  • Amit Wadhwa promoted to CEO at dentsu Creative India

    New Delhi: On the back of its global organisational redesign, dentsu international on Tuesday created a new structure for its creative service line in India. The restructuring will bring together some of India’s best agencies along with their digital & PR capabilities – all from the house of dentsu – under one umbrella to provide a more collaborative and aligned offering to clients.

    The brands that will come together as part of this redesign as dentsu Creative include Dentsu Webchutney, Taproot Dentsu, WATConsult, Perfect Relations, Isobar, Dentsu One, Dentsu India and Dentsu Impact.

    With the eventual consolidation under the two strong global brands – dentsumcgarrybowen (dentsuMB) and Isobar, dentsu Creative will provide digital-native, brand-led, customer-centric, creative, and strategic solutions to clients, effortlessly, it added.

    In India, the dentsu Creative service line will be led by chief executive officer, Amit Wadhwa, who will be responsible for the integration, coordination, and implementation of the overall strategy for dentsu Creative in the market. He will lead the dentsu India creative service line leadership team, reporting to Anand Bhadkamkar and the regional dentsu Creative leadership. 

    Sidharth Rao, in addition to his current responsibilities, will now also be in charge of the brand dentsuMB Group in India as its CEO. He will work with the leadership team on dentsuMB’s brand strategy for the market. Shamsuddin Jasani, who continues to oversee the Isobar brand in South Asia as its managing director (MD), will also take on an additional role at dentsu Creative. He will now work with the regional and global leadership teams to support the Isobar practice area and will work closely with the Isobar Global leadership team on the same.

    The network has also elevated Narayan Devanathan as president – strategy & integration for India. In addition to his current role as CEO, dentsu Solutions, he will now support and achieve dentsu’s strategic objectives by defining, implementing, and driving growth and other vital initiatives for the market. He will continue to report to Anand Bhadkamkar for his additional responsibility as part of the India market leadership team. Meanwhile, Narayan will now also don a regional hat as APAC head for the dentsu Creative Strategy & Consulting practice. 

    “Narayan has been instrumental in driving integration across our units and, as part of the South Asia integration initiatives, he will be supporting the Sri Lanka team in strategy and integration across the two markets. He will now be moving away from his current additional role as chairperson, Creative Service Line for India, and will take up a regional leadership role as APAC lead – strategy & consulting Practice in the creative service line. In this role, he will be working with the Regional and Global leadership teams within the creative service line to help develop the area of Strategy & Consulting Practice in the APAC region,” Anand added.

  • Spotify names Taj Alavi as global head of marketing

    New Delhi: Spotify on Friday appointed Taj Alavi as the global head of marketing.

    Alavi was previously associated with Uber as senior director global marketing from March 2019 to August 2020 and Intuit as head of brand marketing. She has also worked with financial technology company, Chime as vice president, marketing and communications. According to her linkedin profile, Alavi started her career as an account executive with Edelman in 1998 and then went on to work with companies like Revlon and Johnson & Johnson.

    At Intuit, Alavi was the primary manager of creative, media and brand agency of record relationships and drove brand infrastructure, including but not limited to nomenclature, governance process and visual identity.

  • OnePlus ropes in Jasprit Bumrah as brand ambassador for wearables

    New Delhi: Premium smartphone brand OnePlus has roped in cricketer Jasprit Bumrah as the brand ambassador for its wearable category. The OnePlus wearables category includes the OnePlus watch and the OnePlus Band.

    The association will include a 360-degree campaign and will be kick-started by a OnePlus x Jasprit Bumrah digital film on OnePlus India, YouTube, and Instagram.

    “It’s really wonderful to see a young brand empower the tech landscape and rise to the challenge of delivering exactly what consumers want,” said Bumrah.

    According to the company, the partnership with Bumrah reiterates the brand’s philosophy of ‘Never Settle’ and the company’s pursuit of perfection. “For young India today, Bumrah represents a passion for a healthy, fit, and active lifestyle while believing in constantly becoming better, a philosophy that truly resonates with what OnePlus stands for,” the company said in a statement.

  • 1702 Digital promotes Pranay Bhan to national creative director

    New Delhi: Integrated digital marketing company, 1702 Digital has promoted Pranay Bhan to the role of national creative director.

    Bhan will be responsible for elevating the creative wing of the agency and grooming mid-level talent along the way. The promotion comes on the heels of some successful campaigns like the Fortune Xpert and Superfood Khichdi launches, Edelweiss Tokio Life campaigns, Marico Cocosoul Influencer campaigns, Smaaash Video campaign, and new business growth under his supervision as the associate creative director, the agency said in a statement.

  • Nivea India appoints Ajay Simha as marketing director

    New Delhi: Nivea India on Wednesday appointed Ajay Simha as the marketing director. Simha was earlier responsible for the Nivea body care and cleansing and baby care portfolio across the Middle East and North Africa.

    He has over 15 years of overall experience in the field of sales and marketing, across various categories including personal care, male grooming, face, lip and sun care. “Simha’s leadership will help strengthen Nivea’s position as Emerging India’s most loved and trusted skin care brand. With a deep rooted understanding and a proven track record of driving growth, Simha is slated to enhance Nivea’s brand presence and equity in the country”, the company said in a press statement.

    Nivea India, managing director, Neil George said, “We are thrilled to have Ajay back to the India team and lead the marketing efforts here.   • Wondrlab ropes in Bilal Ansari as lead-data

    New Delhi: Wondrlab strengthened its senior leadership team on Tuesday with the appointment of Bilal Ansari as lead-data. He will report to Wondrlab, co-founder and managing partner, content platform, Rakesh Hinduja.

    Ansari comes with expertise in data analysis for business and brand solutions –social listening, online reputation management, social media analytics, website analysis, consumer behaviour analysis, consumer journey mapping, and how learnings from these sources add value to brand and business strategy.

    Prior to this, he was working with TikTok–ByteDance as the content solutions manager. He has also worked with Digitas India, where he worked on brands such as Spotify, Nivea, Jeep, Philip Morris International, and Zee5.

    “Data is the focal point of every solution we execute at Wondrlab. However, the expertise for it isn’t easy to come by, and we are glad we have found the right fit in Bilal. His knowledge comes together at the holy trinity of data, analytics, and consumer behaviour, making his expertise quintessential to our platform-first approach.   • Havas Media Group India announces key elevations for senior management

    Mumbai: Havas Media Group India on Monday announced several new elevations and promotions, as it gears up to accelerate its growth across key markets in the country.

    This year, the focus of the agency has largely been on the product offering and thus investing in people and consolidating client businesses under the global Mx operating system. “Mx is Havas’ new way of activating the most meaningful media to the audience for all clients. This transformation ensures higher focus on clients, better omni channel planning and a seamless workflow right from client briefs to business results, whilst

    keeping the audience and consumer behaviour at the centre of all planning exercise,” the agency said on Monday.

    North: Delhi/Gurgaon is one of the largest business units of Havas Media Group India with clients ranging from auto, consumer durables, real-estate to fashion, F&B and hospitality sectors among others. The north operations have been consolidated under two unit heads – Roopali Sharma, who completes eight long years, and Harbir Singh, who completes six years. They have been promoted as managing partners – Delhi. Chandradeep Kumar completes five years and has been promoted to senior vice president (Delhi).

    West: Mumbai will be led by Manish Sharma, previously vice president -Delhi as executive vice president & head – Mumbai. He has been with the organisation for over five years. Both North and West continue to report to president, north and west India Uday Mohan, who has been a pillar at the agency for the last 13 years. 

    South: Bangalore, which is another fast-growing market for Havas Media Group India with new-age clients such as Swiggy, Gamezy, MyGate and the recent win of Ola, will continue to be led by Saurabh Jain. He has been with the agency for over six years and has been promoted as managing partner – south.

    Digital: Rohan Chincholi is now elevated to head of digital to oversee and consolidate the overall digital business/services across markets, as the agency strengthens its digital footprint in the region through its new Mx methodology that combines both consumer insight and data. This is Chincholi’s second stint at Havas Media. He re-joined the agency in 2017.

  • L&K Saatchi & Saatchi ropes in Kanishka Vashisht as executive creative director

    New Delhi: L&K Saatchi & Saatchi strengthened its creative team on Monday with the appointment of Kanishka Vashisht as the executive creative director. Vashisht will be based out of New Delhi and will manage all brands for the region. He will report to L&K Saatchi & Saatchi, Joint national creative director, Rohit Malkani.

    Vashisht joins the agency from Lowe Lintas, Delhi where he was group creative director. His joining will strengthen the agency’s creative output and help create a unique culture – one that will thrive on creating superlative content & meaningful conversations for brands in the region, said the agency in a statement on Monday.

    Commenting on the appointment, Malkani said: “Finding the perfect person to head our New Delhi office wasn’t easy. It had to be someone who shared our obsession for spawning a unique culture, who shared our ambition for creating conversations and superlative content and finally, someone with a proven track record. In Kanishka, I saw all three. He is a unique creative person with his heart in the right place! It’s going to be a heck of a ride with him on board.” 

    Vashisht began his advertising journey as a suit in Triton Advertising, Delhi. But the creative spirit in him led him to switch over and join Ogilvy Delhi in 2004. After a five-year stint at the agency where he worked on brands like Motorola, KFC, LG, Eno, and others, he left to join Leo Burnett. As Uninor was born, he was then summoned to McCann Delhi to build relationships with Perfetti, Chevrolet, Coke, Aircel, Metlife, Greenlam, and others.

    After a five-year stint, Lowe Lintas Delhi came calling and got him to help conceive much more than just ideas for brands like Google, Micromax, Foodpanda, and Hindustan Times. He briefly took a sabbatical to explore his liking for a serene setting and left for the fields of southern France.

    Sharing his views on the opportunity that this role presents, he said, “I believe L&K Saatchi & Saatchi is an extremely fertile land for some very interesting brand work. My job is to sow the seeds of possibility, gather and nurture talent, and of course, reap the fruits of our combined efforts.”
