    MUMBAI: One of Colin Firth’s much awaited action film Kingsman Secret Service is all set for an India release on 27 February in English and Hindi.

     

    Based on the acclaimed comic book and directed by Matthew Vaughn (Kick Ass, X-Men First Class), Kingsman Secret Service tells the story of Kingsman; a super-secret spy organisation that recruits an unrefined but promising street kid into his agency’s ultra-competitive training programme just as a global threat emerges from a twisted tech genius.

     

    Directed and co-written by Matthew Vaughn with Jane Goldman, Kingsman stars: Colin Firth, Michael Caine and Samuel Jackson with fresh talent – Taron Egerton and Sophie Cookson.

    Tarantino wishes to work with Johnny Depp, Meryl Streep and Michael Caine

    MUMBAI: Noted director Quentin Tarantino wants to work with superstar Johnny Depp. The 49-year-old director, who has done films like Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Kill Bil‘, said that Depp features on his wish list of actors that he would love to work with, it is reported.
    "We would love to work together. We have talked about it for years. Not that we get together and talk about it for years, but from time to time. We‘re obviously fans of each other. It just needs to be the right character.
    I just need to write the right character that I think Johnny would be the right guy to do it with. And if he agrees, then we‘ll do it. And then it‘ll be magical. I haven‘t written the perfect character for him as of yet but maybe someday I will," the director has been quoted to have said.
    The Django Unchained helmer is also keen to work with Meryl Streep as well as Michael Caine.

    The Dark Night rises might overtake The Avengers

    MUMBAI: Gauging the pre-booking sales of Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Night Rises, it looks like the film will take over The Avengers as the highest grossing action hero film of all time.

    It has been reported that the tickets are being sold for $100 mostly, with an exception of the screening at Manhattan‘s Lincoln Square Theater selling them for $114. The tickets went on sale last week and the opening night was promptly sold out.

    The Avengers had an amazing success rate at the box office when it released worldwide on 11 April and went on to earn $1.42 billion globally.

    The film stars Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Anne Hathaway, and Michael Caine in prominent roles.

    The Dark Knight Rises is to hit the screens on 20 July.

    BBC to air 400th episode of ‘Talking Movies’

    MUMBAI: BBC World has announced that its film based show Talking Movies looks back over more than seven years of news, views and interviews this week to celebrate its 400th episode.

    The distinguished cinema correspondent Tom Brook hosts the show which began in 1999 and has been praised for its fresh approach to film by actors including Michael Caine and Russell Crowe and directors such as Baz Luhrmann. With reviews, in-depth interviews, and behind-the-scenes reports, Talking Movies is regularly filmed from New York with specials from Hollywood and the Cannes, Sundance and Toronto international film festivals. Tom is currently celebrating his 22 year of reporting on the US film industry for the BBC, and has attended every Academy Awards ceremony during this time.

    The BBC says tha Talking Movies has interviewed most of the big names in modern cinema. In this special anniversary episode, the Talking Movies team trawls its archives for some classic interviews featuring Michael Caine; Woody Allen; Julia Roberts; Terry Gilliam; Woody Harrelson; Lauren Bacall; Holly Hunter; Dame Judi Dench; Mike Figgis; Robert Redford; George Clooney; and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

    Brook says, “We try to be different from mainstream movies shows. We take a serious, independently-minded journalistic approach in our coverage that sets us apart from our competitors. Our reports have ranged from examining the role of the movie publicist to taking an in-depth look at the Indian film industry. I’m very proud of our programme.     BBC says that the show has earned respect from key industry players and has a growing number of fans around the globe. As well as endorsements from celebrities such as Martin Scorsese, Hugh Jackman and top Indian filmmaker Mira Nair, the team regularly receives emails from viewers in countries as far apart as Ghana, India, Israel, New Zealand and Singapore.     This special anniversary edition will transmit on BBC World from 8 November at 4 pm, 9 November at 9 pm and 10 November at 2 pm.
