    11 Years. 250 Episodes. 1 “Modern Family”. Only on Star World

    MUMBAI: This year, the Emmy-winning comedy series, Modern Family will wrap up with the finale season, and fans will have to say goodbye to the Dunphy-Pritchet-Tucker family. But here comes Star World, all set to mark the end of a comedy era by hosting re-runs of the all 11 seasons of Modern Family for the first time on Indian Television. The series which has been considered as one of the most seminal and iconic comedies of present times, will start airing on Star World starting 16th March every Monday to Friday at 8PM!

    The show stars some of the glamorous personalities who went on to become household names like Sofia Vergara and Sarah Hyland. Also starring Julie Bowen, Ty Burell, Jesse Tyrel Ferguson, Ed O’Neill, Eric Stonestreet, Ariel Winter, Nolan Gould and Rico Rodriguez, the family sitcom revolves around an extended family who deal with their kids, quirky spouses, and jobs in their own unique ways, often falling into hilarious situations. A 21st century comedy, telling the story of a giant family that includes a gay couple, an interracial couple, divorce, adoption – basically everything, finally comes to an end but in its beautiful entirety will surely continue to live on. 

    Created by Christopher Lloyd and Steven Levitan, this mockumentary style comedy, since its launch, has received immense acclaim over the years and remained popular and relevant to its audiences. The show, known to be all-inclusive and unconventional, went for a change of pace from the typical sitcom fare with its twists – voice given to LGBTQ characters and adaptation of the documentary style of filmmaking. With comparisons to The Office and Parks and Recreation, Modern Family matured to joining the squad of some legendary comedy TV shows of all time – Seinfeld, The Simpsons, F.R.I.E.N.D.S, to name a few. Bringing back plenty of fond reminiscing, this groundbreaking sitcom, over its 11-season run earned 75 Emmy nominations and 22 Emmy Awards, and a TV record with its five straight best comedy Emmys.

    The show’s 11th and final season is currently airing on Star World, new episodes every Saturday at 7PM. And if you are one to take the trip down memory lane, then go and tune in to Star World and watch Modern Family (all seasons) airing every Monday – Friday at 8PM, starting 16th March.

    Anil Kapoor acquires ‘Prison Break’ rights; moots Indian version

    NEW DELHIi: Versatile actor Anil Kapoor, who is currently busy finishing the second series of his television series 24, has acquired the rights of another American TV series Prison Break.

    The actor, who had earlier taken the rights of Modern Family, said he normally went with a gut feeling that Indians would love a story when he acquires it to adapt it to Indian situation.

    Prison Break, of which the fifth season is about to commence, revolves around two brothers. One has been sentenced to death for a crime he did not commit while the other devises an elaborate plan to help him escape and clear his name. The actor said he had only acquired the rights of the first season.

    In a statement, Kapoor said: “The show is about sibling love. It has just the right amount of emotions and of course some mind blowing action. In the past, films like Do Aankhen Barah Haath and Umar Qaid, which revolved around jailbreak, have been appreciated by the audience.”

    The actor-producer is not yet sure whether he will be on the show himself as he says he is concentrating on the second season of 24 which had been telecast on Colors in the first season.

    MUMBAI: Starting 23 September, Star World Premiere HD will be airing 23 new and returning shows in India at the same time as their US telecast.  

     

    With this, the channel aims to offers viewers in India an option against illegal downloads and endless waits by giving them the ‘day and date – HD only’ proposition.

     

    The channel’s fall line up includes latest seasons of shows like Downton Abbey, Modern Family, Homeland as well as The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

     

    Additionally, the channel will also air returning seasons of shows like How To Get Away With Murder (S2), The Blacklist (S3),Fresh Off The Boat (S2), The Walking Dead (S6), Sleepy Hollow (S3), Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (S3), The Goldbergs(S3), Last Man On Earth (S2) and Black-ish (S2).

     

    The channel will also premiere the Priyanka Chopra starrer Quantico along with shows like Minority Report, Scream Queens,Bastard Executioner, Rosewood, The Grinder, Grandfathered and Life in Pieces.

    MUMBAI: This July, Star World Premiere HD is all set to unveil an exciting set of international shows in India. Home to over 50 of the latest and biggest shows every year, the channel will be extending the offering with 3 highly anticipated shows this July – a groovy new series – Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll, an exciting medical comedy – Royal Pains, and Season 2 of the breakout thrilling series – The Strain.

     

    Starting 10thJuly, the country’s only premium HD channel will bring Royal Pains, a story about a young doctor who seems to have it all until he loses it thanks to his principles, and ironically, ends up becoming an on-call doctor for the rich and famous of the Hamptons!

     

    The latest entrant creating waves in the international television world – Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll – is set to premiere in India exclusively on Star World Premiere HD, starting 22nd July. The comedy centers on Johnny Rock, a middle-aged rock star who desperately wants to be rich and famous. Actor-writer-producer Denis Leary, of The Amazing Spiderman fame, plays the lead in this series, also starring John Corbett and Elaine Hendrix.

     

    Viewers will be treated to a nail-biting experience with the premiere of the latest season of last year’s breakout success, The Strain. Launching on 31st July, The Strain is a high-concept thriller focusing on Dr. Ephraim Goodweather and his team from the Center for Disease Control in New York City, who are investigating a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism.

    MUMBAI: Star World, India’s preferred English General Entertainment Channel, is bringing the award-winning sitcom ‘Modern Family’ for its Indian viewers this June. This show has the unique distinction of having received 21 wins and 46 nominations from the Primetime Emmy Awards in its six year run. Starting 22 June, Monday to Friday at 8 pm, viewers will get a chance to catch up on the whole comedy series week-on-week.

     

    The ‘mockumentary’ style show is centred on the lives of patriarch Jay Pritchett and his large, dysfunctional family. Constantly appreciated by critics and audiences alike, this show has been especially noted for its writing and acting prowess. The series stars famous actors Ed O’Neill, Sofia Vergara, Ty Burrell and Julie Bowen among several other talented cast.

    MUMBAI: Star World is all set to air season four of Homeland for the first time on its Weekend Binge slot.

     

    Every weekend the line-up of the shows include latest seasons and series premieres of shows like Two and A Half Men, New Girl, Modern Family, Fresh off the Boat, Black-ish, Agents of SHIELD and The Bridge amongst others.

     

    Homeland season four will air this weekend from 12 noon onwards on Star World.

     

    Showtime and Fox 21 Television Studios have announced today that season five of Homeland will shoot on location in Germany, becoming the first American television series to shoot a full season entirely in Germany.

     

    Produced by Fox 21 Television Studios, season five of Homeland picks up two years after Carrie Mathison’s (Claire Danes) ill-fated tenure as Islamabad station chief. Struggling to reconcile her guilt and disillusionment with years of working on the front lines in the “war on terror,” Carrie finds herself in a self-imposed exile in Berlin, estranged from the CIA and working for a private security firm.

     

    Developed for American television by Alex Gansa and Howard Gordon, Homeland is based on the original Israeli series Prisoners of War by Gideon Raff. Along with Gansa, Gordon and Raff, the executive producers for season five are Alexander Cary, Chip Johannessen, Meredith Stiehm, Patrick Harbinson, Lesli Linka Glatter, Avi Nir and Ran Telem.

     

    In India, the series is set to premiere season five this fall on Star World Premiere HD, at the same time as its US premiere.

    MUMBAI: Star World is all set to launch its new Weekend Binge slot from 25 April.

     

    Weekend Binge is a property, which is designed to bring a new TV viewing experience to Indian viewers. To take this innovation to the next level, Star World has created an integrated marketing campaign with the channel’s first-ever mascot – Binge Baba, to add fun and excitement to the campaign.

     

    Keeping in mind the growing need for uninterrupted entertainment, Star World Weekend Binge will give viewers a chance to watch all seasons of television’s popular series at one go, thereby showcasing more than 1200 hours of shows and premiering more than 30 shows across 52 weekends for its viewers.

    The mascot Binge Baba is positioned as the epitome of an indulgent lifestyle. As the brand’s voice, Binge Baba will spread the message of ‘indulgence is good’ every weekend. The channel is leading all marketing efforts for the property through Binge Baba.

     

    With the support of various engagement activities for this flagship property, multi-dimensional efforts have been initiated across cities like Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore.
