    Asianet to premiere four blockbuster films in April

    Mumbai: Kerala’s entertainment network Asianet is all set to premiere four blockbuster films in April including “Minnal Murali,” “Marakkar – Lion of the Arabian Sea,” “Keshu Ee Veedinte Nadhan” and “Pushpa: The Rise.”

    As a part of this programming lineup, “Minnal Murali” will be telecasted on 10 April starting at 5.30 p.m. “Marakkar- Lion of the Arabian Sea” will be the next on 15 April starting at 2 p.m, followed by “Keshu Ee Veedinte Nadhan” on 17 April starting at 4.30 p.m. The channel is yet to announce the premiere date for “Pushpa: The Rise.”

    Last year, Asianet presented blockbuster films such as “Drishyam 2,” “Nayattu,” “Joji,” and “The Great Indian Kitchen.” According to a statement, the channel has more than 1500 titles in its content library.

    “We are focused on delivering high-quality entertainment to viewers and the addition of these blockbuster titles reiterates our commitment to delivering non-stop entertainment that resonates with them.  We are humbled by the response received from the Malayalam-speaking viewers to our content, and we will continue to strengthen Asianet’s library comprising of contemporary and quality films,” said an Asianet spokesperson.

    Screened at the Mumbai Film Festival last year, “Minnal Murali,” the first Malayalam superhero film received an astounding response from audiences. Penned down by Arun Anirudhan and Justin Mathew, the story revolves around the life of Jaison portrayed by Tovino Thomas, a young tailor who gains superpowers after being struck by lightning and transforms into a superhero. As he realises his superpowers, he starts to help people around him.

    One of the most anticipated Malayalam movies, “Marakkar – Lion of the Arabian Sea” is a biopic on Kunjali Marakkar the fourth, who is considered one of the greatest naval chiefs of India. The movie is credited to be the most expensive film ever made in Malayalam cinema and bagged the Best Feature Film, Best Special Effects, and Best Costume awards at the 67th National Film Awards in October 2021.

    Starring renowned artist Dileep, “Keshu Ee Veedinte Nadhan” is a humorous and feel-good family drama. Keshu, a 60-year-old driving tutor along with his family visits Rameswaram for his father’s funeral rites. Something unforeseen happens during the journey, which changes his life.

    The biggest grosser of 2021, “Pushpa: The Rise” bagged the ‘Film of the Year’ accolade at Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2022.  Directed by Sukumar, the action thriller feature superstars Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna.

    MUMBAI: Zee Keralam has rolled out another unique initiative by surprising winners of the Panam Kaykum Maram contest with gift delivery at their doorstep. The contest ran on the channel between 30 November to 5 December. The 420 viewers who answered the questions correctly won pressure cookers which were delivered to their homes. And the lone lucky winner who got all the answers right during the week-long contest won one lakh rupees as a cash prize.

    Zee Keralam has also become the first channel in Kerala to undertake such an initiative. For this purpose, the channel operated two vans with its brand name and logo on them to ensure the gist reached the winners securely at their homes. The initiative was designed to  honour the viewers who are an integral part of the Zee Keralam family. During Covid2019, the viewers stood with Zee Keralam and their support enabled the channel to climb into the ranks of top Malayalam channels. The prompt delivery of the gifts is a token of respect for those who have taken part in the competition.

    Zee Keralam, a new entrant among Malayalam entertainment channels, grabbed the second spot in the fiction category. Earlier, the channel had delivered the gifts of Chembarathi serial saree at the doorstep of the winners. The serial artistes of the channel, Thara Kalyan and Haritha Nair, had paid a visit at the home of a contest winner, which went viral on social media.

    BENGALURU: Malayalam channel Mazhavil Manorama announced that it has partnered with Endemol Shine to offer the popular international game show Minute To Win It, for the first time to the Malayalam diaspora. This popular game show format has seen successful runs in over 60 countries. Dates for launch of the show have not been finalized so say sources at Mazhavil Manorama.

    The channel’s marketing strategy for roping in sponsors and advertisers are yet to firm up say the sources. Mazhavil Manorama.says that it has earmarked a 360 Degree multi-media campaign blitzkrieg to promote the show.

    Minute to Win It is a popular international game show in which the contestant completes the task in a minute to move to the next level. The series of 60 second challenges are structured out of objects commonly available at home. The winner could win maximum prize money of Rs 10 lakh. The contestant will have to complete 10 Levels to reach the top of the Money Tree with three Lives.

    The First season of Minute to Win It will be travelling through various festive seasons of Kerala like Vishu, Ramzan, Onam and Christmas, which will surely witnessed the participation of Celebrities too. It would be telecast during prime time on weekend.

    MUMBAI: Videocon d2h has added another Malayalam channel Jai Hind on its platform. Jai Hind is a Malayalam language News channel, and is available in the basic pack South Silver pack onwards. With this addition the DTH platform now offers 25 Malayalam channels and services.  

    The newly added channel is available on the d2h platform on Channel Number:  859. Videocon d2h offers 500 channels and services, 27 Asli “HD” channels and host of regional channels.

     

    The platform now has 132 South channels and services on its platform. Videocon d2h offers 1000 GB High Definition Digital Video Recorder and claims to be the first DTH service provider to have Radio Frequency Remote for DTH service, which is available with High Definition Digital Set Top Box with unlimited recording.  Powered by the MPEG-4 and DVB-S2 technology, Videocon d2h offers services like 12 PIP Mosaic, d2h Cinema, weather updates and multiple tickers to transform your TV into a hub of entertainment and knowledge. It offers High Definition channels in 1080p, HDD sound and 16: 9 aspect ratio. “Apart from these, the platform has Active Music which includes 41 Audio / Video active music channels, 24 hours a day,” says a statement from the DTH player.

     

    Videocon d2h has a customer support system which offers services in eight languages from the customer care team present in six locations.

    Malayalam channel Jai Hind TV starts Gulf operations

    MUMBAI: As part of it global expansion move, Congress backed Malayalam channel Jai Hind TV has kick-started its Middle East operations to cater to the large expatriate Malayali population across the region.

    The channel will air Gulf-related programmes such as daily news bulletins, a weekly news-based programme called ‘Gulf Around’, business programme ‘Gulf Souq’ and travelogue ‘Arabia’. The programmes will be aired everyday till 9 pm.

    The Middle East office of the channel is located in Dubai Studio City.

    Jai Hind TV was launched in August last year as a 24-hour channel with emphasis on news and current affairs programmes.

    It is a joint venture between Bharath Broadcasting Network (BBN) and Jai Hind Communications (JHC), both headed by Dubai-based Keralites, and the Congress party.
