    MUMBAI: Sundar Kondur has announced his move to Bennett Coleman & Co Ltd. (The Times of India), taking on the role of director – Times Experiences. This appointment marks a significant shift for Kondur, a seasoned sales professional, into the realm of experiential events, where he promises to weave “logic of numbers with magic of ideas,”.

    Kondur’s ascent within the Times group is notable. He previously held senior positions, including senior vice president and regional head – south, where he consistently delivered strong sales performance. 

    Before his tenure at the Times group, Kondur held a vice president – advertising sales role at Kasturi & Sons, Ltd., where he was responsible for national sales at The Hindu. There, he is credited with achieving record revenue growth and recruiting a substantial number of new advertisers, contributing to the company’s turnaround.

    His earlier stint at the Times group included a long tenure as vice president and response head, where he oversaw advertising sales for various publications, including Vijay Karnataka and Bangalore Mirror. He also served as publisher and general manager at Mid Day, launching the Bangalore edition and driving significant revenue growth.

    Mumbai: Varsha Ojha has been appointed as the head of marketing and communications at Shemaroo Entertainment.

    Varsha will take the lead in end-to-end marketing initiatives as part of her new position at the company. She will be in charge of brand strategy, digital marketing, and communication across all media channels.

    Varsha comes on board with almost two decades of rich experience across the entire gamut of the media industry. Previously, she was the head of marketing and digital at Radio City and Mid-Day. She has launched several industry-first initiatives and been the recipient of numerous awards for her campaigns. Varsha will be taking up the marketing responsibilities from Rahul Mishra as he has taken up a new role in Shemaroo heading the web3.0 initiatives of the organisation.

    Neville Bastawalla to take over as marketing head of SPN India sports cluster

    MUMBAI: Sony Pictures Network (SPN) has made some internal changes and handed the responsibility of heading marketing for the sports cluster to Neville Bastawalla, a source close to the development informed Indiantelevision.com. He is currently the head of marketing of the English cluster at the company.

    Prior to SPNI, he was the AVP and head marketing Hindi movies cluster at Star India where he spent close to three years. 

    Bastawalla is a die-hard marketing professional with over 19 years of multi brand experience. He has been a successful brand custodian across brands in various categories and has been responsible for charting the direction and launching/managing growth for the brands basis research, consumer insights, innovative marketing and communication strategies.

    He strongly believes in the power of innovation in the marketing place and has been practicing “the innovation theory” successfully across brands.

    He started his carrier with the DDB India’s Mudra communications as an account manager. After DDB India, he did stints at a couple of other media organisations, including Contract Advertising, Walt Disney Company, Nickelodeon and Mid Day before joining SPNI.  

    Recently, SPN India’s head of marketing and On-Air Promotions (OAP)- sports Kedar Teny left the organisation.

    Bastawalla holds a masters degree in management studies (marketing) from University of Mumbai.

  • Mid-day meals: CNBC Awaaz & Akshay Patra to create awareness

    MUMBAI: Hindi business news channel CNBC–Awaaz is continuing its 12-year-old legacy in successfully educating its viewers about issues that matter to them.

    The channel has chosen India’s 70th Independence Day as the occasion to create awareness and encourage people to donate towards a mid-day meal of a child. The channel has partnered with Akshay Patra, an NGO that has been working extensively on implementing the mid-day meal programme across different schools in India.

    CNBC Awaaz managing editor Alok Joshi says, “We will use our programming and reach to engage viewers in the noble task of sponsoring mid-day meals for children. Our team of anchors and reporters consider this as a social commitment towards the society and are excited about the partnership.”

    MUMBAI: International Advertising Association (IAA) recently hosted the IAA Cricket League 2016, one of the most successful and largest cricketing events that brought the M&E and advertising fraternity together.

    Cricket being one of the most popular sports in the country and among corporate circles alike, the IAA Cricket League was a huge success with 24 teams from leading advertising and Media and Entertainment entities battling it out against each other to win the champion’s trophy. Presented by Sony Max, the two day event was held on November 5 & 12 at The Islam and Wilson Gymkhana at Marine Lines.

    With many intense rounds of games and a nail-biting finish, the Mid Day team was adjudged the winner, while The Social Street bagged the runners up title. IAA president Neeraj Roy, and IAA vice president Monica Tata presented the winner’s trophy to the victorious eleven from the Mid-Day team.

    Hungama Digital Media CEO & MD Neeraj Roy said, “Sincere thanks to Sony Max for supporting this event and also to all the 24 companies.
