    Reliance teams up with Yahoo! India to offer instant messaging service

    MUMBAI: Reliance Communications has teamed up with Yahoo! India to offer instant messaging service to its customers.

    Mobile IM will allow Reliance Mobile customers to chat live with other Reliance customers, as well as any Yahoo! IM user in the world using their PC.

    Customers can send instant messages and chat online using all of the Yahoo! IM features such as simultaneous multi-chat windows, presence status icon, emoticons, Yahoo! personal contact list and profile, multiple chat windows and view off-line messages. Reliance’s Yahoo! IM is “always connected” to deliver instant messages, informs an official release.

    “Reliance is bridging the Digital Divide by extending the Internet-rich IM experience of the PCs to its mobile subscribers for the first time in India”, said Reliance Communications president – applications content and solutions Group Mahesh Prasad. “This brings us one step closer towards the convergence of the mobiles and the PCs”, he added.

    Yahoo! India MD George Zacharias said, “We are glad to partner with Reliance for Mobile IM services, in India. This unique service will add a new dimension in enhancing our user experience and provide yet another compelling way to stay connected, instantly and at all times.”

    Yahoo! Instant Messenger service client interface for Reliance was developed by ACL Wireless. Yahoo! Messenger for mobile is available on all BREW, WAP and Nokia colour handsets using Java technologies.

    Reliance Mobile customers can access Mobile Instant Messenger by clicking on Reliance Mobile World > hot n new > Yahoo! Msgr. Customers will be charged Rs. 5 for each session logged and can send and receive unlimited instant messages.

    This is not the first time that Reliance Mobile has collaborated with Yahoo! Infact, Yahoo! Mail has been part of Reliance Mobile World’s suite of WebMail services for over two years.

    Jump Games, Reliance Communications launch gaming contest ‘Don Kaun’

    MUMBAI: Jump Games and Reliance Communications have announced the launch of nation-wide mega mobile contest ‘Don Kaun’ on the Reliance Mobile World platform.

    The grand winner of the contest will win a date with the Bollywood actor Sameera Reddy. Other daily, weekly and monthly winners can take home gifts like Ipods, PS IIs, XBoxs along with a Plasma TV for one lucky winner, asserts an official release.

    The contest will sport Jump Games’ ten Mobile games that include titles like Sameera the Street Fighter, Bappi Da Disco King, Run Maddy Run and Baichung Bhutia – Pro Striker as well as a few international titles like Maradona and Van Damme Kick Boxing.

    The games featuring in the contest will be available for Reliance Mobile World (R World) subscribers across the country. The users will be able to access the games on Reliance Mobile World. To be eligible to take part, users need to submit high scores for each game.

    MUMBAI: Reliance Communications has announced the launch of Reliance Mobile ‘CricGenie’, a new service addition to its portfolio of cricket related mobile services. This application allows Reliance mobile customers to enjoy a match in progress in animated simulation format.

    “In our effort to enrich cricket experience for our customers on Reliance Mobile World we have enhanced our services to offer our cricket fans an experience on the mobile that matches the excitement on the grounds. Reliance Mobile Customers now have the added advantage of visualizing the match in addition to getting match updates,” says Reliance Communications president, applications and solutions group, Mahesh Prasad. The initiative goes beyond the current mobile cricket offerings like cricket scores while on the move, expert comments or updated tickers on your mobile phone.

    ‘CricGenie’ is priced at Rs. 25 per India-playing match day and all A Grade match days. For other match days, Reliance mobile users can enjoy Cricgenie at only Rs 10. CricGenie is supported on most colour handsets and efforts are underway to bring this experience to other Reliance Mobile World supported phones. This application has been designed by Dhruva Interactive, a Bangalore based company, specializing in mobile games.

    Apart from CricGenie, Reliance Mobile crickets lovers can also DIAL 1234 and say ‘SCORES’ and subscribe to special Cricket SMS updates for Rs 49 per month only. The pack is available throughout India and customers who subscribe to this pack would receive SMS updates after a certain number of overs.

    MUMBAI: Reliance Communications has selected Aicent MMS Gateway, developed by Aicent Inc. – the California-headquartered provider of mobile data network services and solutions – to offer domestic and international Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) to its mobile subscribers.

    Reliance has launched its MMS service which offers a vibrant and personalised messaging experience to its subscribers. By utilising the Aicent MMS gateway service, Reliance mobile subscribers can stay in touch by sharing photos, audio and video messages with their friends and family across India and around the world, informs an official release.

    Reliance in mobile content deal with Disney; to offer 3D animation

    MUMBAI: Reliance Communications has announced its tie-up with Disney to offer on Reliance Mobile World what would be India’s first 3D animation on mobile. The deal promises a host of other Disney mobile content offerings as well.

    Reliance customers will be able to access 16 Disney animated video shorts, including ten in 3D, exclusively made for mobile devices and featuring Disney characters They also can download other mobile content with favourite Disney characters in the form of wallpapers, ring-tones, games or comic strips from Disney Zone, created on Reliance Mobile World, states an official release.

    This is not the first deal that Disney has done with a telecom player in India. It is worth recalling that Disney had tied up with AirTel in April to develop mobisodes, games, ringtones, wallpapers and animation in the ‘Disney Mobile Theatre’ featuring popular cartoons. Airtel was then the third telecom operator Disney had tied up with, the other two being in Asia.

    Meanwhile, with soccer fever gripping the world, wallpapers and animations showing Disney characters in football gear will be an added attraction. Downloads will be priced at: Rs 5 for wallpapers, Rs 10 for video shorts downloads, Rs 5 for animations and Rs 10 for ring-tones on Disney Zone. Games will be charged at Rs 5 per session, adds the release.
