  • Anupriya Acharya to head The Media Edge, Gupta heads overseas

MUMBAI: The Media Edge (TME) will see a change of leadership from 1 March, 2005. Anupriya Acharya will join TME as president, taking over from Divya Gupta who has been heading TME since its inception in 1999.

Gupta will be relocating out of India on an international assignment.

Acharya joins TME from Group M where she set up M Consult, Group M’s foray into marketing communications consultancy.

Having led TME since its inception, Gupta has provided consistently effective leadership for the agency’s growth. Under her stewardship, TME has grown to be one of the largest, most professional and well-respected media houses in India.

Gupta will be with TME for the time needed to ensure a smooth handover to Anupriya, the company has stated.

Acharya was with Mindshare Fulcrum from 2000 to 2004 and brings with her significant experience in strategic planning and buying.

  • Sanjay Sharma quits Media Edge, joins Starcom in Bangkok

MUMBAI: Sanjay Sharma has ended his two-year stint as media director of The Media Edge, Mumbai, recently. He will soon be leaving for Bangkok to start his next job at Starcom, the media arm of Leo Burnett. Media Edge handles Denstu Young and Rubicam’s media interests in India (including Rediffusion and Everest).

When contact, Sharma said he had made the choice after much consideration. “I think it will be a step forward in my career,” he explained. He will be joining Starcom as regional brand and communications director from 28 August. “In fact, today is my last day in Media Edge,” he said.

Sharma’s association with Media Edge was rather enjoyable, he said. “It was here that I won the AOR of Apollo Tyres, United Phosphorus, Hyatt Regent and Kuoni Travel among other brands.” He said he is not sure yet as to what his responsibilities will be at Starcom, but nevertheless expects it to be fulfilling.

  • Madan Mohapatra joins Media Edge as media director

MUMBAI: Madan Mohapatra who was with Modi Online Lottery as marketing manager since September last year has quit and joined The Media Edge (TME) as media director buying. Mohapatra will also be handling the Parle AOR with effect from today.

Mohapatra will be reporting to Media Edge overall head of buying Himani Kapadia and also to Media Edge vice-president Partha Ghosh who handles the Parle brand.

Repeated attempts by indiantelevision.com to contact Kapadia and TME COO Divya Gupta were in vain.

Prior to his stint with the Modis, Mohapatra was associate media director in charge of broadcast at Starcom Worldwide for three years.

Mohapatra’s appointment comes at a time when TME has been seeing a lot of corporate churn. The latest to the call it quits at the agency was Anand Vaidyanathan who was print buying head. Earlier this year Prasanth Kumar and Shrivathsa Iyengar also quit the agency.
