spot with 67889 (000s sums) ratings.

    Turner International’s Pogo TV was at the fourth spot after a significant drop in viewership ratings from 55133 (000s sums) to 45064 (000s sums) this week, while Sonic Nickelodeon was the fifth most watched channel in the genre with a rating of 35465 (000s sums). It recovered its viewership ratings marginally.

    Among the top five most watched programs in the genre, Motu Patlu 36 Ghantey Race Against Time lead the chart with 985 (000s sums), followed by more from the same franchise. Motu Patlu In Double Trouble with 903 (000s sums) impressions and Motu Patlu Aur Khazaane Ki Race 716 (000s sums) impressions took up the second and third spot in the list respectively.

    Motu Patlu’s uncontested reign over the top five program’s list for three consecutive weeks was finally broken in week 24 by Pakdam Pakdai and Doraemon taking up the fourth and fifth spots.

    While Pakdam Pakdai Doggy Don Vs. Billiman from Nickelodeon secured the fourth spot with 680 (000s sums), Doraemon The Movie Nobita The Explorer Bow! Bow! from Hungama came fifth with 677(000s sums) impressions.

    Over all, kids genre in television has seen a loss in viewership in week 24 as compared to the last week.
