    MEC India wins GoDaddy media account

    MUMBAI: WPP’s MEC India has won the media mandate for GoDaddy, the technology provider dedicated to small businesses.

     

    With over 12 million customers, GoDaddy manages more than 57 million domains globally. The company’s stated ambition is to help people easily start, confidently grow and successfully run their own ventures.

     

    GoDaddy has identified India as a priority market for their global expansion. The company recently signed on Mithun Chakraborty with a view to democratise internet-enabled businesses in India.  

     

    MEC North head Roopam Garg added, “We are delighted to have the opportunity to partner GoDaddy on their exciting journey. GoDaddy is all about empowering people in their quest for success and we are happy to play a small role in this great endeavour.”

     

    The clientele list of the agency includes Colgate Palmolive, Britannia, NIVEA,  FlipKart, Citibank, Honda Motorcycles and Scooters, General Electric, Zee Network, Reliance Group, CavinKare, to name a few.

    MEC adds more Reliance companies to its kitty

    MUMBAI: MEC India, GroupM’s media agency, has expanded its client portfolio with the inclusion of Reliance Group companies – Reliance Capital (includes Reliance General Insurance, Reliance Life Insurance, Reliance Mutual Fund and Reliance Commercial Finance), Reliance Infrastructure, Reliance Power and Reliance Energy.

     

    The agency already handles the media business for Reliance Communications, Reliance Net Connect and Reliance Digital TV.

     

    The accounts will be serviced out of MEC India’s Mumbai office.

    MEC India appoints Ajit Gurnani as head, West

    MUMBAI: MEC India, a media and planning agency and founding partner of GroupM, has appointed Ajit Gurnani as head of MEC West.

    The post-graduate from the Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA), Gurnani will be reporting to MEC India managing director T Gangadhar.

    Speaking about the appointment, Gangadhar said, “Mumbai is our biggest office by far and I am pleased that we have found a quality leader like Ajit to head our operations here. Given his rich vein of experience, I have no doubt that Ajit will make valuable contributions – to clients and staff alike.”

    Gurnani has more than 16 years of experience in the field of media and marketing. Prior to this, he was with Mindshare as principal partner, was a part of Jagran.com and Starcom Digital.

    On his new role, Gurnani said, “I am excited about the opportunity and challenge that this assignment provides to me. I look forward to working with the team and help create business building work that wins accolades and recognition.”

  • MEC India bags Dixcy Scott’s media biz

    MUMBAI: MEC India has been awarded the media duties for the innerwear brand Dixcy Scott, following a multi-agency pitch.

    The agency‘s Bangalore office will handle the account.

    Dixcy director Raghul Sikka said, “We have very aggressive plans for the coming year and we wanted a like-minded partner on board. It was a tough fight between equally competent agencies. We believe we have found that partner in MEC. We look forward to working with MEC”.

    Dixcy Scott heads – advertising and promotion Ganesh Sharma added, “Being a low involvement category, our media product needs depth coupled with an innovative approach to reach our target audience, which will eventually deliver the desired results for us”.

  • MEC bags media mandate of Bluestone.com

    MUMBAI: Online store for jewellery and accessories, Bluestone.com has awarded its media duties to MEC India.

    MEC will service the account from its Bangalore office. MEC India MD T Gangadhar said, “There is no better way to begin 2013 than this. We are excited about partnering BlueStone on their ambitious vision – a vision that could completely transform the jewellery retail landscape in India”.

    Founded by Gaurav Singh Kushwaha, BlueStone.com is funded by blue-chip investors, Accel Partners.

    Kushwaha said, “We are excited about taking BlueStone across a much wider canvas and are delighted to partner with MEC in this regard.   • MEC India is Radikal Rice’s Digital AoR

    MUMBAI: MEC India, a media and planning agency and a founding partner of Group M, has bagged the digital mandate for Radikal Rice following a multi-agency pitch.

    This win comes close on the heels of MEC winning the Britannia business in Bangalore.

    Radikal Rice has recently appointed Madison Media as their Media AoR. The media budget of the brand is estimated to be around Rs 250 million.

    MEC Interaction Head Ritesh Singh said, “We are delighted to be appointed the digital AoR for Radikal Rice and have some exciting things planned for the brand.”

    The agency has already started working on the account. The brand has its presence on social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter. However, the agency is planning a big digital campaign roll out soon. MEC is also redesigning the official website of the brand.

    The brand is expected to spend 7-10 per cent of its media budget on its digital campaigns.

    Radikal MD Siddharth Chaudhary said, “Keeping in view with the way the digital wave is embracing all walks of life for our consumers, we needed to lay emphasis on engagement and activation. That is the reason we have a full-fledged Digital AOR arrangement with MEC Interaction. What appealed to us about them was the innovative and inventive approach to reaching out to digital audiences across different platforms.”

    McCann Erickson is the creative AoR on the account.
