    Mayank Dayal switches gears, takes the wheel at LA Knight Riders

    MUMBAI: Mayank Dayal, a seasoned sports marketing whiz, has made a cracking move, transitioning from the dusty pitches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) to the sun-kissed shores of Los Angeles. He’s stepped into the role of business head – Los Angeles Knight Riders, a full-time gig with Knight Riders Sports, effective June 2025. This chap knows his onions when it comes to brand building and fan frenzy, having honed his skills across two decades in global sports, media, and entertainment.

    Just five months ago, Dayal was the head of marketing for Gujarat Titans, where he was instrumental in driving brand growth and whipping up fan engagement for the IPL franchise. Before his stint with the Titans, he was a key player at Sony Sports for nearly three years, leading award-winning campaigns for behemoths like the Fifa World Cup, UEFA Champions League, Olympics, and even the WWE. Talk about a versatile player!

    His career journey reads like a thrilling sports documentary. Dayal spent over six years at Sony Pictures Networks India, climbing the ranks to head – marketing, sports, after a four-year stint as associate vice president. Prior to that, he spent a considerable nine years and one month at Viacom18 Media Pvt Ltd, where he held various marketing leadership roles, including senior manager – marketing and director, marketing for channels like Comedy Central and Vh1.

    Dayal’s early innings saw him at Star India Pvt Ltd for nearly three years, where he served as an assistant manager and assistant manager – brand solutions, crafting innovative brand integrations. He also had a four-year, five-month spell as a manager – major accounts at Star News, where he was even awarded “The Best Sales Performer.” His foundational experience includes a brief stint as a trainee – marketing at Bharat Petroleum Co. Ltd and an executive trainee at Linterland – Rural.

    With a deep understanding of audience insights and digital media fandom, Dayal is all set to knock it out of the park for the Los Angeles Knight Riders. It seems his career is always playing on the front foot, driving brand, fan, and revenue growth in the global sports arena.

    Mayank Dayal joins Gujarat Titans as marketing head

    MUMBAI: From marketing TV sports channels  to  building a cricket franchise team. That’s the leap that Mayank Dayal has taken. Dayal has been hired as marketing head at Gujarat Titans. He  brings over two decades of strategic marketing experience across major media and sports brands, including Sony Pictures Networks India, Viacom18, and Star India.

    In his new role, Dayal will lead brand growth and fan engagement strategies, driving innovative marketing initiatives to strengthen Gujarat Titans’ identity both on and off the field. He will oversee content development, partnerships, social media expansion, and matchday experiences.

    Previously, Dayal served as sports marketing head at Sony Pictures Networks, where he played a pivotal role in enhancing the brand’s footprint. His tenure at Viacom18 saw successful campaigns for Comedy Central and Nickelodeon, while at Star India, he developed brand integration strategies for key advertisers.

    Dayal’s extensive expertise and innovative vision are expected to propel Gujarat Titans’ ambitions to become one of the most engaging and entertaining franchises in the IPL ecosystem.     Mayank Dayal joins SPN’s sports side

    MUMBAI: Mayank Dayal has joined Sony Pictures Networks India as associate vice president, where he is responsible for handling the sports cluster’s marketing and communications strategies as well as overall branding and imagery. He also handles the annual marketing plans, creating a calendar of campaigns and events, setting the marketing budget and analysing the market and competitors. Dayal replaces Murtuza Madraswala who quit the organisation in April this year.

    Previously, Dayal was working with Viacom18 as director, marketing of kids’ cluster. He joined the organisation on December 2012 and worked for more than nine years and held several positions. Before handling kids cluster, he was director marketing – Comedy Central and Vh1. Prior to that he was senior manager marketing for more than four years and before that, he worked with the organisation as manager – marketing.

    Dayal started his career with Linterland Rural as an executive trainee and also worked with Star India for more than seven years. Before joining Viacom18, he was working with Star India as an assistant manager. In the past, he has also worked with Bharat Petroleum and served the organisation for four months as a trainee in marketing.
