MUMBAI: Channel V is planning to launch a new fiction show titled Ishq Unplugged.

The youth show is a love story between two contestants of a singing reality show. Scheduled to release on 7 March 2016, it will air from Monday to Friday at 7:30 pm.

The romance between two completely opposite characters plays out on the backdrop of the reality show, which they want to win for their own reasons.

Main leads of the show are played by Mohit Gaur and Shruti Prakash who essay the roles of Mandy and Antara respectively. Mandy’s character hails from a middle class background from Delhi. Even though he is an exceptional singer, Mandy faces opposition from his family to fulfill his lifelong dream of becoming a famous singer in the entertainment world. Although Mandy is deserving of success, his notions to achieving stardom is rife with trying any means to get what he wants, by hook or by crook.

Antara, on the other hand, faces a different circumstance. Daughter of a very famous singer, she is also blessed with a beautiful voice. Her Mother wants Antara to follow her footsteps rather than create her own identity. This competition is the stage to launch her career.

Speaking about the show, a Star spokesperson said, “Like dance, music and reality shows are a big pull for the youth; this is the first time we have a fiction show, which is a potent combination of music and romance on the backdrop of a reality show. With a fair share of singing and performances along with drama, this unique offering is going to something fresh for the youth to savour and enjoy.”

The channel has chalked out a marketing strategy to support the show with high decibel promotions across multiple platforms.

Saaibaba Telefilms launches talent management company

MUMBAI: The Gajendra Singh helmed Saaibaba Telefilms has launched a new talent management vertical called Artist4Forty, which aims to provide a platform to budding musical talent by imparting training and mentorship.

Speaking to Indiantelevision.com, Saaibaba Telefilms chairman and managing director Gajendra Singh said, “There is a talent pool beyond film musicians, who create their own music, versions and compositions. I have been in the industry for twenty years now. I know this country very well in terms of music and the idea behind creating this was to bring in new talent. Originality and purity are the key words that define Artist4Forty.”

The idea behind launching Artist4Forty was to provide a grooming platform for budding talent. Saaibaba Telefilms has been known for giving new talent to the music industry for years now. Through the Artist4Forty platform, artists can now release their unheard original compositions.

The company has implemented a robust training structure that will not only improve artists’ vocal skills but also elevate them with a specially designed personality development program, while building their career path.

Artist4Forty has adopted various artists including Rituraj Mohanty, Mohit Gaur, Mansheel Gujral, Pardeep Singh Sran, Dipti Sharma, Suraj Biswas and Mohan Rathore to mentor and train them into becoming the next generation stars of the Indian music industry.

Elaborating the purpose and working of Artist4Forty, Singh said, “We are looking for artists, who can come up with their own music and composition. The company is relentlessly engaged in identifying and grooming raw talent from across India. Our team is travelling in all the cities and towns, auditioning and shortlisting talent. We are trying to give very different music that can connect with people and which could define India.”

Additionally, Saaibaba Telefilms is also looking at venturing into film production sometime next year. Talking about the same, Singh said, “Saaibaba Telefilms has always been a content driven company and we don’t want to end up doing anything ineffective. We have shortlisted a couple of things for next year. It’s too early to say anything but in early 2016, we will have one of our films going on floors.”

The company has produced many music reality shows including Music Ka Maha Muqqabla, which first aired on 19 December, 2009 on Star Plus. It aimed to bring a new format to music reality shows in India, which is based on teams rather than individuals and Singh is keen to bring back the format on Indian television albeit on a bigger scale. “I think it was a fantastic show unlike any other reality shows. It wasn’t restricted to contestants only but was more like open platform where singers came and connected with the audience. Music Ka Maha Muqqabla is one show, which I would like to bring back on a much bigger scale and better than before. We might even tweak the format,” he informed.
