    Mumbai: Times Network, India’s premium broadcast network, has elevated Mihir Bhatt to business head of Times Influence and managing editor of Times Network. 

    In his new capacity, Bhatt will continue to lead the editorial charge for large scale strategic collaborated content on the network and grow the already buoyant content solutions business with overall P&L responsibility of Times Influence – a strategic content thinktank that operates across the network, developing award winning IPs and content solutions. 

    During his tenure at Times Network, Bhatt has led large-scale IPs including India Economic Conclave – the largest in the genre, Times Now Summit, Amazing Indians, Leaders of Tomorrow and Navbharat Navnirman Manch amongst others. A seasoned media professional with over two decades of experience in editorial and business roles, he has closely tracked corporate India, government policies, domestic & global economies and has also been instrumental in launching leading branded content initiatives in the broadcast industry. 

     With evolution in formats, platforms, consumer preferences and ROI demands, large scale IPs & collaborated content have emerged as critical growth drivers for digital publishers and broadcasters, leading to the intensified focus at Times Network.

    Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman to launch ET Now Swadesh

    Mumbai: Times Network’s Hindi business news channel ET Now Swadesh will be inaugurated by finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on 4 October.

    The channel has unveiled its editorial team and programming line-up ahead of the launch.

    The editorial team of ET Now Swadesh will comprise a team of seasoned financial and business journalists including Mihir Bhatt, Pradeep Pandya, Kavita Thapliyal, and Priyanka Anand, led by Nikunj Dalmia as managing editor. ET Now Swadesh will offer content that empowers, engages, and educates viewers with financial knowledge to weave their growth into India’s success story. The channel leads with a powerful proposition ‘Badho Desh Ke Saath’ and promises to be a catalyst of growth, energising every discerning Indian to rise with India, said the statement.

    The channel will launch a slew of interactive and engaging content that will aid viewers with money-making ideas every five minutes, detailed analysis and perspectives on stocks and commodities, investment opportunities, and personalised portfolio recommendations with insights and guidance from industry stalwarts like Nilesh Shah and Madhu Kela.

    The channels morning time band between 8 a.m and 4 p.m brings nine distinct shows including “Khara Sauda,” “10 Ka Bazaar,” “Your Stocks,” “Commodity Now,” “F&O Junction,” “Midcap Masti,” “Corporate Connections,” “Stocks Fatafat,” and “Closing Sauda,” which will dedicatedly cover business and markets.

    The morning primetime market show “Khara Sauda” beginning at 8 a.m will be hosted by Nikunj Dalmia, Mihir Bhatt, Pradeep Pandya, and Priyanka Anand. The show will offer viewers an in-depth analysis of the current market trends, the latest buzz in dealing rooms, insights on what brokerages are betting on, but also educate them on financial savings and creating long-term wealth and investments. The show will also have AI-dominated actionable ideas for the viewers and will feature the top voices from Dalal Street and India Inc.

    In the evening starting at 8 p.m, the channel will air the show “Swadesh Hour” hosted by Nikunj Dalmia and Kavita Thapliyal. The one-hour special will capture all the key information and news of the day.

    “While the pandemic presented unprecedented challenges worldwide, it has undoubtedly been an agent of radical change, to rethink and reimagine businesses and lives,” said Times Network managing director and chief executive officer MK Anand. “New streams including digital services and payments, financial and investment tools have emerged as the definitive factors that will pave the path to progress.”

    “ET Now Swadesh will pioneer a new revolution of financial empowerment and progress for crores of Hindi speaking viewers,” he added.

    The network will roll out a high decibel marketing campaign in key Hindi speaking markets and will run a month-long promotion across TV, outdoor, print, trade, social media, and leading digital platforms. The network’s outdoor promotion spans over 120 key locations in Delhi and Mumbai. The network is set to splash its print ads across leading Hindi, English, and financial dailies along with a series of trade promotions and engagement. A special brand film capturing the genesis of the channel will be released on the launch day across network channels and social media platforms.

    MUMBAI: Times Network, part of India’s largest media conglomerate, The Times Group, today announced the appointment of Mihir Bhatt as chief editor – IPs. In his new role, Mihir will spearhead efforts to create unique and content-rich offerings on all IPs of the network, in addition to his editorial and anchoring responsibilities at ET NOW. 
    Based in Noida, Bhatt will report to ET NOW managing editor Sandeep Gurumurthi.

    Commenting on the appointment, Gurumurthi said, “We are delighted to have Mihir join us. The knowledge, expertise and experience that Mihir brings on board will further strengthen our IP offerings as a network. Having led an editorial team in a national channel, his understanding of content that influences, impacts, engages and inspires is very strong. Mihir is also a seasoned business news anchor and will enrich the star-studded anchor line up of ET NOW.”

    Speaking on his new role, Bhatt said, “I am excited to be a part of the Times Network team.     Mihir joins Times Network after a successful stint at Zee Business, where he led the editorial team. He was instrumental in successfully creating marquee content properties for Zee Business such as Sensex Ka Sultan, Hunt for India’s Smart Investor, Market Excellence Awards and Zee Business Bull Run to name a few. 

    As part of his editorial responsibilities, he designed and executed large-scale editorial activities for Zee Business such as GST Campaign, Gen Next Budget, Ministerial Conclave and Tycoons@Dalal Street.

The channel was initially headed by Amish Devgan, who decided to move away after serving for 14 years. It was then led by Zee Media Corporation’s then CEO for content Samir Ahluwalia,who was re-designated as the editor of the channel in June 2016.

    After Devgan’s exit, the channel was looked after by Ahluwalia and deputy editor Mihir Bhatt. Accused in the case of Rs 100-crore extortion from industrialist Naveen Jindal, Ahluwalia called it a day in Zee Media in September. Then, the search for Zee Business head continued, until this development.

    Sources told indiantelevision.com that Zee reportedly tried to reach out to few media experts namely, Sanjay Pugalia, Mehraj Dube, Amish Devgan and Pranjal Sharma to take up the role.

    While Pugalia is with Raghav Bahl’s The Quint as the president and editorial director of both The Quint and Bloomberg Quint, Dube is Essel Group Corp Resources’ deputy vice president. Devgan has taken up the role of the executive editor at IBN7 whereas Sharma is an economic analyst and writer contributing to BusinessWorld magazine as its consulting editor and anchors ‘The Appointment’ show on Zee network.

    It remains to be seen who will head the channel…

After the resignation of Dr. Subhash Chandra as director and non-executive chairman of the company, it is learnt that Zee Business’ Samir Ahluwalia has been relieved from his role as CEO content.

    He was re-designated as the editor for Zee Business about a month ago soon after the news of Amish Devgan stepping down broke.

    Ahluwalia has deep expertise in content and editorial understanding. His main focus was on increasing the channel’s stickiness with the viewers and in turn, increasing traction with advertisers. He has been a part of Zee News from the past 19 years and was elevated as the CEO content and VP (business) in 2014 of Zee Media.

    Apart from this, Zee Media is planning to further continue with its strategy to promote the phalanx of on-air faces which includes Gaurav Agarwal, Mihir Bhatt and Virendra Kumar. And a new a gameplan is being drawn up to give its growth an impetus.
