  • ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ S10 heads to Bulgaria for new thrills

‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ S10 heads to Bulgaria for new thrills

MUMBAI: After the success of Bigg Boss season 13, Colors is all set to replace it with Khatron Ke Khiladi season 10 from 22 February at 9 pm. Last year the show garnered around 222 million viewership throughout its journey on the channel and it was the biggest reality show in FY 19 for Colors.

"The DNA of the Khatron Ke Khiladi is stunts; its action, its thrill. It's about how one overcomes their fear. But the fact that we're taking it to Bulgaria has changed the scenario completely. We had our own challenges in Bulgaria and to overcome those challenges we innovate. And that's what brings Khatron Ke Khiladi to its newness. The USP of the Khatron Ke Khiladi will be Bulgaria and unimaginable stunts that viewers will see and truly some of them will keep you on the edge of your seat," says Viacom18 hindi mass entertainment and kids network head Nina Elavia Jaipuria.

And that's what entertainment is all about. The kind of emotion it can evoke is reality TV. "We have invested a lot in Khatron Ke Khiladi, it's an expensive show. When the viewers will see the show they will realise that stunts and Rohit Shetty are the USP of the show," says Jaipuria.

She adds, "In FY 2019, Khatron Ke Khiladi was leading and it was the biggest nonfiction show of FY 19. On an average, I think on a weekly average it had about 9 million viewership. But overall, the entire journey had 222 million viewers. That's huge and that's the biggest non-fiction show has had in a long time. We want to make sure that all the viewers who were watching Bigg Boss season 13 watch Khatron Ke Khiladi too."

The channel has utilised the platform of Bigg Boss season 13 to promote the upcoming season of Khatron Ke Khiladi. "We got integrations going into Big Boss and Filmfare Awards to talk about it. Of course, we have a lot of outdoor will have some radio buzz, and we have a very solid digital strategy because stunts can be done and lend themselves well to digital."

For the first time, the channel will use social media platform TikTok, along with Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. The channel is going to take the daring challenge with the contestants through Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. Jaipuria informs, "We will get first the contestants to take the daring challenge and then we'll ask viewers to take the daring challenge. We've done some very peculiar content, which is specially made for viewers online, where we have actually shot two sides of the same contestant. So the contest for example Karishma Tanna – how she wants to face the fear but the other side is about being scared. A lot of social media engagement will be happening throughout show. We wish to trend as much as Bigg Boss worldwide," she added.

Rohit Shetty returns as the host with the theme of the season Darr Ki University. Enrolling in the university and turning the scintillating country of Bulgaria into a battleground, will be Adaa Khan, Karishma Tanna, Karan Patel, Shivin Narang, Tejashwi Prakash, Balraj Syal, Amruta Khanvilkar, Rani Chatterjee, RJ Malishka and Dharmesh Yelande. Every stunt, every challenge will count when Darr Lega Class, Dega traas and the report card will determine the fate of the contestants in the game.

For the first time, contestants will be seen performing stunts on a moving train which has been designed by Shetty. Each episode will have a mix of thrilling acts including an aerial stunt performed on a chopper.  Along with performing adrenaline rushing stunts, the contestants will also be seen having their share of fun.  Be it Karan Patel and Amruta Khanvilkar breaking into Chaiyya Chaiyya atop a moving train, Tejasswi trying to talk to a ravenous crocodile or Karishma Tanna falling in love with a Gorilla, there will never be a dull moment on India’s largest stunt-based reality show.

Viacom18 hindi mass entertainment chief content officer Manisha Sharma says, “Khatron Ke Khiladi is one of our marquee properties that presents a perfect blend of action and entertainment. This season, 10 audacious contestants have been carefully handpicked to be a part of Darr Ki University helmed by our revered host Rohit Shetty. He has been an integral part of our journey and will give this season his personal touch by designing some of the daredevil stunts. For the first time, the season has been shot at the picturesque locations of Bulgaria that serves as a perfect backdrop for the thrilling experience. The contestants will be accompanied by creepy crawlies, deadly animals and innumerable hurdles on their journey that will increase the challenges manifold.”

The professor of the University and show host, Rohit Shetty said, “The idea of fear seldom puts us on a backfoot but on Khatron Ke Khiladi, it is definitely not an option. This is my fifth year of association with the show and my job is to push the contestants, which I have always done, to face their phobias head-on and explore their true potential. Even the breathtaking views of Bulgaria will fail to ease out the pain when the contestants’ endurance and mental strength will be put to test.”

Endemol Shine India CEO Abhishek Rege says, “Thrill and adventure put together always makes for a great entertainment proposition and Khatron Ke Khiladi provides you just that. The show has successfully grown over the years to become our biggest action-based property while amping up the energy and action. Rohit Shetty is tantamount to an action guru and with every season, he has reinvented himself to take the show to the next level. We hope to keep up the same momentum as the new season is packed with edgy and high-intensity stunts.”

  • COLORS launches an epic tale of good vs. evil – ‘Vish Ya Amrit: Sitaara’

COLORS launches an epic tale of good vs. evil – ‘Vish Ya Amrit: Sitaara’

MUMBAI: COLORS, India’s leading premium Hindi entertainment channel is strengthening its leadership in the fantasy and supernatural genre with the launch of ‘Vish Ya Amrit: Sitaara’ – a stunning recreation of the Vishakanya folklore that existed from the time of Chandragupta Maurya. Produced by Rashmi Sharma Telefilms, the show will premiere on 3rd December 2018, Monday – Friday 10:30 pm only on COLORS.

Historically speaking, the cloak of mystery concealed the identity of Vishkanyas for too long. But folklores surrounding their existence have always fascinated viewers across age groups. COLORS’ newest offering, Vish Ya Amrit: Sitaara will see a beautiful portrayal of this concept that was once considered extremely powerful to combat enemies or take revenge. The show boasts of a stellar star cast, with Adaa Khan playing the title role of Sitaara, Shilpa Saklani (Vrinda)Sandeep Baswana (Kuldip Shekavat) and Shakti Anand (King Shivdaan Singh) amongst others.

Centuries ago Indian rulers trained girls to become assassins, first making them immune to poison and then – by slowly introducing poison into their systems – turning them venomous. Hence the term ‘vishkanya’. Known for their beauty, vishkanyas used seduction to escape dangerous situations and bring empires to their knees. Vish Ya Amrit: Sitaara is set in Vikralgadh village in Rajasthan and traces the journey of Sitaara, who is oblivious to her own identity. Abandoned in her infancy by her mother, she is brought up by her father Kuldip Shekavat who is a loyal palace manager to King Shivdaan Singh. Falling in love with the pretty Vrinda marks the beginning of Kuldip and the king’s downfall. The story takes a sharp turn when Sitaara embarks on a journey that forces her to choose between good and bad. Sitaara is a girl of high integrity is willing to stand by her convictions at all times, and against all people, even when it means standing up against people who might have cared for her.

Speaking about the launch, Nina Jaipuria, Head, Hindi Mass Entertainment and Kids TV network Viacom18, said – "COLORS has always created visually extravagant and immersive experiences for our viewers. Our lead protagonist is torn between the love for her mother who is evil personified and her own value system which prevents her from doing anything but good. The viewers will love to see this tussle between sin and virtue and see her choose the path of righteousness going against the wishes of her mother.”

Producer Rashmi Sharma said: “In mythology, vishkanyas had the power to destroy empires. With Vish Ya Amrit: Sitaara, a girl who doesn’t know her roots is compelled to choose between her real identity and the one she grew up with. She is an honest rendition of a woman with good upbringing. We’re sure that the audience will enjoy this journey.”

Adaa Khan said: “I’m thrilled at the opportunity and in love with my character. Her uniqueness will make her stand apart.  I’m thankful to COLORS and Rashmi Sharma for believing in me and giving me a chance to awe my fans and viewers with another beautiful narrative.”

COLORS’ has won the hearts of the viewers with its innovative storytelling in the fantasy-folklore genre. The channel is confident that this exotic concept will win the hearts of the audience once again as it presents it anew through Vish Ya Amrit: Sitaara

Will Sitaara’s hidden past reveal an unsteady future? Will she prove to be a femme fatale or the savior of her province?

The popular investigative thriller is the perfect amalgamation of mystery, drama, action and emotion that will witness Dev battling con artists, sociopaths, psychopaths and revenge junkies. Dev, with his keen eye for detail will continue to solve mysteries in his own unique ways and analyse the most perplexed situations with ease. Essaying the role of Dev, Aashish Chowdhry said, “My character has changed from season 1. Earlier Dev was known for his quirks and wit but as people have seen, he was deceived by his closed ones and carries a lot of baggage. Due to his past experiences, his behaviour has changed, and the audience will witness a whole new side of him this time. I am happy that Dev is now a franchise and we hope to continue receiving the love and support from our viewers.”

Commenting on her role, Pooja Bannerjee said, “Mehak’s character is multi layered which is what draws me back to the show. I am happy to be back with Dev2 and work with the cast which is now like a family. My experience has been extremely fulfilling and I’m excited for the journey ahead.”

Commenting on her role, Jigyasa Singh said, “This is the first time that I am entering a show of this genre, and it is both stimulating and challenging for me. It has been a fascinating experience shooting with the cast. I am elated to be a part of a show that has gripping content and a team of experts who have worked tirelessly to create the best on screen experience for the viewers.”

Playing the role of Inspector Amod Narvekar, Amit Dolawat said, “My character, with his love and hate equation with Dev is surely one of the USPs of this season. Navrekar will display many emotions – at one end, he will have a softer or more romantic side whilst on other hand, he will be more intense and powerful.  It’s been a great journey since the first season and we promise to keep you enthralled with this season’s gripping narrative.”

As penance for acting against the law, Dev now works as a Police consultant; ever so grudgingly, of course. His relationship with his pregnant wife is now even in murkier territory as believes she is in cohorts with his estranged father. To add to this, Dev is also trying to find answers for the mystery of his missing Mother, who from the looks of it is still alive. A child on the way with the woman he hates to love and working with a new sharp, young female protégé Dhwani– will Detective Dev be able to navigate through cases and piece together the biggest case of his own tragic life?

Their story begins when it ends – COLORS launches the unique love story, Bepannaah

MUMBAI: After the stupendous success of its love stories, Tu Aashiquii and Ishq Mein Marjawan, COLORS will now be adding a new shade of love with its unique offering – Bepannaah. A love story unlike any other, this romantic drama tells the impossible tale of two strangers brought together by a mysterious accident that shakes the very roots of their foundation. They say once bitten, twice shy – for Aditya and Zoya, love betrayed them the first time around, will they learn to fall in love again? With the perfect amalgamation of romance, drama and mystery – this riveting plot features some of the most loved faces of Indian Television with Jennifer Winget as Zoya, Harshad Chopda as Aditya, Sehban Azim as Yash (Zoya’s Husband) and Namita Dubey essaying the role of Pooja (Aditya’s Wife). Produced by Cinevistaas, Bepannaah will premiere on March 19, 2018 and will air every Monday to Friday at 9pm.

Talking about this development, COLORS – Programming Head, Manisha Sharma said, “Bepannaah is a story about love and betrayal that changes two peoples’ lives forever. The need to know what happened that night is what will keep our main protagonists and story moving very interestingly. We hope the chemistry between our lead characters and the twist that surrounds them will keep the viewers hooked on to the show.”

Sunil Mehta from ‎Cinevistaas Ltd. further added saying, “BEPANNAAH comes across as a Breath of Fresh Air, that differentiates it from the common denominator of storytelling that the audience has been catered and made used to on prime time! A Path Breaker, that will hopefully Set Trends!!!”

Speaking about being a part of the anticipated show, Jennifer Winget who plays Zoya said, “The first time I heard the narration for the show, I had tears in my eyes; a show like Bepannaah comes your way rarely and I am ecstatic to be a part of it. My character Zoya is a sweet, polite young lady who has always led a very sheltered life and has always been dependent on the men in her life. How her life turns upside down in a flash is baffling to say the least. I’m having a blast shooting with Harshad and Sehban. I’m sure viewers will love our chemistry.”

Harshad Chopda who essays the character of Aditya says, “I am returning to television after a hiatus and I was consciously waiting to pick the right story. Bepannaah’s core concept and my director Aniruddha Sir and DOP Deepak Sir were the major influencers in this case; Jennifer and I hit off as soon as we met. I’m sure it will be exciting for the audience to see us together onscreen.”

Sehban Azim who plays Zoya’s husband- Yash on the show said, “Bepannaah is a show that has been in the making for a while now. The detailing for every character, be it the look, the dialogues, the treatment – all of it has been given close attention to and its brilliance shows in every scene we do. I cannot thank the channel and the creators of the show enough, for making me a part of this stunning piece of fiction”.

Namita Dubey, who plays Aditya’s wife Pooja in the show said, “We are working with the best team on television today – both in front of the camera and behind it. The audience’s response to the promo has been great and I hope and pray that it gets better and bigger as the show progresses.
