    Mattel unveils Barbie signature fragrance “B”; extends Hot Wheels & Barbie apparel range

    MUMBAI: As a first time initiative, Mattel Toys India has extended it’s flagship girl centric brand Barbie with the launch of a signature fragrance called “B.” This was unveiled at a fashion event in Mumbai showcasing the new Spring Summer Hot Wheels and Barbie 2007 collection for boys and girls.

    As the market for kid’s branded apparel in India is expanding, this new category caters to the 2 to 14 years age group. The Hot Wheels range features casual wear, that consists of the Racer wear that emphasizes on graphics, the Madfast collection in flamboyant colours, Jackets and Attitude collection that strikes a balance between design and practicality and the Streetwear collection that exudes urban vibes. To complete the look, Hot Wheels sunglasses, ride-ons, schools bags and accessories.

    The Barbie Spring Summer collection emphasis the Spring-Meadow look with pretty pinks, the Sporty look complete with the racquets, scooters and shrugs, the Summery look with twist shrugs, vests and the Rock Star look with faded jeans, blazers and coats. Creative accessories like Barbie school bags, sunglasses, guitars, boom boxes, skateboards, surfboards and helmets have been added to the collection, states an official release.

    The signature fragrance “B” is packaged along with a sparkling Barbie “B” charm and is priced at Rs.650 and Rs. 500 for 75 ml and 40 ml respectively.

    Mattel Toys managing director Sanjay Luthra said, “Kids define their popularity and success by the brands they wear, play and live with. On an emotional level, Barbie is the ultimate aspirational figure for a little girl symbolizing intelligence, success and beauty.

    Mattel makes Children’s Day special with ‘Barbie in the 12 Dancing Princesses’

    MUMBAI: On the occasion of Children’s Day, Mattel Toys India organized a special screening, courtesy Fun Cinemas and Rajshri Media – Mattel’s mobile content partner, of Barbie’s latest movie, Barbie in the 12 Dancing Princesses.

    The event was specially organized for the children from ‘Make a Wish Foundation of India’ and other Barbie fans from across Mumbai city,

    The movie which is the sixth from Barbie Entertainment portrays Barbie and her sisters’ love for dance, team spirit, togetherness and art. The film shows little girls, the importance and power of family, of togetherness and team spirit and conveys the message that one can make a difference. The graceful moves of the New York City Ballet Group are captured via motion-capture technology in the movie, states the release.

    Celebrity parents including Archanan Puran Singh with Hubby Parmeet Singh, Rajeshwari Sachdev, Deepti Bhatagar, Walusha Robinson and Pallavi Joshi with their toddlers were present to grace the occasion.

    Speaking on the occasion, Mattel Toys India managing director Sanjay Luthra said, “Barbie has always focused on spreading the message of love, togetherness and self confidence through her movies. Today, we are happy that we could put a smile on the faces of young fans from across the city.”

    Mattel to kick off ‘National School Scrabble Championship’

    MUMBAI: Mattel Toys India Pvt. Ltd, in association with Birla Sun Life Insurance, has set the stage for the Mattel National School Scrabble Championship 2006. The zonal rounds will be held on 11 and 12 November and the final on 22 November in Mumbai.

    This year the brain-teasing word game championship will reach out to more than 200 schools across India, with a total of over 1000 students participating from Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata and Pune, states an official release.

    Mumbai city alone, is expected to witness the participation of more than 300 students from close to 60 schools. Ten winners from each zonal final will be shortlisted for the national finals.

    The championship is applicable for students between the age group of 7-15 years and the event will be organised under the aegis of Scrabble Association of India.

    The big highlight of this year’s championship will be a grand trip for the champion and his parents to Malaysia, courtesy Cox and Kings. Kingfisher Airlines has joined in to support the event as the Travel sponsor for the Championship.

    Announcing the championship, Mattel Toys India managing director Sanjay Luthra said, “Scrabble, now 56-years old, is the world’s largest selling word game, with over 100 million sets sold in 29 different languages across 121 countries. In India our efforts have always been to try and encourage school kids to develop their vocabulary and analytical skills through the game of Scrabble.

    “The Mattel National School Scrabble Championship provides a platform for students to test these skills at a competitive level. This year, the Championship will be much bigger than ever before, with a lot more students pitting their Scrabble® skills against each other.”

    MUMBAI: Mobile content based on Barbie’s latest movie, Barbie in the 12 Dancing Princesses has been launched across mobile networks in India including Hutch, Airtel, Idea, BSNL, MTNL, Reliance and Tata.

    Wallpapers, animations, themes, mono tones, poly tones, SMS tones, true tones, video clips and MMS Clips / M-cards will also be available and can be accessed by any GPRS enabled phone, informs an official release.

    Speaking on Barbie’s latest marketing initiative Mattel Toys India managing director Sanjay Luthra said, “The range of 12 Dancing Princesses: the dancing Barbie doll, the other doll characters, a musical castle, a stretch-limo Carriage etc. supported by lifestyle consumer products – takes every little girl deeper into the world of brand ‘Barbie’ and enhances her magical experience and interaction with her favourite Doll. Mobile content is one more avenue to reach out to parents’ who are trying to keep up with their tech-savvy Kids!”

In fact very soon, we have plans to bring Barbie a lot more close to you, by launching the Barbie MobiWorld on our short code and a series of mobile games too.
