    Green Gold wins Licensor of the Year Award

     MUMBAI: Green Gold Licensing & Merchandising has been awarded the ‘Licensor of the Year 2013’ at the eighth Star Retail Awards held in New Delhi. This is the second consecutive time that Green Gold’s licensing business has been recognised for its unique efforts.

     

    The Star Retailer Awards is a place which witnesses the coming together of the whole retail industry to celebrate and honour the best performers. The awards are presented by Franchise India Holdings.

     

    “This is the second successive year that Green Gold has achieved this recognition. We are really honoured and the star of the entire programme is Chhota Bheem. Three years back we had to put in a lot of efforts to set the licensing division and today with 100 + licensees on board, Green Gold is a big force to reckon with. Our aim is to continue bringing in the best products for Chhota Bheem fans and grow the licensing market in India. We have also signed up new licenses for Mighty Raju, our other show on Pogo,” said Sourcing & Licensing vice president Madhav Prabhala.

     

    Green Gold is the creator and producer of the hit series’ Chhota Bheem, Mighty Raju, Luv Kushh, Chorr Police, Krishna Balram on kids’ TV and cinema. Apart from licensing, the company is into animation, merchandising, franchising stores, gaming application development and movies.

    Magic Square Entertainment has signed Chennai Rhinos deal for CCL

    MUMBAI: Magic Square Entertainment has bagged the Chennai Rhinos marketing deal for Celebrity Cricket League (CCL).

     

    Chennai Rhinos CEO Uday Sinh Wala said, “Magic Square Entertainment, we felt, was the best and most professional set-up to partner with us and to build the Chennai Rhinos franchise on a long-term basis.”

     

    The deal is pegged at around Rs 50 million.

     

    Magic Square Entertainment director and CEO Vijay Vishwanath in response said, “We are overwhelmed to sign up Chennai Rhinos for Celebrity Cricket League Season 4. We are fully geared up to market Chennai Rhinos Season 4. This season looks even brighter.”

     

    On the marketing plans for this activity, Vjay Vishwanath added, “We have rights to exploit all forms of branding options. Our expertise is in marketing and sales on various events and shows. Our team has drawn up extensive plans of exposure for clients on all the segments, viz stadia, merchandising, and all kinds of BTL activity, covering a wide spectrum and gamut of activities.”

     

    “I am sure this will be a great opportunity for the advertisers to showcase their brands. CCL is one of the most valuable entertainment properties with films stars adding a lot of fizz, entertainment value and brand recall,” Vishwanath added.

     

    The Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) is a non-professional men’s cricket league in India, contested by eight teams consisting of film actors from eight major regional film industries of Indian cinema.

     

    Chennai Rhinos is the most successful team in the CCL having won the tournament twice.

    MUMBAI: Chhota Bheem, the Indian toon phenomenon launched its brand new Green Gold store in Chembur, Mumbai on 14 September. This merchandising arm of Green Gold Animation, creators of Chhota Bheem is the third Green Gold store in Mumbai and 27th in India. The opening of this store aims to bring this toon character even closer to his young admirers and give them an opportunity to endorse him.

    The event also gave kids the chance to meet and play with their super-hero in person. “Chhota Bheem today is an iconic character in the arena of Indian animation. A phenomenon in India with a viewership of over 40 million, the character has begun to enjoy a cult status. Bringing him closer to his audiences was an obvious extension. At our store, our young customers can buy a variety of Chhota Bheem merchandises. And the experience is uniform and seamless across all our stores”, says Green Gold stores head Sudeesh Varma.

    MUMBAI: Sierra Entertainment, a division of Vivendi Games, has announced that the video game Ice Age 2: The Meltdown, based on the animated film Ice Age: The Meltdown from 20th Century Fox is available at retailers across the US on the Wii video game system.

    “Ice Age 2 The Meltdown showed its strength as a popular movie-based kids video game with retail sales of over 1.3 million units and in the box office with sales topping $646 million worldwide,” said Vivendi Games president global retail Pascal Brochier. “We are expecting Ice Age 2 The Meltdown for Wii to follow a similar course.”

    The Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers allow players to guide their favourite Ice Age: The Meltdown pals through challenging puzzles and exciting mini-games.

    Fox Licensing and Merchandising executive vice president Elie Dekel added, “This game is the perfect complement to the film and a great way for fans to extend their experience with the story and its characters.”
