    WWE: Orlando Citrus Bowl to host Wrestlemania®

    MUMBAI : Florida governor Rick Scott, Orlando mayor Buddy Dyer, Orange County mayor Teresa Jacobs, the Central Florida Sports Commission and WWE  have announced that the Orlando Citrus Bowl will host WWE’s pop-culture extravaganza, WrestleMania 33, on Sunday, 2 April, 2017. 
    “We’re excited to bring this event back to Orlando. Florida set a tourism record by welcoming 105 million visitors in 2015, and WWE will help bring even more visitors to Florida in 2017.” said Florida governor Rick Scott. ”We’re excited WWE once again chose Florida to hostWrestleMania.”

    “The city of Orlando is extremely proud to have WrestleMania return to the Citrus Bowl,” said Orlando mayor Buddy Dyer.  “WrestleMania 33 will proudly display to the world the incredible reconstruction that recently went into transforming the iconic Citrus Bowl.”

    “We are delighted that WWE has chosen Central Florida as the host destination for its signature event,” said Orange County mayor Teresa Jacobs, “The week-long series of events will provide a significant economic boost to our region, while giving visitors a chance to experience Orlando’s world-class attractions.”

    “Orlando is the home to so many family-friendly, global attractions so it’s only fitting that it once again plays host to WrestleMania,” said WWE chairman & CEO Vince McMahon. “On behalf of everyone at WWE, thank you Governor Scott, mayor Dyer and mayor Jacobs for bringing WrestleMania back to the Citrus Bowl.”

    WrestleMania is more than just a one-day event; it’s a week-long celebration that will stretch throughout the Orlando region.  In addition to WrestleMania 33, other activities will include: WrestleMania Axxess – WWE’s four-day interactive fan festival at the Orange County Convention Center; the 2017 WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at the Amway Center; Monday Night Raw® at the Amway Center; Be a STAR® anti-bullying rallies; hospital visits and other community outreach initiatives designed to give back to the host community. The event will be broadcast live on WWE Network and pay-per-view in more than 180 countries.  For four consecutive years, WrestleMania has generated more than $100 million in economic impact for its host region.  This year, WrestleMania 32 takes place Sunday, 3 April  at AT&T Stadium in Texas.

    WWE opens 2007 with strong ratings in US

    MUMBAI: World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has announced that its TV ratings in the US started off this year in a positive manner. It achieved its highest household deliveries of the current season on both Monday Night Raw on USA Network and Friday Night SmackDown on The CW.

    On 1 January, Raw’s feature of John Cena versus Kevin Federline delivered 3,564,000 TV households, its highest performance of the season, and the largest household delivery since August 21, 2006. Raw it says was the number one primetime cable programme during the first week of the year among households, total viewers, Male Teens (M12-17) and Men 18-34. Raw also posted season high ratings among Males 6-11, Persons 6-11, Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54.

    SmackDown on 5 January, 2007, delivered 3,371,000 TV households, its highest performance in nearly a year and the highest since joining the CW network. SmackDown WWE says was the number one primetime program on television Friday night among Male Teens (M12-17) and Total Teens (P12-17), and the top rated broadcast program among Males 6-11. SmackDown made CW the number one broadcast network among Males 6-11, Males 12-17, Males 12-34, Males 18-24, Males 18-34, Persons 6-11, Persons 12-17 and Persons 12-34.

    SmackDown posted its highest rating among total teens (persons 12-17) since June 23, 2005 and highest among female teens (females 12-17) since November 13, 2003. SmackDown also achieved its highest delivery of the season among Persons 12-34.
