  • Effie 2012 announces final shortlist; O&M leads

    MUMBAI: The Advertising Club (Bombay) has announced the final shortlist of the case studies of Effie 2012.

    Ogilvy & Mather leads with 30 shortlisted entries, followed by McCann Worldgroup‘s 16. Leo Burnett India and Lowe Lintas and Partners tie up with 11 entries each. JWT and Taproot India have got eight and five entries shortlisted respectively.

    To be held on 4 December, Effies is the only award that is bestowed on both the client and agency to jointly share the celebration of their effective communication and perseverance.

    There are 122 shortlists from 27 agencies this year.

  • IPG shuffles McCann Worldgroup senior team

    MUMBAI: The Interpublic Group has elevated Harris Diamond from his position as chairman and CEO of IPG’s Constituency Management Group (CMG) to the same role at McCann Worldgroup, replacing Nick Brien.

    Also, Luca Lindner and Gustavo Martinez have been given broader mandates within the company with significant geographic responsibilities and full oversight of McCann Erickson Advertising. The trio of Lindner, Martinez and Diamond will occupy a newly-created, three-person office of the Chairman for McCann Worldgroup.

    In his new regional role, Lindner will also take charge of Middle East and Africa apart from the Americas while Martinez will add Asia Pacific responsibilities to his current title of president, Europe for McCann Worldgroup. As Diamond takes on his new position, the marketing services agencies that make up the Constituency Management Group will report directly into Interpublic management.

    McCann Worldgroup elevates Prasoon Joshi and Charles Cadel

    MUMBAI: In a bid to strengthen its Asia Pacific and South Asia leadership, McCann Worldgroup has announced promotion of Prasoon Joshi and Charles Cadell.

    Joshi, who served as McCann Worldgroup India executive chairman, has been given charge of president at McCann Worldgroup South Asia president. Meanwhile, Cadell, who was McCann Worldgroup Southeast Asia and Australia regional MD, has been named McCann Worldgroup Asia Pacific president.

    Both, Cadell and Joshi, will report to McCann Worldgroup chairman and CEO Nick Brien.

    “McCann Worldgroup has positioned itself for an ambitious growth strategy. Realigning the region under Cadell‘s and Joshi‘s leadership will help to drive deeper collaboration and accelerate investment opportunities in a more cohesive manner,” Brien said in a statement.

    Cadell will be based in Singapore and will manage China, Korea, Japan and Australia while Joshi will look after India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

    Blackberrys launches new TVC with the theme of ‘Go Sharp’

    MUMBAI: The apparel brand Blackberrys has launched a new TV commercial that aims to bring to life the “Go Sharp” philosophy of the refurbished brand.


    The TVC is created by McCann Worldgroup TAG Ideation. It reiterates Blackberrys‘ position as a fashion brand.
     
    “Set in a surreal world, our protagonist is seen playfully dodging the paparazzi as soon as he adorns his Blackberrys. The geometric figures and the device of them getting slashed, even through an accidental touch by him, reiterate how everything is ‘cut to size‘ before our protagonist,” Blackberrys spokesperson said.


    The TVC also establishes a “near perfect consistency” with the still campaign. The international fashion looks and the Indian twist perfectly blends in to reflect the brand as well as audience.


    The company has also made a 3- minute Blackberrys music track.
     
    The company has identified that its TG is as much in metros, tier 1 as they are in tier 2 cities. “We also recognize the growing potential of the tier 2 market segment. Therefore, our choice of genres and channels have been basis this understanding of our audiences,” the company said.


    It is using various genres for TV promotions including movies, general entertainment, English and Hindi news, Hindi entertainment etc.


    “We will be present on the leading channels in each of these genres, some of which are NDTV India, AXN, Zee Business, NDTV Good Times, Max, Zoom, Discovery Network, CNBC TV 18, Awaaz, CNN IBN, IBN7, Star Movies, Zee Studio, Zee Café, NDTV 24 X 7, Times Now, and Star News,” the spokesperson said.

    McCann Worldgroup ropes in Charles Cadell as regional MD

    MUMBAI: Charles Cadell will be joining McCann Worldgroup as the regional managing director for South East Asia and Australia.

    Cadell is currently serving his notice period at Lowe Lintas as chief executive officer.

    “I will be joining McCann in the second week of January”, Cadell confirmed to Indiantelevision.com. 

    In his new role, Cadell will be handling McCann‘s South East Asian business. He will be reporting to McCann Worldgroup CEO Nick Brien. 

    Cadell had joined Lowe Lintas in 2007. Prior to that, he was working as the CEO of Leo Burnett Malaysia and president, Asia Pacific, Arc Worldwide, a Leo Burnett affiliated marketing services company based in Malaysia.
