    JioCinema Premium to stream HBO original drama series Dune: Prophecy

    Mumbai: JioCinema Premium has released the official trailer for the HBO original drama series Dune: Prophecy. Co-produced with Legendary Television, the six-episode season is set to debut exclusively on JioCinema Premium, starting 18 November at 6:30AM, with new episodes dropping every subsequent Monday.

    From the expansive universe of Dune, created by acclaimed author Frank Herbert, and 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides, the series follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit. The series is inspired by the novel Sisterhood of Dune, written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson.

    The cast features notable actors such as Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, Mark Strong, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Camilla Beeput, Jihae, Tabu, Charithra Chandran, Jessica Barden, Emma Canning, and Yerin Ha. This series promises a rich narrative filled with intrigue and power struggles within the iconic Dune universe.

    Mumbai: The highly anticipated character of Indian superstar Tabu from the upcoming series, Dune: Prophecy, has been unveiled. Set 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides, Dune: Prophecy follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit. The series will stream exclusively in India on JioCinema Premium.

    Starring in the recurring role of Sister Francesca, Tabu is all set to surprise global audiences with her impeccable portrayal once again. A captivating and influential figure in Dune: Prophecy, Sister Francesca is strong, intelligent, and alluring, leaving a lasting impression wherever she goes. Once the great love of the Emperor, her return to the palace disrupts the delicate balance of power in the capital.

    ‘The Imitation Game’ wins People’s Choice Award at TIFF

    MUMBAI: Benedict Cumberbatch starrer The Imitation Game won the People’s Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), marking the end of the 11-day movie marathon.

     

    Set for a 21 November release in US, the biopic portrays Cumberbatch as mathematician Alan Turing, who led the effort to break the Enigma code during World War II and was later persecuted by the government for his homosexuality. Directed by Morten Tyldum, the movie also stars Keira Knightley, Matthew Goode, Mark Strong, Rory Kinnear, Charles Dance, Allen Leech and Matthew Beard.

     

    The film beat the first runner-up Learning to Drive — a dramedy about the unlikely friendship between Patricia Clarkson’s newly separated book editor and her driving instructor.

     

    Sponsored by Grolsch and decided by TIFF audiences, The People’s Choice Award for a feature film, is the most prestigious prize of the festival. Previous winners include 12 Years a Slave, Silver Linings Playbook, The King’s Speech and Slumdog Millionaire.

     

    Meanwhile, the people’s choice award in the genre-driven Midnight Madness section went to New Zealand comedy maestros Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement for their vampire mockumentary What We Do in the Shadows. Maxime Giroux’s Felix and Meira took the Canada Goose Award for Best Canadian Feature Film and Jeffrey St. Jules won the prize for best first Canadian feature film for Bang Bang Baby.

     

    The People’s Choice Award for documentaries went to Hajooj Kuka’s Beats of the Antonov, a film that promotes peace, love and cultural expression amid the tribal wars that have afflicted Sudan for decades.
