    MUMBAI: Carlton has launched ‘LegendSpeak’ a unique digital property that aims to provide a sneak peek into the journey, minds and lives of the stars of the Indian startup community. LegendSpeak propagates Carlton’s philosophy of influencing, nurturing and recognizing the new faces of business. The property has been conceptualized and created exclusively by Carlton, the online entrepreneur networking portal The Venturator and will be hosted at Tata Starbucks.

    The digital platform will host some of the most well-known and respected homegrown entrepreneurs, highlighting their personal experiences on their journey to success. LegendSpeak will be an interactive reference point for aspiring young business entrepreneurs, where they will be able to gain inspiration from the success stories of these individuals who are driven and passionate about what they do.

    Speaking about the new property, Mr. Sudip Ghose, Vice President-Marketing, V.I.P Industries, said, “With India’s startup community continuing to flourish and thrive, we wanted to create a platform where emerging entrepreneurs are able to seek knowledge and learn from the experts in the industry. This digital property captures the essence of how these individuals worked towards shaping their ideas and built it into a successful business.     In alignment to a common objective of targeting young business millennials, Carlton will also be sponsoring the 2nd season of The Velocity series, the flagship event of The Venturator. The Velocity Series is an offline engagement platform that aims to boost the startup ecosystem, by directly connecting aspiring young individuals to established entrepreneurs. The series is currently being hosted at Starbucks India’s Delhi flagship store at Connaught Place (Hamilton House) and will be on till December 2016.

    Ronnie Screwvala’s UpGrad platform attracts entries from over 20 countries

    MUMBAI: The online education platform UpGrad founded by Ronnie Screwvala, Mayank Kumar, Ravijot Chugh and Prabhav Phalgun went live with its first course on entreneurship on 25 November. The 15 week program, in its first outing, has received entries from 100 cities over 20 countries. Close to 2000 participants applied for course. 

     

    The program features five distinguished faculty members from academia, 30+ entrepreneurs like Ola Cabs co-founder Bhavish Aggarwal, MakeMyTrip.com founder Deep Kalra, Zomato co-founder Pankaj Chaddah and over 10 industry stalwarts from various fields to provide deep insights and first-hand experiences to the student base. 

     

    The courses will vary from a duration of six weeks to nine months and will have multiple start dates through the year. Going forward, UpGrad will also be available on the mobile platform through an android app.  

     

    Speaking on the response, UpGrad CEO & co-founder Mayank Kumar said, “The fact that we received close to 2000 applications across various demographic sections during the first leg of the launch, stands testament to the need for quality online education in India.     MUMBAI: MobiKwik, a mobile wallet with 10 million users, has appointed Virender Bisht as its chief technology officer.

    Earlier as MakeMyTrip.com technology VP, Bisht developed a track record of delivering strong results in the payments and mobile domains. He comes with over 14 years of diverse experience in creating world-class software products at MakeMyTrip, Educomp, Studyplaces.com, TribalFusion, Exponential, and TCS. At MobiKwik, Bisht will oversee all aspects of product research and development, user experience design and tech infrastructure.

    MobiKwik founder CEO Bipin Preet Singh said, “Bringing Virender on board as the CTO is one of our many steps towards constantly enhancing the technology behind our product.     ET Now launches series on successful entrepreneurs

    MUMBAI: ET Now, the English business news channel, is gearing up to launch a 10 episodic series, Leap of Faith, starting 4 August.

    The show will telecast the journey of true blue entrepreneurs, who have redefined the way business is done. “Leap of Faith will feature some of India’s innovative business leaders who, through their ideas, hard work and dedication have opened new avenues of business and will serve as inspirations for the future generations of young entrepreneurs,” the company said.

    ET Now has roped in Bajaj Hindusthan, the sugar and ethanol manufacturing company of Bajaj Group, as the title sponsor for the show.

    Some of the personals that the show will unravel include – PVR MD Ajay Bijli; MakeMyTrip.com CEO Deep Kalra; Dabur India vice chairman Amit Burman; and Volvo – Eicher CEO Siddharth Lal.

    The show will be hosted by Simone Singh. The chat-based show is divided into three segments.

    The first segment explores the inspiration, the toil and the challenges behind the enterprise; the second segment is driven by a mentor who discusses debates and guides the entrepreneur on his journey ahead. The third segment is a Q&A with business school students, some of whom would be future success stories, students who ask the obvious and the tough of the business leader.     Sanjeev Bhikchandani, CEO of Naukri.com is a veteran in the online industry and has established some of the most successful internet companies in India.

    Sanjeev holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from St. Stephen’s College and is a management graduate from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. Sanjeev has vast experience across industries having worked with companies like Lintas India Ltd. and SmithKline Beecham among others. He was the Editor of Avenues – the careers supplement of The Pioneer and has also co-authored two books on job hunting and careers.
